Chapter 191: Aren't You Making Things Difficult for Me?

~4 min read 717 words

A family like the Qu family showing up at this time can only mean trouble.

Liu Shangan hurriedly came forward to greet them: "Brother-in-law, you've arrived. Please come in and sit."

Liu Jianqiang, however, asked: "Brother, why have you come? Qu Aihua hasn't..."

Before he could finish, Liu Shangan slapped him: "Can't you see there are others here? Hurry and invite them inside."

Qu Dayao, Qu Aihua's elder brother, wore a stern expression: "No need to go inside. I came today specifically to discuss the matter of dividing the family."

Liu Shangan and his son stood there, utterly stunned: "Dividing the family?"

Qu Dayao was a straightforward man: "Look at the state your family is in now. Your reputation is ruined. My sister is already six months pregnant. This household is nothing but fighting and quarreling all day long. How can a pregnant woman endure this?"

"I came today to insist that the young couple split off and live their own small life separately. From now on, no matter how much you earn, they won't fight for it."

Seeing Seeing Seeing Ge Xiulan, who had just stepped out of the east wing and heard these words, immediately objected: "Brother-in-law, you've gone too far. Have you ever seen a daughter-in-law who just entered the household demand a split? You also have a daughter-in-law. I'd like to ask, did your family ever split?"

With those words, not only did Qu Dayao lose face, but Liu Shangan and Liu Jianqiang were in no better shape.

Ever since learning what the Liu family had done, Qu Dayao had been filled with disgust. If not for his own sister, he would never have set foot on Liu family soil: "Which mother-in-law thinks of selling her niece to her son to secure a future? Look at your family's reputation; it stinks all over the street. Do you still think you can act like a mother-in-law with my sister?"

Seeing Seeing Seeing Ge Xiulan grew even angrier: "So what if the family's reputation stinks? Am I not still her mother-in-law?"

Hearing this, Qu Dayao immediately flew into a rage: "I can make sure you are not."

His words terrified Liu Jianqiang, who quickly spoke up: "Brother, let's discuss this calmly. You must not act rashly. Qu Aihua and I are getting along fine."

Qu Dayao's eyes were full of disdain: "Look at you now. If my sister weren't carrying your child, I would have told her to break off with you long ago. Now your family has become famous; everyone within ten miles knows about it. Yet you still try to act superior with me?"

"If you don't want your child to be pointed at and criticized from birth, then hurry up and split the family, take Qu Aihua, and live separately. Otherwise, this life of yours cannot continue. At worst, we can divorce after the child is born."

Liu Shangan never expected things to be so serious. If what his brother-in-law said was true, who would dare marry into his family in the future? If his eldest daughter-in-law left again, his eldest son would surely blame them to death: "Brother-in-law, please come inside first. Let us sit down and discuss this matter."

After speaking, he gave Seeing Seeing Seeing Ge Xiulan a meaningful glance: "Hurry and boil some water to make sweet soup for everyone to quench their thirst."

Seeing Seeing Seeing Ge Xiulan failed to catch the man's hint and blurted out directly: "Where in the house is there any brown sugar? Aren't you making things difficult for me?"

Liu Shangan finally understood why the elders often said: "When marrying a wife, choose one who is idle." His own wife was even less decisive than the one in his second brother's household.

He glared directly, lowered his voice, and gritted his teeth: "If there isn't any, go borrow some from someone else first."

Though unwilling, Seeing Seeing Seeing Ge Xiulan dared not say anything more: "Fine, I'll go boil the water first."

Liu Shangan watched her head to the kitchen before finally sighing in relief: "Truly a woman without a brain. If she could borrow some, that would be best. If not, she could just make up an excuse. Why must she make a scene in public and bring shame upon us?"
