Chapter 139: What a coincidence!

~4 min read 625 words

After finishing breakfast, Lu Xiwán hobbled up the stairs.

When she again struggled down the stairs, she was surprised to see Fu Sijue, who should have already gone to work.

He was even still wearing pajamas.

"Not going to work today?" As soon as Lu Xiwán asked, she almost bit her own tongue.

She and Fu Sijue weren't close enough for her to be concerned about him.

Fu Sijue lifted his eyelid and glanced at Lu Xiwán, "Are you going out?"

He didn't answer Lu Xiwán directly; his indifferent gaze left her inexplicably at a loss.

In less than ten seconds, she thought of ten reasons.

In the end she forced a calm demeanor, leaned against the wall and walked up to Fu Sijue, "It's a workday, I still have to go to work."

"Even a nominal shareholder of Yunsheng Studio has to go to work?" she said, her tone somewhat dissatisfied.

Lu Xiwán tried to guess this towering Buddha's thoughts but couldn't, so she forced herself to sit on the sofa, pretending to be calm.

"The Spring Fashion Show is about to start, I'll go over and see if I can help."

"Yunsheng shouldn't be that short of staff, yet you have to go in wounded?" Fu Sijue's gaze added a hint of curiosity.

That look made Lu Xiwán's heart crawl.

Fu Sijue's thoughts were unpredictable; who could know what he was pondering now.

"I originally said I wouldn't go, but I can't spare the time, so I'll just go and watch them work more closely."

She fabricated a reason, shifted her gaze, and grabbed the bag that had been casually placed on the coffee table.

"It's getting late, President Fu should also go to work now."

If she kept exchanging fierce stares with Fu Sijue, Lu Xiwán's heart would go out of rhythm.

Just as Lu Xiwán stood up, Zhong Yun happened to walk in from outside.

Lu Xiwán clutched the lifeline and walked over slowly.

"Call the child out; it's time to start a new round of treatment," Zhong Yun said, a hint of smile on his face as he looked at Lu Xiwán, but his gaze instantly cooled when it reached Fu Sijue.

He visibly showed his disdain for him.

"Yao Yao, as long as you look after me I'm relieved, Senior Brother, I'll step out for a bit."

Lu Xiwán turned back, looking at the immovable Fu Sijue, and felt worried.

The two of them staying together in a room for a long time would eventually lead to a fight.

"President Fu, you and I should go out together."

Fu Sijue: "Yao Yao's treatment is today; I had Shen Shu cancel all the arrangements."

As he said this, his lower jaw lifted slightly, his expression softened a bit, and his gaze stared straight at Lu Xiwán, with an unmistakable hint of smugness.

It inexplicably reminded Lu Xiwán of bragging about having a little red‑flower child.

But seeing that expression on Fu Sijue's face was extremely terrifying.

It could be called bizarre.

Lu Xiwán couldn't withstand this Fu Sijue; she forced an awkward laugh, chuckled, and limped out.

She couldn't bear to watch even a moment longer.

When Lu Xiwán wasn't looking, Zhong Yun sneered disdainfully.

Fu Sijue's face changed as if swapping masks.

When the two locked eyes, the air seemed ready to spark.

Zhong Yun plopped onto the sofa, not even glancing at Fu Sijue, and said, "Petty tricks."

Fu Sijue didn't mind; he stood up and headed upstairs, standing on the second floor and watching Zhong Yun from afar with indifference.

"If you have the ability, let her look at you a bit more."

Having barely escaped the battlefield, Lu Xiwán let out a long sigh of relief.
