Chapter 1355: Unexpected Situation
When Liu Chuxue went to fetch water, she avoided people and added some space spring water to the cup.
Fu Yan Cheng pretended to be perfectly fine in front of her, but with such severe injuries, how could it not hurt at all? She wasn't a child.
After returning to the ward, she handed the cup to Fu Yan Cheng: "Drink some water."
Seeing the empty tin can on the bedside table, she said, "By the way, where did you get the tin can you used for drinking water before? Do you need to return it?"
Fu Yan Cheng glanced over there: "They borrowed it from the next ward. I'll return it later when I get up."
As the two were talking, they heard Regiment Commander Zheng shout outside: "Xiao Wu, come help me up."
Xiao Wu immediately trotted in, asked nothing, and reached out to help the man up: "Commander, take it slow."
As Xiao Wu helped Regiment Commander Zheng out of the ward, Liu Chuxue quickly stepped up to Fu Yan Cheng: "What exactly happened? Why did you stop me when Sister Zheng spoke earlier?"
Fu Yan Cheng gestured for her to lean closer before speaking: "Sister Zheng seemed straightforward at first glance, but that woman truly has no sense of propriety. Back when she was with the Second Regiment, she caused Old Zheng no end of trouble. With his merits, he should have been promoted after a few more years, but his wife completely ruined his chances."
The couple had been married for many years without conceiving. Sister Zheng had been very submissive about it before. Just when they thought they would never have children, Sister Zheng became pregnant, and her personality changed completely. She stopped being submissive; one might not say she became arrogant, but it was close.
Later, she gave birth to a son, which finally gave her confidence. After that, the child became her weak point. Whenever any child had a conflict with her son, she would go to their door and start a fight. Eventually, several neighboring families grew estranged. Regiment Commander Zheng could no longer stay in the Second Regiment. There happened to be a vacancy in the First Regiment, and through connections, he was transferred over.
Liu Chuxue asked in confusion: "We don't have a child now, so why did you stop me?"
Fu Yan Cheng poked her forehead: "You just arrived with the army and don't know the situation. Sister Zheng's story has spread throughout the First Regiment. Even though she moved to a different courtyard, few people are friendly with her. I was just afraid she would keep coming to our place, and then you wouldn't have any peace."
He was about to say more when footsteps were heard, so the two ended the conversation.
In the following days, Liu Chuxue did not cook personally. Her excessive sleepiness had not worsened, but she began to feel nauseous.
However, she did not vomit when eating, so she didn't know what to say.
Nevertheless, she went out for a walk every day, found a secluded spot to take ingredients from the space, brought them to the canteen, and asked the head chef to cook them, of course paying him privately for his help.
Of course, she secretly added some space spring water to the portion served to Fu Yan Cheng. The amount was small, but every time the nurse came to change his dressing, she would marvel at Commander Fu's excellent constitution and his recovery speed, which was beyond normal.
One day, shortly after she brought the freshly stewed chicken soup into the ward, Sister Zheng arrived with her son.
The moment the child entered, he smelled the aroma of the chicken soup. He broke free from the hand holding him and rushed straight for the clay pot, startling Liu Chuxue, who reached out and stopped him.
Before Liu Chuxue could speak, the child raised his arm and started slapping. This scared Fu Yan Cheng terribly; ignoring everything else, he jumped up from the bed in an instant.
But this movement made Liu Chuxue panic: "Fu Yan Cheng, be careful of your injury."
Mu Xiaofang saw her son being grabbed by the back of his collar by Liu Chuxue: "Oh, he is just a child. What are you doing?"
