Chapter 673: Song Yu and Maisui

~11 min read 2,137 words

Back at Building 26, Li Heng didn’t idle—he began reviewing his lessons in preparation for the final exams.

But he didn’t disturb Song Yu or Chen Xiaoyu in the study; he worked in the living room instead.

Around 10:30 p.m., Zhang Haiyan and Sun Manning arrived.

Sun Manning seized the chance to be alone with him and whispered, “Li the Rich, what day in July are you going to Dongting Lake?”

Li Heng thought for a moment and said, “Probably late July.”

Sun Manning asked, “How long do you plan to stay?”

Li Heng replied, “About a month.”

“Oh my god! Stay that long?”

“Mm.”

“Can you take me with you?” Sun Manning asked excitedly.

Li Heng looked up. “Aren’t you going to Shaodong? Aren’t you going to keep company with Suisui and Shihe?”

Sun Manning said, “Who said I won’t? Shihe’s only staying half a month before leaving—I’ll be free then and can go with you to Dongting Lake.”

Before he could reply, she winked and grinned. “Don’t worry—I promise I won’t be a third wheel. Might even help you cover for each other.”

Li Heng said, “I’m fine with it. Just let Song Yu know ahead of time.”

“I’ll go right now.” Sun Manning dashed into the study, happily seeking out Song Yu.

That night, Sun Manning and Zhang Haiyan slept together; Chen Xiaoyu and Song Yu shared a room.

Li Heng sighed heavily outside Song Yu’s bedroom for half the night, then finally trudged back to the master room in defeat.

That night, Li Heng had two dreams.

In the first, he dreamt again of the woman with a mole on her lower abdomen.

She was tall and alluring in bed, but her face was veiled in mist—he couldn’t make out her features no matter how hard he tried.

When he woke, he wondered: Who is she?

Does such a person exist in reality?

He was certain it wasn’t Song Yu, Xiao Han, Zijin, Da Qingyi, or Maisui—he knew their lower abdomens intimately, had seen them more than once.

As for Teacher Yu, he wasn’t sure. He’d been with her several times, but she hated turning on the lights—she only let him touch her after she’d switched them off.

Could it be Miss Zhou?

Well, last time he’d accidentally glimpsed her body at the bathroom door, it was too rushed—he’d only caught a fleeting glance.

And Shihe’s hands reacted instantly, instinctively covering her two most vital spots—and in doing so, she’d also shielded her lower abdomen.

Could it be his high school English teacher?

Thinking of that fiery, sensual body, Li Heng suddenly felt more alert—and couldn’t sleep.

Damn it!

This was torture—why did he wake up halfway through the dream?

He tossed and turned in bed, desperate to slip back into the dream and entangle himself with that body.

He half-sat up, and for a moment, he was tempted to sneak into Song Yu’s room, chase out Chen Xiaoyu, and hold Song Yu close.

Then he unconsciously glanced toward the opposite Building 25—damn it! Wasn’t Teacher Yu alone? This was the perfect time to strike.

But the next second he quashed the thought. He trudged to the shower, took a cold shower, and tried to calm himself down.

Back in bed, he struggled, and sometime in the late night, he finally fell asleep.

But just as he slept soundly, he dreamt again.

This time, he rarely dreamt of Miss Zhou Shihe.

In the dream, the two of them were preparing dinner in the kitchen.

Suddenly, while chopping vegetables, Miss Zhou said calmly, “I’m pregnant.”

Li Heng turned to stare at her blankly.

Zhou Shihe met his gaze and said, “Tomorrow morning, let’s go get our marriage certificate.”

Li Heng suddenly remembered—he’d promised Song Yu they’d get their marriage certificate tomorrow morning. This—this—how could he break his word?

As he wrestled with this, a cleaver swung toward him—and then the dream ended abruptly.

Li Heng woke again—but this time, he was jolted awake, drenched in cold sweat.

Holy shit! Shihe, are you really that violent?

You’re so gentle—how could you be like this?

Now he was completely wide awake. He leaned against the headboard until dawn.

He got up, washed his face.

Then he went for a morning run, thinking he’d play some basketball on the court.

But today his luck was bad—or maybe he came too early—the basketball court had almost no one, just people strolling or exercising, and not a single basketball in sight.

He did run into Wei Xiaozhu and Dai Qing—the two girls were, as always, jogging around the track.

Li Heng caught up and asked, “How many laps have you done?”

Startled by his voice, Wei Xiaozhu turned sharply, glancing behind him. “Why are you alone? Aren’t you with Song Yu?”

Li Heng replied, “She hasn’t woken up yet.”

Wei Xiaozhu said, “This is our fourth lap.”

Li Heng asked, “After four laps, you run four more and then stop?”

Wei Xiaozhu smiled. “Yes.”

Sure enough, after completing eight laps, Wei Xiaozhu sat down on the steps to drink water and rest, watching Li Heng and Dai Qing run side by side.

After running fourteen laps straight, Li Heng glanced at Dai Qing. “You’ve done eighteen laps already? How are you still so calm?”

Dai Qing didn’t turn, maintaining her steady pace. “You’re just weak.”

Li Heng was speechless. “Weak?”

Could a weak person run fourteen laps? Five thousand meters?

Dai Qing said, “Are you satisfied with fourteen laps? Don’t forget—you have five women. If you spend one night with each, you only get two days off a week. Think about it—doesn’t that give you more motivation to run a few more laps?”

Li Heng stared at her in awe. “No! No! Dai Qing, since when could you say something like that?”

Dai Qing said, “That’s not what I said.”

Li Heng asked, “Who said it?”

Dai Qing replied, “Sisi said it.”

Li Heng looked puzzled.

Dai Qing quickly explained, “No one else heard. Last night, only me, Xiaozhu, and Sisi were eating in the dorm. And Sisi knows about you and Song Yu—she even showed Song Yu the way to campus.”

That explained it—Li Heng finally understood.

By the sixteenth lap, he was struggling; his pace slowed.

Dai Qing glanced at him and suddenly said, “Do you know what I was just thinking?”

Li Heng asked, “What?”

Dai Qing teased, “I was thinking—you’ve got so many beautiful women around you. If you added two more with good looks, you could have a different one every night without repeating for a whole week.”

Li Heng stared at her.

Dai Qing initially tried to stay composed, but soon cracked—her cheeks flushed deeper than the red clouds in the sky.

After running, the three of them left campus together to buy breakfast.

Seeing him buy breakfast for five or six people, the two girls kindly offered to carry it and followed him back to Lushan Village.

On the way, Wei Xiaozhu suddenly asked, “I remember Shihe loves soup dumplings—why didn’t you buy any for her?”

Li Heng replied, “Shihe isn’t in Lushan Village.”

Hearing this, Wei Xiaozhu and Dai Qing exchanged glances for several seconds, then wisely changed the subject.

At the end of the alley, Li Heng delivered one portion of breakfast to Building 25—but Teacher Yu hadn’t woken up yet, so he left the food on the coffee table with a note.

After a moment’s thought, he drew a heart at the bottom of the note.

Oh! Teacher Yu will be embarrassed all day when she sees it.

Back at Building 26, he walked straight into the courtyard and bumped into Song Yu.

She immediately asked, “You look tired—did you stay up late last night?”

Li Heng said, “No, I didn’t stay up. I just didn’t sleep well.”

Song Yu asked, “Are you feeling unwell?”

Li Heng shook his head and whispered in her ear, “I was thinking of you. Couldn’t sleep all night. Sleep with me tonight.”

Song Yu smiled faintly and pretended not to hear.

After breakfast, Li Heng drove Zhang Haiyan back to school, with Song Yu, Sun Manning, and Chen Xiaoyu joining him.

They planned to explore Shanghai thoroughly.

Coincidentally, as they pulled up to the school gate, they encountered Zhou Shihe and Ye Ning.

Ye Ning happily waved at Li Heng. But Zhou Shihe walked straight ahead, ignoring him completely—not even glancing his way.

Li Heng rolled down his window and asked Ye Ning, “Where are you going?”

Ye Ning gave him a helpless look. “I don’t know. Shihe said she wanted to go out, so I came with her.”

Li Heng glanced at Zhou Shihe’s slender back, remembered Song Yu was in the front seat, and said nothing—he drove off.

Actually, Ye Ning knew their destination: Jing’an Temple.

Though she didn’t understand why Shihe had gotten up early to go to Jing’an Temple, her woman’s instinct told her there was a secret here—so she didn’t tell Li Heng.

In the following days, Li Heng took Song Yu shopping, visiting bustling areas one by one: Yangpu, Hongkou, Jing’an, and Xuhui.

Sun Man also came along, mainly to keep Chen Xiaoyu company and prevent her from being a third wheel.

In the evenings, the four of them reviewed their martial arts in preparation for the final exams.

On the morning of June 12, while Li Heng and Song Yu were eating beef noodles at Chunhua Fenmian Restaurant, they spotted an old acquaintance: Wu Siyao from Tongji University.

The moment Song Yu walked in, Wu Siyao’s gaze subtly settled on her, so absorbed she didn’t even notice the noodle broth staining her chest.

After ordering breakfast, while Li Heng was playing with the child, the fool whispered to him: “My god! Master Heng, you’re insane! Do you know? Since Song Yu came, Miss Wu from Tongji has been coming here every morning for breakfast.”

Sister Chunhua guessed that Wu Siyao probably just wanted to see Song Yu in person, so she comes here every day like a hunter waiting by a tree.”

Li Heng tapped him on the head. “You’ve improved—now you’re using idioms.”

The fool chuckled and offered a stupid idea: “Hehe, I think Wu Siyao’s pretty. You’ve got more than one woman anyway—why not add her to your harem? She comes here every day for noodles, it’s free business for me.”

Li Heng spat out one word: “Get lost.”

While Li Heng went to get water, Wu Siyao unexpectedly approached, pretending to do the same.

In a voice only the two could hear, she asked: “How did you do it? Make both Zhou Shihe and Song Yu fall for you?”

This was the second time she had spoken to Li Heng. The last time was last year, on a bus, when Zhou Shihe accompanied him to visit a teacher in Xuhui.

Li Heng was surprised—this woman knew Song Yu’s name?

Even more surprising, Wu Siyao left without waiting for his reply, as if her only purpose had been to say that one thing.

Chen Xiaoyu noticed Wu Siyao and asked curiously: “That girl’s gorgeous—is she from your school too? How come your school has so many beautiful girls?”

Sun Man glanced suspiciously at Li Heng. “No, she’s from Tongji University next door. Her name’s Wu Siyao—she’s pretty famous around these campuses.”

As they left the noodle shop, Song Yu smiled faintly and asked: “How long has that girl been chasing you?”

“Huh?” Li Heng feigned ignorance.

Song Yu said: “She kept sneaking glances at me just now.”

Li Heng’s eyelid twitched. “I don’t know her well. She’s just like Chen Lijun now—I know who she is, but I don’t know anything about her.”

Hearing this, Song Yu believed him.

June 17, after 3 p.m.

Mai Sui returned from Shaodong.

When she entered the room and saw Song Yu, she was stunned, then ran over and hugged her tightly.

After a long while, the two women finally let go.

Song Yu held her hand gently. “You’ve lost weight. Dark circles under your eyes. Haven’t slept much these past few days?”

Mai Sui nodded. “When did you arrive?”

Song Yu replied: “I came to celebrate his birthday, and only then learned you’d gone back home.”

Li Heng brought over two glasses of chilled tea—one to Song Yu, one to Mai Sui. “Song Yu was supposed to return to Jingcheng the day before yesterday, but she waited two extra days just to see you.”

Song Yu glanced at him with a smile and asked Mai Sui: “Are you hungry? Did you have lunch?”

Mai Sui shook her head. “We ate on the plane. I’m not hungry.”

Song Yu said: “Then rest for a bit. It’s overcast today, windy outside. Later, we’ll take a walk around campus.”
