Chapter 356: Marriage Proposal

Jiang Xiaoya heard this and quickly spoke up to stop her: "Cousin, that's not the case. I'm still at work right now; I'll come find you when I'm off."

Zhang Yurong immediately came to her senses too. She had truly been out of her mind. Fortunately, she hadn't said anything else; a wave of fear washed over her.

Fu Yan Hong had been right after all. She was truly foolish, trying every means to match her brother-in-law with her cousin just for that unrealistic promise. It was fortunate that her brother-in-law didn't hold it against her; he was likely enduring it out of respect for his third brother.

Having figured it out, she no longer cared about her cousin's affairs. After paying, she turned and entered the department store building.

On the other side, Fu Yan Cheng went to pick up Kong Yizhang before heading toward Liu Family Village.

He drove the familiar route straight to the foot of Liu Chuxue's house: "Mom, Dad, Kong Yizhang, I've parked the car here. Chuxue's house is just up the slope."

Fu's father got out of the car: "This spot is good. Though it's at the end of the village, the view is quite open."

Fu's mother looked at the stone retaining wall before them: "This must have taken quite a bit of effort."

Kong Yizhang had heard from his close friend about Chuxue's family building a house, but he hadn't expected them to have such boldness, constructing a house of green bricks and large tiles, especially since he had investigated her family before.

While taking things out of the car, Fu Yan Cheng said: "Chuxue said she was afraid heavy rain would cause soil erosion and affect their house, so she had people find stones in the river gully and build this entire area up."

As they were speaking, Chunxiao's voice came from above: "Second Sister, come out quickly."

Liu Chuxue immediately understood; Fu Yan Cheng and the others must have arrived.

Liu's father and mother came out of the courtyard and saw Fu Yan Cheng had already arrived with his people outside the main gate: "You're here."

Fu Yan Cheng greeted them, quickly stepped aside, and introduced them to his parents: "Mom, Dad, these are Chuxue's parents."

Then he introduced further: "Uncle, Aunt, these are my parents. That is Kong Yizhang; you've met him before."

The reason he brought Kong Yizhang was to act as the matchmaker. Mainly, he was the only person who knew Chuxue and was also his brother, making him the perfect companion for a marriage proposal.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Liu's father hurriedly invited them into the courtyard.

Liu Chuxue was just coming out of the kitchen carrying a freshly cut watermelon.

Fu Yan Cheng shoved everything he was carrying into Kong Yizhang's hands beside him, then took three steps in two to approach, taking the plate of watermelon from Chuxue: "Chuxue, these are my parents."

Liu Chuxue smiled gently at them: "Greetings, Uncle, Aunt."

Fu's father and mother quickly responded and nodded at her with smiles.

At this moment, Kong Yizhang stepped forward: "Comrade Liu, I didn't expect your fate with Yan Cheng to be here. It seems this marriage is destined by heaven."

Although Liu Chuxue felt a bit shy, she was someone who had seen big occasions and responded with grace: "Thank you, Comrade Kong, for your auspicious words."

After all, matters were not yet settled; in front of Fu Yan Cheng's parents, she did not want to speak too definitively.

Liu Chuxue invited them inside to sit.

Fu's mother, her face full of smiles, whispered to her husband: "This girl is truly beautiful. It seems your youngest son has fallen in love at first sight."
