Chapter 373: Taking the Exam

~4 min read 732 words

Hearing these words, parents in the crowd who had accompanied their children to take the exam immediately sprang into action, all retreating backward.

Those who had deliberately blocked the entrance also conscientiously stepped outside.

Seeing that they could now move inward, the exam candidates who had been blocked outside followed the cleared passage and walked in.

Liu Chuxue was among them.

Afterward, the person holding the megaphone shouted again: "Please, exam candidates, form queues according to the job type you applied for; in a moment, you will enter the designated exam location in an orderly line."

Liu Chuxue was tall with good eyesight; without needing to move to the front, she saw the notice posted on the wall. No wonder so many people had come to take the exam today; it turned out a new production line had been added, requiring not only personnel transfers from various workshops but also the recruitment of a batch of apprentice workers.

For jobs entering the workshops, the educational requirement was not high; as long as one had graduated from elementary school and could read, that was sufficient.

Looking again at the recruitment requirements for departments like logistics, finance, the factory office, and the technical section, they were far too high; a high school graduation was the first threshold.

For instance, finance required proficiency with the abacus, and it had to be skilled; the technical section was even more demanding, with requirements alone filling two lines: familiar with the steel rolling process, understanding the basic principles and operating methods of equipment, not only mastering basic knowledge of metal materials but also possessing certain drawing and blueprint-reading abilities, capable of interpreting mechanical drawings and process flowcharts;

The factory office went even further, requiring knowledge of a foreign language and a certain level of literary skill; being able to write and speak well was a basic requirement. Only logistics had the fewest requirements, yet like other positions, it still demanded that political quality and moral character must pass, a high school education, physical fitness, and certain communication and coordination abilities.

Liu Chuxue naturally prepared to take the accountant position, followed by the factory office; after all, she lacked the capability for the technical section, and she did not want to go into logistics.

But she did not know if the positions she wanted had already been reserved by others; however, thinking of Deputy Factory Director Gu, she had fewer worries. As long as she passed the exam, she believed there should be no major problem.

She had just withdrawn her thoughts when movement occurred ahead; everyone filled out their chosen positions one by one.

When it was Liu Chuxue's turn, she directly filled in both the accountant and factory office positions.

The written exam needed to be taken only once; however, after finishing, she still had to participate in the abacus assessment for the accountant position and the foreign language and writing assessment for the factory office.

Soon, they were led to the exam venue: "Everyone, find a seat for yourselves; the exam will officially begin in five minutes. The results for this exam session will be posted after two o'clock in the afternoon. Comrades confident in themselves may proceed to take assessments for other items; those who are undecided or feel they will not pass may wait until the results are posted before deciding whether to participate in other assessments."

In other words, for these two positions, both the exam and the additional items must meet the standards to be hired.

Even if you score the best, if you fail the abacus and foreign language assessments, you will not be hired; of course, those with pre-arranged appointments would be exempt.

Liu Chuxue looked around; although the number of applicants for the accountant and factory office positions was not small, it was far less than the number of people applying for logistics and workshop positions.

Hearing a few people whispering nearby, she learned that the previously posted notice had only mentioned recruitment for the new workshop and technical positions; logistics, accounting, and the factory office were posted temporarily, catching everyone off guard.

In Liu Chuxue's view, this was likely intentional; most people applying for these positions were probably like her, having received advance news, while only a small portion had come today to apply for workshop worker positions and then switched to other roles.
