Chapter 549: Delivering a Message

Fu Yan Cheng naturally understood all this, so he did not act rashly.

Moreover, he did not want Liu Chuxue to be harmed because of him.

But if this truly was the person they were looking for, letting him go today would likely lead to endless trouble.

Liu Chuxue had been watching the movements of the person above: "You should be very familiar with the terrain of this mountain, right?"

Fu Yan Cheng nodded: "Familiar."

By now, he had figured it out clearly; this person had definitely calculated the timing to arrive. In another ten minutes, a patrol team would arrive, and he should leave before then.

Rather than capturing him now, it would be better to follow him, see where he settles, and find out his schemes: "Xue'er, once he leaves, you must hurry down the mountain. When you reach the foot of the mountain, you will meet a group of people. Find Ma Wuliang, tell him what happened, and have him take a few people to chase after that side of the mountain. I will leave them a mark."

Having finished speaking, he pressed his face against Liu Chuxue's: "I'm sorry, on your very first day..."

Liu Chuxue did not let him continue: "I understand, and I can comprehend. I will deliver the message as soon as possible. You must be careful with your safety."

Before they could say anything more, they saw that person turn around and walk toward the other side of the mountain: "He is leaving."

Fu Yan Cheng watched that person's movements: "Xue'er, when you go down the mountain later, do not take the path we came up."

He pointed with his finger: "Take this path here, understand?"

Liu Chuxue looked at the place he pointed to and immediately understood; there were coverings along that roadside, making it hard to be discovered.

The path they had taken earlier, while easy to walk, had no cover except for a few clusters of thorns: "I understand."

Seeing Fu Yan Cheng was about to leave: "If I am not mistaken, the place where that person just stood should be the highest point, and behind him is the reverse slope, correct?"

Fu Yan Cheng nodded: "Yes."

Liu Chuxue glanced upward: "You had better take a detour as well; do not chase straight up."

Fu Yan Cheng understood immediately: "Good."

His eyes were full of apology: "I'm sorry."

After releasing Liu Chuxue, he saluted her with a military salute: "The path over there is not as easy as the one we came up. You must be careful with your safety."

The reason he dared to let Liu Chuxue go down the mountain alone was that the patrol team would reach the foot of the mountain in another two minutes, and she had also observed that the section going down the mountain was safe, with no suspicious signs discovered.

Glancing at Liu Chuxue with guilt, he turned and ran toward the back. He needed to run as far back as possible before climbing up again; this way, even if he made noise, that person would not discover him.

Liu Chuxue glanced up the mountain, saw that the person was already gone without a trace, and then hurriedly ran down the mountain herself.

With the help of the cheat, she quickly found the group of people Fu Yan Cheng had mentioned and rushed over: "May I ask which one is Ma Wuliang?"

Upon hearing someone was looking for Ma Wuliang, the teammates wore expressions of watching a show: "Comrade Ma, someone asked me to deliver a message to you. Please step aside for a moment."

She might have watched too many spy films from a later era, fearing that there were informants among this group, and fearing that her own lack of caution would affect Fu Yan Cheng's safety.

Ma Wuliang did not think Liu Chuxue's request was excessive; he pointed to a wide area nearby: "Go over there."

As soon as they stood still, Liu Chuxue recounted the events on the mountain to him: "That is how the matter stands."

Ma Wuliang had been on missions with Fu Yan Cheng recently, so he quickly realized the severity of the situation: "Comrade, thank you for delivering the message. The situation is urgent; I will make arrangements immediately."
