Chapter 548: Unexpected Discovery
At first, Liu Chuxue wanted to push the person away, but once involved in such matters, it became quite addictive, and afterward, things spiraled out of control.
By the time the two parted, panting, more than ten minutes had passed.
Liu Chuxue's face was flushed with a rosy hue, her expression full of seduction, making Fu Yan Cheng desperate to pull her back into his embrace.
But Liu Chuxue gave him no further chance; she stood up directly, turned her head to look the other way, and even used her hand as a fan to cool herself.
Seeing her like this, Fu Yan Cheng's lips curled upward; he was about to embrace her from behind when Liu Chuxue stopped him: "Shh."
Fu Yan Cheng knew exactly what was happening; he immediately went on high alert and whispered, "What's wrong?"
The spot where they stood was blocked by a cluster of thorns, yet from Liu Chuxue's position, she could clearly see someone on the slope above holding a telescope and looking down.
And the place where that person stood, if not for her keen eyesight, would have been impossible to detect.
After all, it was not only far away, but the person was also standing just behind and to the side of a thorn cluster; she whispered, "On the slope diagonally opposite stands a short man holding a telescope. That telescope is clearly no ordinary one. Most importantly, the shoes he is wearing are quite peculiar, so this person is highly suspicious."
To avoid being discovered, Fu Yan Cheng embraced Liu Chuxue from behind, pressing close to her neck to look upward, and indeed, someone was standing up there.
Even he, a professionally trained individual, could barely make out the figure, yet he did not expect the little woman in his arms to have such sharp eyesight; he whispered, "Can you make out his features clearly?"
Liu Chuxue did not answer immediately; instead, she looked carefully once more. Just then, the person lowered the telescope: "It's too far; I can't see very clearly, but his left pinky finger is noticeably shorter. I suspect it isn't congenital but rather the result of an injury."
But barely had she finished speaking when Fu Yan Cheng's expression changed: "Xue'er, look again carefully. Are you certain that person's left pinky finger is missing a segment?"
Liu Chuxue extended her spiritual sense to look; its range reached exactly that lowered left hand, but no further.
She would have liked to move closer, but if she went any further, she would have to expose herself; she did not want to take the risk. For some reason, she felt that person was dangerous: "Yes, I am certain that person's left pinky finger is missing a segment."
Fu Yan Cheng's heartbeat unconsciously quickened: "Xue'er, stand still and make no sound. Can you do that?"
Hearing these words, Liu Chuxue guessed what he intended to do, yet she still asked, "What do you plan to do?"
Fu Yan Cheng did not answer directly: "He may be a dangerous individual. To ensure the safety of the troops and their families, I want to seize the opportunity to capture him and bring him back."
In his heart, he was already certain this person was the one they had been searching for, the superior officer behind the previous arrests; his appearance here likely meant he was plotting something again.
But then something occurred to him, and a wave of unease washed over him; he did not know when that person had climbed up there.
Carefully considering the time and location of that person's appearance and calculating repeatedly, he concluded they had not been discovered; most likely, while they had been embracing, the man had climbed up from behind, and coincidentally, those ten minutes were the shift-change time for the patrol team; he was probably trying to observe the troop situation during this gap.
Liu Chuxue was unfamiliar with the terrain here, so she had not thought so deeply, but her intuition told her that person was dangerous: "It will not be easy; after all, the distance between him and us is truly considerable. Moreover, since we are on the mountainside, the moment we move, he will surely discover us."
If he truly is a villain, he may well be armed; if we simply go out like this, it would be tantamount to handing ourselves over as targets.
