Chapter 29: What

~4 min read 637 words

Xie Zian snorted, "If you don't want to say it, then don't. We're so close—can you really let me go abroad for further study? Don't be so heartless!"

"Tell me, what exactly is special about that girl that makes you, of all people, make an exception."

There are hundreds, even a thousand, chasing Fu Sijue; if everyone were this attentive, Fu Sijue would have died of exhaustion long ago.

"You gave me such a lousy idea, and now you want to pry these from my mouth. Do you think that's possible?" Fu Sijue raised his hand and tossed the folder toward Xie Zian.

He didn't even bother to settle scores with Xie Zian, and this guy still has the nerve to act cute and obedient here.

"If you're going to manage my time, you'd be better off honestly finding a girlfriend for yourself, so you don't have to listen to family nagging all day."

Xie Zian is becoming a regular guest on the entertainment section; the ever‑changing female counterpart, the iron‑clad Xie Zian, is a constant source of worry with their flirtations.

"I'm still very young; what are you trying to control me for? I haven't had enough fun yet; marriage can wait until later." Xie Zian idly twirled the pen in hand, casually crossing their legs.

"Can you properly pick a few eye‑catching pieces for your Fashion Week? Stop bringing those obvious show‑off vases that have no talent."

Xie Zian looks at those repetitive works every day and is suffering from aesthetic fatigue.

"The competing studios are selected; the Fu Clan only provides them a space to showcase, and who you ultimately choose is your freedom—I don't interfere."

Fu Sijue is too lazy to bother with those petty details; let Xie Zian decide this alone.

"If the Fu Clan really has money with nowhere to spend it, just donate it all to me, the young master; why waste so much just to stand out among the short ones?"

Xie Zian ignored their family business and ended up at the Fu Family as an idle designer; in a place like the Fu Clan where talent abounds, it's rare to find designs that earn Xie Zian's approval. The annual Fashion Week critiques are Xie Zian's greatest dread.

You can't hurt the contestants' fragile egos, nor let them miss out on growth—doesn't that amount to a living torment?

"Supporting rising stars and seeking investable studios domestically is also a Fu Family venture." Fu Sijue has little else, but plenty of money.

Investing in promising studios only requires some capital; the returns thereafter are limitless.

"I'm not interested in your business talk; I just want to know what that girl's status is—does she look good, or is her family wealthy?"

Xie Zian already ruled out the latter; someone like Fu Sijue, a tycoon, doesn't need to sell their body for extra profit.

"Are you done?" Fu Sijue had nothing to say; the folder he just threw was too small to hurt.

Xie Zian slapped the pen onto the table, "If you don't want to say, fine."

He already had other ways in mind for things he wanted to know but couldn't uncover.

"Put away those weird ideas." Fu Sijue saw through what Xie Zian was thinking.

Xie Zian was thick‑skinned, didn't take Fu Sijue's threat to heart, and instead made a goofy face.

"You can't just forbid me from satisfying my curiosity, can you? If you have no curiosity yourself, fine, but you also want to strip away my seven emotions and six desires?"

Xie Zian whistled and left, and once outside immediately grabbed Shen Shu to question.

"President Fu has only been shuttling between Hengshan Gongguan and the company these past few days, not going anywhere special. Young master Xie, don't ask more." Shen Shu wore a helpless expression.
