Chapter 16: Inheritance

~6 min read 1,128 words

The King of Gu Poison stared in terror at this scene, feeling a powerful force surging forth from the array.

"The Medicine King Inheritance… actually… exists…" Tang Yun murmured, his eyes filled with hope.

Golden light enveloped Tang Yun, as if he were bathed in Holy Light.

The once violent Gu Poison within his body now trembled like a creature facing its natural predator, fleeing in all directions. Tang Yun felt a warm current flooding his entire body; his previously agonizing wounds began healing at a visible rate.

"What… what is this?!" The King of Gu Poison was terrified—he had never seen such a bizarre sight. The golden light on Tang Yun's body filled him with a fear deep within his soul.

Tang Yun took a deep breath, feeling the surging power within him, and smirked. "Old bastard, your time is up!"

He swiftly pulled a set of Jin Zhi from his robe—his own creation, the Five Elements Reincarnation Needle.

This needle technique was the essence of his fusion between the Medicine King Inheritance and his own medical skills, specifically designed to suppress Gu Poison.

"Five Elements Reincarnation, Reverse Heaven and Earth!" Tang Yun muttered sharply; the Jin Zhi in his hand shot out like lightning, precisely piercing several acupoints on his own body.

As the Jin Zhi pierced his skin, his True Qi began flowing in reverse; his previously calm meridians instantly turned violent, like raging rivers on the verge of bursting their banks.

"Ugh!" Tang Yun groaned, his face turning instantly pale, sweat beads rolling down his forehead. Reversing the meridians was a deadly technique—one misstep and he would explode.

"Tang Yun!" Far away, Lin Xiyue watched this scene, her heart in her throat. She wanted to rush over, but found herself utterly powerless, forced to watch helplessly as Tang Yun endured immense pain.

"Hahahaha… boy, you're choosing death yourself!" The King of Gu Poison roared with laughter, already picturing Tang Yun's body exploding.

At that moment, Lin Xiyue bit her fingertip and let a drop of blood fall onto the Bi Pei hanging around her neck. This Bi Pei was an ancestral heirloom of the Lin Family, imbued with immense power.

"With my blood, awaken the ancestral power! Lin Family Forbidden Art: Bloodline Burning!" Lin Xiyue chanted aloud; the Bi Pei blazed with brilliant light, enveloping her in a powerful force.

"What… what is this?!" The King of Gu Poison's laughter cut off abruptly; he felt a crushing pressure that made it hard to breathe.

Lin Xiyue burned her bloodline, activating the Lin Family Forbidden Art, granting Tang Yun his final chance.

Tang Yun endured the agony of reversed meridians, fusing the cultivation methods of the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Heaven Technique and the Medicine King Scripture to unleash the forbidden medical art—Reverse Heaven and Earth!

A stronger golden light erupted from Tang Yun, illuminating the entire Ghost Cry Valley.

"Impossible! This can't be!" The King of Gu Poison screamed in terror, feeling his power being consumed by the golden light.

Tang Yun slowly opened his eyes, golden light flickering within them. "Old bastard, I told you—today is your death day!"

He surged to his feet, his aura bursting forth like a volcanic eruption. His previously collapsing meridians now became incredibly resilient, like iron dragons brimming with power.

"Martial Dao Nine Heavens, Hua Jin Stage… breakthrough!" Tang Yun felt the surging power within him, filled with exhilaration. He had finally broken through the Hua Jin Stage, reaching a higher realm!

"Die!" Tang Yun roared, punching straight toward the King of Gu Poison.

This punch carried all of Tang Yun's strength, like a meteor falling from the sky, radiating an aura of utter destruction.

"Boom!"

With a thunderous crash, the King of Gu Poison was blasted away by Tang Yun's punch, crashing heavily to the ground, lifeless.

Tang Yun stood where he was, gasping for breath, his face pale. Reverse Heaven and Earth had allowed him to break through, but it drained vast amounts of his life force.

"Tang Yun!" Lin Xiyue struggled to her feet and ran toward him.

Tang Yun looked at Lin Xiyue, his heart filled with emotion. He pulled her into a tight embrace and whispered in her ear: "Xiyue, thank you."

Lin Xiyue held him tightly, feeling his warmth, her heart brimming with happiness.

Suddenly, Tang Yun felt the world spin, his vision darkened, and he fainted.

"Tang Yun! Tang Yun!" Lin Xiyue cried out, clutching his body, utterly lost.

At that moment, a black-clad figure suddenly appeared, seized Lin Xiyue, slung her over his shoulder, and vanished into the night.

"Who… who are you? Let me go!" Lin Xiyue struggled desperately, but to no avail.

The black-clad figure ignored her struggles, sprinting with her until he reached a hidden Cave.

"You… are you from the Lin Family?" Lin Xiyue looked around the Cave, startled.

The black-clad figure removed his mask, revealing a familiar face.

"Miss Lin, it's been a long time."

Lin Xiyue widened her eyes, unable to believe what she saw. "You… you're… Lin Feng?!"

Lin Feng's voice was low, trembling. "I've been protecting you in secret."

"Why?" Lin Xiyue blurted out.

Lin Feng did not answer immediately. Instead, he pulled a delicate small box from his robe and handed it to Lin Xiyue. "The Family Head instructed me to give this to you."

Lin Xiyue hesitated, then took the box. Inside was an ancient Bi Pei, identical to the one around her neck, but its color was deeper, emitting a faint golden glow.

"This is…" Lin Xiyue looked at Lin Feng in confusion.

"The Family Head said this is the key to unlocking your Bloodline Power," Lin Feng explained. "Your Bloodline Power is far stronger than you imagine."

Lin Xiyue gripped the Bi Pei tightly; a warm current flooded her body. She recalled the weakness she felt after burning her bloodline to save Tang Yun—could this Bi Pei replenish her strength?

Outside the Cave, Tang Yun lay on the cold ground, his face as pale as paper, his breath faint. He felt as if his body had been hollowed out, utterly drained.

"Xiyue…" Tang Yun murmured her name in delirium.

Suddenly, he felt a warm power flow into his body, repairing his damaged meridians. This power resembled Lin Xiyue's aura, yet was stronger, purer.

Tang Yun snapped open his eyes, golden light flashing briefly within them. He felt his body brimming with strength—stronger than before he broke through the Hua Jin Stage!

"What's happening?" Tang Yun wondered. Had Lin Xiyue saved him?

He struggled to his feet, scanning the surroundings—but Lin Xiyue was gone.

"Xiyue! Where are you?" Tang Yun shouted, his voice echoing through the empty Shan Gu.

Inside the Cave, Lin Xiyue also sensed Tang Yun's presence.
