Chapter 430: This is the first time (supplemental chapter 3)

~7 min read 1,346 words

This bout of intimacy ended amid Jiang Lai's pleas for mercy.

Jiang Lai shook her head, drenched in sweat: "Another round and I'll die."

Ke Zhongyu said he wouldn't, but he still stopped, rolled over and pulled her into his embrace, their sweaty skin sticking together; because she was the person he liked, he felt no aversion, only satisfaction.

He lowered his head and kissed Jiang Lai's forehead.

Jiang Lai wanted to say it was just sweat, but she was too exhausted to speak, let alone move, so she just went along with Ke Zhongyu.

Dawn broke, and she fell into a deep sleep again.

Ke Zhongyu was full of energy; only after hearing the even breathing of the person in his arms did he release her, get up and go to the bathroom, where in the mirror he saw a scratch on his back.

Jiang Lai's nails were trimmed smooth, so they didn't wound, just left a mark.

Ke Zhongyu couldn't stop looking, even thinking Jiang Lai should use a bit more force, ideally leaving a lasting mark on him, imprinting her mark upon him.

After his shower, Ke Zhongyu came out holding a towel soaked in hot water and wrung dry, and began to wipe the sweat from Jiang Lai's body.

Her hair was all wet, strands sticking to her face.

He gently brushed it aside with his hand, revealing her delicate face, and couldn't help but lower his head to kiss her again.

Lower down was her neck.

Her neck was covered with his marks.

Her legs had plenty too.

Ke Zhongyu felt both genuine pity and genuine excitement.

He left his mark on Jiang Lai.

Jiang Lai was his.

Only his.

Just thinking about it would arouse him.

Ke Zhongyu was about to pull the blanket over Jiang Lai when he caught a glimpse of a dark red spot on the gray sheets; he froze, a flicker of panic in his eyes, then walked aside and called Chi Ce.

Chi Ce, who had taken the call early in the morning, asked: "Has the fever broken or not?"

"It's broken, bring a female doctor." Ke Zhongyu's expression was grave; seeing the kiss marks on Jiang Lai's neck and legs earlier hadn't fazed him, but seeing her hurt by his own hand now made him panic.

This wasn't his intention.

He had already eased his force, yet he hadn't expected to still injure her.

Chi Ce didn't ask further, immediately recommending his fellow sect junior sister Huang Juexi, and went along himself.

When the two arrived, Ke Zhongyu was instructing Mo Yi to prepare a nourishing medicinal meal.

Mo Yi, who usually overthought things, this time didn't think much, simply assuming that Miss Jiang still needed nourishment while ill; after all, she felt that no matter how beastly the Young Master was, he wouldn't take advantage of Miss Jiang's sickness to do something beastly.

Hearing the commotion, Ke Zhongyu looked at the female doctor beside Chi Ce and gestured for her to follow him upstairs.

As they went upstairs, Ke Zhongyu said: "She just broke her fever, but she's also injured."

Huang Juexi secretly wondered: "Shared room?"

Ke Zhongyu blamed himself: "Yeah, bleeding."

Huang Juexi calmly said: "There are many possible causes of injury from sharing a room; further examination is needed."

Ke Zhongyu: "Thank you, doctor."

Huang Juexi blinked, thinking this didn't match the Ke Zong she'd heard about from her senior brother—was he a bit out of character?

She pressed her lips, saying nothing.

Ke Zhongyu led the female doctor in, gesturing for her to keep her voice down, first to do a preliminary check for any serious issues, and to discuss the bleeding from sharing a room only after Jiang Lai woke up.

After Huang Juexi finished the examination gently, she went out and said: "Just overly tired, a bit weak and dehydrated."

Ke Zhongyu also stood at the bedroom door, his gaze on the slight bulge on the bed: "Unconscious?"

Huang Juexi shook her head: "She's just asleep."

Ke Zhongyu exhaled in relief, silently warning himself to exercise more restraint in the future.

Huang Juexi went downstairs, sat with her senior brother on the sofa; Mo Yi quickly brought them tea and water, anxiously asking: "Doctor Huang, how is Miss Jiang's health? Is she alright?"

Huang Juexi: "She's fine."

Mo Yi: "If she's fine, why isn't she waking up? Doctor Chi is still looking for help."

Chi Ce glanced at Ke Zhongyu standing there sipping tea, already guessing what was going on, and didn't dare utter a word.

Huang Juexi smiled: "I'm female, so it's just more convenient to care for a female patient; you needn't worry."

"Really?" Mo Yi half-believed, half-doubted; seeing Doctor Chi also nod, she relented: "Alright then, I'll go make another nourishing soup so Miss Jiang has something to choose from when she wakes up."

Mo Yi dove back into the kitchen.

The three of them could only sit on the sofa waiting for Jiang Lai to wake up.

Meanwhile, Ke Zhongying came, intending to go up and see what was happening, but her older brother sternly refused.

Thus it became four people sitting on the sofa waiting.

Ke Zhongyu didn't want to stare at them, so he got up and returned to the bedroom, working at his desk before Jiang Lai woke up, glancing up every ten minutes or so to see if the person on the bed had moved.

Noon.

Jiang Lai woke up from hunger.

During those two days and nights in the lab, she not only missed meals, she ate little, barely sustaining herself on willpower and coffee.

Leaving the lab, she hadn't even had a bite of the bun Ke Zhongying handed her before she fainted; after waking she drank half a bowl of millet porridge, then before dawn she and Ke Zhongyu tangled for over two hours, exhaustion overtaking hunger, and she fell asleep again.

Having slept nearly enough, her growling stomach began to protest, forcing her to open her eyes.

Jiang Lai was about to push herself up to sit, but her whole body felt sore and weak, her arms and legs hard to lift, especially her hips aching the most.

She hissed, sucking in a breath of cool air; Ke Zhongyu heard, looked up, quickly set aside his work, went to the bedside, took her fingers and kissed them, asking how she was.

Jiang Lai didn't say it hurt; she only said: "Ke Zhongyu, you're too fierce."

"My fault." Ke Zhongyu lowered his head to kiss her face, let her lie down properly, went to fetch food himself, and also called the doctor.

Jiang Lai immediately grabbed Ke Zhongyu's wrist: "Doctor Chi?"

Ke Zhongyu: "Female doctor."

Jiang Lai had just let out half a breath of relief, then doubts arose again: why look for a female doctor? She's already reduced her fever; taking her own temperature isn't hard.

Any movement hurts, so she simply stayed still, waiting for the female doctor to come in.

The female doctor gave a self-introduction, and Jiang Lai called her Doctor Huang.

"Doctor Huang, my fever has subsided."

"I know." Huang Juexi put on gloves, gently said what she would examine, and ended with, "May I?"

Jiang Lai suddenly widened her eyes, then glanced elsewhere, trying to stay calm as she said: "I'm fine, no need for a special check."

Huang Juexi saw her nervousness, sat down slowly, and said in a gentle, steady tone: "Domestic people usually avoid discussing gynecological issues, but women's health cannot be ignored; vigorous activity carries the risk of triggering ovarian corpus luteum rupture and may worsen pelvic inflammation. I'll do a basic check-up for you, all right?"

If it were a theoretical discussion, Jiang Lai wouldn't be shy either, but she really feels fine, just that her whole body is sore.

Huang Juexi said: "Soreness is normal, but Boss Ke said you were bleeding."

Jiang Lai suddenly froze, reached under the blanket to feel, and told Doctor Huang: "I've never had this before; it's my first time."
