Chapter 529: Waiting for You Tomorrow

When Liu Chuxue arrived at the dormitory, Ji Kunlan had just finished getting ready and was about to grab her bag to go to the office: "Liu Chuxue, you're back. I was thinking of checking the Finance Section in a bit; if you hadn't arrived yet, I would have requested leave for you."

Liu Chuxue put down what she was holding: "Rushing as hard as I could, the timing is just right."

She didn't bother saying much more: "Wait for me, let's go together."

Ji Kunlan smiled and said "Mm": "Don't rush, it's not too late yet."

Liu Chuxue tidied up quickly: "Let's go, we can finish packing when we return at noon."

The two chatted and laughed as they went downstairs; Liu Chuxue noticed Ji Kunlan looked obviously different today: "Did something good happen to you?"

Ji Kunlan raised her hand and patted her face: "Is it that obvious?"

Liu Chuxue nodded: "That smile hasn't faded once. I just went home for a visit; do you have to be that happy?"

Ji Kunlan laughed loudly: "Your powers of observation are truly impressive. Last night, my second brother called home saying he's taking leave to come back; I haven't seen him in over a year."

Liu Chuxue was about to say something when she saw Xiao Wanxia, whom she had met before, walking toward them, so she couldn't help but remind her: "Your second sister-in-law."

Ji Kunlan looked up: "Second sister-in-law, why have you come over?"

Xiao Wanxia was carrying a small bag in her hand: "My mother pickled some salted duck eggs and asked me to bring a few to you. I thought there was still some time, so I brought them over first."

Ji Kunlan's face was full of smiles: "Auntie still remembers I like this; thank her so very much."

After speaking, she thought of something: "Second sister-in-law, if my second brother sets a return date, you must notify me; I'll go with you to the train station to pick him up then."

Xiao Wanxia smiled and agreed: "Understood."

At that moment, Liu Chuxue smiled and nodded at her, which counted as a greeting.

Ji Kunlan held up the salted duck eggs in her hand: "Liu Chuxue, my aunt's pickled salted duck eggs are the best; you're in for a treat at noon."

Liu Chuxue smiled and said: "Just as well, my mother brought me some shiitake mushroom beef sauce; we'll improve our meal at noon."

The two looked at each other and smiled.

Xiao Wanxia stared at Liu Chuxue's smile and froze there again; it really was similar. It seemed she still needed to urge her own mother to push things over there; who knew when the investigation results would come out.

Fu Yan Cheng acted quite quickly; as soon as Liu Chuxue had mostly finished her work, the phone call came.

Section Chief Li came out and called for her: "Liu Chuxue, phone call."

Liu Chuxue quickly stood up and walked inside.

Seeing her come in, Section Chief Li took his cup and walked outside: "I'll step out for a bit; take your time on the call."

Liu Chuxue knew it was well-intentioned, but she was indeed a bit embarrassed: "Section Chief, I'll just have a few words; it'll be over very quickly."

But the more she didn't explain, the better; once she did explain, Section Chief Li wore a look of "I understand," which made Liu Chuxue shut her mouth immediately and just give up.

She picked up the receiver, and Fu Yan Cheng's voice came from the other end: "Xue'er, Kong Yizhang has given a reply. That fellow was set up, but there are still many unclear circumstances in between, so results won't be out for a while. If they come over, just subtly remind them for now; after all, the case hasn't reached its final conclusion, and no one dares to make a definitive judgment."

Liu Chuxue said "Mm": "Alright, I understand. Go get busy."

Huo Jingrui glanced toward the door and lowered his voice: "I'll wait for you tomorrow."

Liu Chuxue also glanced toward the outer office: "Okay."

Coincidentally, that expression was seen by Section Chief Li, who had just come in to collect materials.

That teasing look made Liu Chuxue's face turn red for no reason.
