Chapter 138: I

~4 min read 776 words

Fu Sijue simply took Yun Ruojin's phone home.

Fu Mingcheng, in a rather good mood, sat in the garden, chatting with Uncle Chen.

Uncle Chen saw at a glance that Fu Sijue was in a bad mood, casually made up a reason and went back to the room.

Fu Mingcheng glanced at Fu Sijue and said, "You still remember to come back and see me? Ignoring the company altogether?"

Even when Fu Mingcheng was happy, his face showed no hint of it.

"You little brat, you still dare to lie to me now."

Fu Mingcheng didn't beat around the bush; he directly laid out the matter, watching Fu Sijue's expression.

"I told you there's nothing good about Xi Wan that could make you even disdain the Yun Family's girl."

Fu Mingcheng's tone was far from pleasant, even sounding like he wanted to settle scores later.

Fu Sijue replied, "My disapproval of Yun Ruojin has never been just because I don't like her; Grandfather thinks he has good taste, and the kind of person he chose is exactly like that!"

The grandfather and grandson faced off, each refusing to yield.

In the end, Fu Mingcheng spoke first.

"Then tell me, what did I see wrong?"

The Yun Family, being old friends of theirs with a strict household tradition, made Fu Mingcheng truly doubt that Yun Ruojin could have any problem.

"To break up me and Xi Wan, she spread rumors repeatedly, even going as far as hiring people to stalk Xi Wan!"

Fu Sijue placed the phone directly on the table.

Besides Yun Ruojin, he couldn't imagine anyone else being so idle as to specifically keep tabs on Lu Xiwán and even send him photos.

"To split you up?! That Xi Wan girl told me everything; if she didn't want the Marriage Alliance she caused this scene, Fu Sijue, you're really becoming more and more accomplished!"

Fu Mingcheng's tone instantly ceased to be pleasant; he sat up and began to argue with Fu Sijue.

Neither would give in, and Fu Sijue's face turned ashen.

"You call me 'Grandfather', but when have you ever done something that truly pleased me? Back then, when you were with that little girl from the Lu family, I even wondered whether my old stubbornness in arranging things made you uncomfortable; you kept saying you liked her, then suddenly turned and got together with Gu Qingmeng!"

Fu Mingcheng's face flushed red as he began to meticulously berate Fu Sijue.

"All these years you've been hiring people and investigating; when did I ever block you? Look at it now— I shouldn't have let you be with Wanwan; if it weren't for you, the wayward son, could Wanwan have gone missing?"

He let out the words he'd been holding inside in one breath, and Fu Mingcheng felt much better.

Has he ever not wanted Fu Sijue to live well?

"You blame me for finding unsuitable people; why don't you find someone reliable yourself! Do you like that girl, or are you treating her as a replacement for Wanwan?"

"Putting Yun Ruojin aside, A Jue, what on earth are you thinking?"

Mentioning Lu Xiwán, Fu Mingcheng felt a gutful of guilt.

He had promised the family to take good care of the little girl.

Now it's turned into this mess.

Fu Mingcheng didn't even have the face to see them.

"Think it over yourself! From now on I won't meddle in any of your affairs; who you choose to be with is your freedom!"

After saying that, Fu Mingcheng turned his face away and didn't look at him.

Only after Fu Sijue left did Uncle Chen come out of the room.

"Sir, why must you? Both you and the young master are strong-willed; can't you each take a step back?"

Fu Mingcheng snorted coldly, "I just want this little brat to truly look at his own heart!"

When Fu Sijue returned home, he saw Lu Xiwán sitting on the sofa.

"Why did you come back so early today?" she asked, surprised at Fu Sijue's sudden return.

The computer screen in front of her still displayed the manuscript; there was no time even to hide it.

Fu Sijue's expression remained unchanged, "There are some things I need to ask you."

"You were with Luo Zhou yesterday."

Lu Xiwán nodded; she wouldn't lie in front of Fu Sijue.

Fu Sijue must have learned something.

"You told Grandfather about us."

Fu Sijue's heart throbbed inexplicably, and his gaze toward Lu Xiwán grew increasingly profound.

"One lie can only be covered by countless lies."

The longer it goes on, the harder it is to resolve.

"Are you preparing to leave?"
