Chapter 1821: Her Ability Is Truly Admirable
Time quickly arrived at the day of the foreign affairs event, and Chuxue directly wore a set of work clothes she had prepared beforehand.
She had told Auntie Wei the night before that she had matters to attend to today, so Auntie Wei got up early to prepare breakfast.
To avoid being late, Chuxue ate her meal, then rode her bicycle out the door; upon reaching the place where she needed to transfer once to get to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she found a hidden spot to store her bicycle away before going to take the bus.
This was the very first bus of the day; she truly had put in considerable effort.
When she arrived, the person responsible for this foreign affairs event had just gotten there as well, and among them was naturally an acquaintance she had dealt with before: "Chuxue, I didn't expect you to arrive this early."
Since she had put in the effort, naturally she had to let people know.
She smiled and said, "In order to arrive early, I left home while it was still dark; originally I needed to transfer twice, but I stubbornly rode my bicycle all the way to the bus stop for the final transfer leg, catching the very first bus."
Upon hearing these words, everyone immediately gave her a thumbs-up for her dedication.
Just as they were speaking, someone came running over in a hurry: "Comrade Chuxue, our Minister sent me to fetch you; there are some matters he needs to instruct you on again."
Chuxue exchanged greetings with the crowd, then followed the person away.
Some who did not know her asked in low voices: "Who is this person?"
Those who knew the inside story smiled and explained to them: "Her name is Xiao Chuxue; she is a student at Peking University. Although her major is political science and law, she is proficient in both German and English."
Someone exclaimed in surprise: "How old is she? Can she really be that formidable?"
"Then you don't know this, do you? Before even entering university, she represented the factory at the Canton Fair; her English and German are not only fluent, but she can switch between them at light speed. I was present at the time; her ability is truly admirable."
"Afterward, she also served as an accompanying translator for those foreign delegations; thanks to her precise translations and professional introductions, orders doubled. This is not something an ordinary person could achieve."
"Then what is she here for this time?"
"She has been seconded over to serve as the simultaneous interpreter for this event."
Hearing this, everyone present widened their eyes, and the person who had asked earlier said: "It's her?"
"Yes, it is her."
Chuxue was called into the Minister's office; after some polite exchanges, they got straight to the point: "Comrade Chuxue, we are old acquaintances, so I won't stand on ceremony with you. This material was compiled by them overnight for use today; please look it over first and try to memorize it all. For anything you absolutely cannot remember later, worst case, I will send someone to pass you notes."
Chuxue took those materials; no wonder Minister Cheng would say such things—the scope of the content involved was so broad, and the volume of specialized terminology so large, that if this were anyone else, their brain would likely turn straight to mush.
But she was not anyone else; she was Xiao Chuxue: "Minister Cheng, how much time is left before it begins?"
Minister Cheng raised his hand to look at the watch on his wrist: "The motorcade will arrive in forty minutes, and it will officially begin in one hour."
Chuxue flipped through the materials in her hand: "Find me a quiet office; when the motorcade arrives in forty minutes, I will appear on time."
Minister Cheng raised his hand to summon his secretary: "Take Comrade Chuxue to the office next door; do not allow anyone to disturb her. After forty minutes, you will personally escort her to the reception hall."
The secretary naturally knew the importance of today's foreign affairs event: "Yes."
Having said this, he led Chuxue quickly toward the office next door.
As Chuxue walked, she read through the materials in her hand; not relying on luck despite possessing photographic memory, she instead read carefully, memorized diligently, and even strove to understand the content above, aiming for perfection.
