Chapter 17: Ice Silkworm
"Tang Yun is still alive!" Lin Xiyue cried out in pleasant surprise.
She wanted to rush out to find Tang Yun, but was stopped by Lin Feng.
"Miss Lin, now is not the time." Lin Feng's expression was solemn. "The Family Head has ordered that you cannot leave here until you have fully mastered your bloodline power."
"But Tang Yun, he..." Lin Xiyue said anxiously.
"The Family Head has already sent people to protect him." Lin Feng comforted her. "Rest assured, he will be fine."
Although Lin Xiyue was worried about Tang Yun, she also knew that what Lin Feng said made sense. What she needed to do most right now was to master her bloodline power as quickly as possible so that she could better protect Tang Yun and complete her grand plan for revenge.
On the other side, deep in Ghost Cry Valley, inside a gloomy cave.
The Gu King's body was already battered and broken, its breath fading. But a wisp of its residual soul was attached to a colorful poisonous snake.
"Tang Yun... Lin Xiyue... just you wait..." The Gu King's voice was hoarse and venomous. "I will definitely return..."
The poisonous snake flicked its scarlet tongue, slowly crawled out of the cave, and disappeared into the darkness.
At the same time, in a city thousands of miles away, a glamorously dressed woman was applying bright red lipstick in front of a mirror.
This woman was none other than Tang Yun's fiancée, Zhang Lin.
"Tang Yun, do you think you've won?" Zhang Lin sneered at the mirror. "The good show has only just begun..."
Suddenly, she felt a wave of dizziness, her vision went black, and she lost consciousness.
When she woke up again, she discovered that her eyes were flashing with an eerie red light.
"Hehehe..." Zhang Lin let out a sinister laugh. "Tang Yun, Lin Xiyue, prepare to die..."
The Gu King's residual soul had completely occupied Zhang Lin's body.
A greater conspiracy was quietly brewing...
Tang Yun had searched in the valley for a long time, but could not find any trace of Lin Xiyue. His heart was filled with worry and unease.
"Xiyue, where exactly are you?" Tang Yun roared at the sky, his voice filled with sorrow and despair.
Suddenly, he felt a powerful aura approaching rapidly.
"Who is it?" Tang Yun looked vigilantly in the direction the aura was coming from.
A man dressed in black with a cold expression appeared before Tang Yun.
"Who are you?" Tang Yun asked.
"Asura Guards, Night Owl." The man in black said coldly. "The Family Head has ordered me to protect your safety."
Tang Yun was startled. Asura Guards? Could it be people from the Lin family?
"Where is Lin Xiyue?" Tang Yun asked urgently.
Night Owl did not answer, only saying coldly: "Follow me."
Tang Yun followed Night Owl to a hidden cave. Inside the cave, an old man was sitting cross-legged, eyes closed in meditation.
"Family Head." Night Owl bowed respectfully.
The old man slowly opened his eyes and looked at Tang Yun, a sharp glint flashing through them.
"You are Tang Yun?" the old man asked, his voice low and powerful.
Tang Yun's heart skipped a beat. Who was this old man? Why did he know his name? And the aura on him was actually even more powerful than his own!
"This junior is indeed Tang Yun." Tang Yun replied respectfully.
"Mm." The old man nodded. "Your Medicine King physique has already awakened."
Tang Yun was shocked. Medicine King physique?
The old man seemed to see through Tang Yun's confusion and explained: "The Medicine King physique is an extremely rare constitution that possesses powerful healing abilities and vitality. And your Medicine King physique has some mysterious connection with Lin Xiyue's golden bloodline..."
The old man's words exploded in Tang Yun's ears like a thunderclap.
Medicine King physique? He had never heard of such a physique. He only knew that since he was a child, he had a special sensitivity to herbs and could easily distinguish the medicinal properties and toxicity of various herbs.
"This... what exactly is going on?" Tang Yun looked bewildered.
The old man did not answer directly, but instead looked at Night Owl: "How is his condition?"
Night Owl knelt on one knee and said in a deep voice: "Family Head, Night Eagle was struck by the Gu King's potent poison and fused with the genes of an Ice Silkworm; his condition is critical."
Tang Yun's heart tightened. Night Eagle? Was that the Asura Guard? Only then did he notice that behind Night Owl stood a pale-faced man, who was indeed the man in black who had brought him here earlier.
"Ice Silkworm?" Tang Yun exclaimed. "Isn't that a creature from the Ji Bei Bing Ku? How could it appear here?"
The old man explained: "Before the Gu King died, it attached its residual soul to an Ice Silkworm and fled to the Ji Bei Bing Ku. Now, the Ice Silkworm has evolved into a new type of Gu insect, which is even more dangerous."
A sense of unease rose in Tang Yun's heart. The Gu King wasn't dead yet? And it had evolved?
"We must find the Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm as soon as possible to cure the poison." The old man said in a deep voice. "Tang Yun, are you willing to go?"
Tang Yun nodded without hesitation: "I am willing! Night Eagle was poisoned because he was protecting me; I must save him!"
The old man nodded with satisfaction: "Good! Night Owl, take him to the Ji Bei Bing Ku."
"Yes!" Night Owl accepted the order.
The Ji Bei Bing Ku was frozen for thousands of miles, with snow drifting for ten thousand. The biting cold wind scraped against his face like a knife, making it almost impossible to breathe.
Tang Yun followed closely behind Night Owl, trudging arduously through the snow.
"This Ice Soul Cicada Formation was set up by the Han family." Night Owl suddenly said. "They want to stop us from finding the Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm."
Tang Yun was startled. The Han family? Could it be the Han family that had a feud with the Lin family? Why would they want to stop him?
"Has the Han family colluded with the Gu King?" Tang Yun asked.
Night Owl shook his head: "Unclear, but they must have some ulterior motive."
The two carefully passed through the Ice Soul Cicada Formation and arrived in front of a massive ice cave.
From deep within the ice cave came a series of hissing sounds.
"The Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm is inside." Night Owl said. "Be careful, it is extremely dangerous."
Tang Yun took a deep breath and walked into the ice cave.
Inside the ice cave, the cold was biting, and the ground was covered with a thick layer of ice. A massive Ice Silkworm was coiled in the center of the cave, its entire body exuding a frigid aura.
This Ice Silkworm was several times larger than an ordinary one, its entire body snow-white, emitting a faint fluorescence.
"This is the Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm?" Tang Yun was shocked.
Suddenly, the Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm snapped its eyes open, flashing with a fierce light.
"Hiss hiss..." The Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm let out a sharp hiss and lunged toward Tang Yun.
Tang Yun hurriedly dodged, but the Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm's speed was extremely fast, almost turning into a white blur.
"Careful!" Night Owl warned.
The Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm's attacks were exceptionally fierce, and Tang Yun found it difficult to parry for a moment.
"Damn it!" Tang Yun cursed under his breath; the Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm's power far exceeded his imagination.
Suddenly, the Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm bit down on Tang Yun's shoulder.
The frigid cold air instantly invaded Tang Yun's body, and he felt as if his body was about to be frozen stiff.
"Ah!" Tang Yun couldn't help but let out a miserable scream.
"Tang Yun!" Night Owl exclaimed, wanting to step forward to help, but was forced back by the cold air of the Thousand-Year Ice Silkworm. ===== CHAPTER 18 =====
