Chapter 15: I Buy Things for My Partner—None of Your Damn Business!
The sales clerk said beside them, "Ah, this clothing is practically tailor‑made for you! So fitting, looks wonderful!"
Su Ruan tried the Dress and the white shirt again, each set exuding a different charm, making Jiang Ran's eyes dazzle; he felt every piece was beautiful and was reluctant to let her take any off.
"Wrap them all up!" Jiang Ran waved his hand grandly, "Also that red one over there—yes, that checkered coat—bring it for a try!"
In the end, Jiang Ran almost bought every good‑looking garment in the department store that fit Su Ruan's size.
From top to bottom, even winter coats and padded jackets were pre‑ordered, two of each.
If Su Ruan hadn't blocked him, he would have cleared the counter!
The sales clerk laughed broadly, packing several large bundles.
Jiang Ran carried the big and small bags, looking at the newly refreshed Su Ruan beside him, feeling a huge sense of satisfaction and pride.
This is his wife! The most beautiful wife in the world!
"Come on! Wife, let's buy a new pair of leather shoes! Then I'll take you to a Western meal!"
Jiang Ran was excited, as if he wanted to present the whole world to her.
Su Ruan looked at his sparkling eyes and that self‑satisfied "seeking praise" expression, and her heart softened completely.
She proactively reached out, took his arm, looked up and gave him a sweet smile: "Alright, I'll do as brother says."
That smile, that arm‑around instantly made Jiang Ran feel that the little "torture" in the fitting room was totally worth the price!
After buying the clothes, Jiang Ran's two hands were full, yet he remained energetic, showing no sign of fatigue.
He looked at Su Ruan beside him in the newly bought beige cardigan and black pants, fresh as a lotus after rain, and couldn't get enough of the view.
"Come, RuanRuan, I'll take you to a nice place!"
Jiang Ran smiled mysteriously, leading her down a small Alley behind the department store.
The Alley was a hidden world, full of bustling street‑food atmosphere. Various snack stalls crowded together, the air scented with oil, spices and doughy aromas.
Vendors selling fried cake, candied hawthorn, tofu pudding, soup dumplings… shouts, haggling, diners' chatter intertwined, lively indeed.
"Didn't expect so many tasty treats here, huh?" Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow proudly, "This is far more flavorful than a big hotel; order whatever you want!"
Su Ruan's eyes lit up at the bustling scene.
She had passed through countless luxurious occasions, yet this noisy, modest snack stall moved her heart more.
"That fried cake looks so fragrant!" she pointed at a sizzling, golden‑brown fried cake in an oil pot.
"Buy!" Jiang Ran shouted to the stall owner, "Master, two fried cakes! Fresh out of the wok!"
The steaming fried cakes arrived, crisp outside, soft red‑bean paste inside; they were hot enough that Su Ruan blew on them, taking small bites, squinting happily.
"Eat slowly, no one will snatch them from you."
Jiang Ran watched her cute hamster‑like demeanor, his heart melting, and couldn't help to wipe a bit of bean paste from the corner of her mouth.
The gesture was natural and affectionate.
Su Ruan's cheeks flushed slightly, but she didn't pull away; instead she licked the corner of her mouth with his hand, eyes flickering, giving him a glance.
That glance made Jiang Ran's fingers tingle like electricity; he quickly withdrew his hand, his ears turning red quietly.
He thought inwardly: This girl, she's flirting nonstop!
From then on, Jiang Ran fully entered "feeding" mode.
"RuanRuan, try this candied hawthorn; the pits are removed, not sour!"
"This tofu pudding is savory; can you handle it? Add some chili oil for extra flavor!"
"Soup dumplings! This place's broth‑filled buns are superb! Be careful not to burn yourself sipping the broth!"
He was like a boy eager to share treasure, buying everything he thought delicious to let Su Ruan sample.
Su Ruan accepted everything without refusal, tasting each curiously, eyes sparkling, smile ever present at the corners.
The two fed each other, occasionally sharing a smile, eyes locking, the surrounding air filled with an intimacy and sweetness no outsider could breach.
Jiang Ran's normally cocky tough‑guy aura turned into clumsy yet passionate gentleness before Su Ruan.
Yet this warm sweet scene was spotted by Shi Tou, Da Liu and others who had turned into the Alley looking for food.
"Whoa! Jiang Ran?!" Shi Tou's sharp eyes were the first to notice, dropping the cigarette he held in shock.
The group followed his gaze and saw their usually arrogant, fiercest fighter Jiang Ran carefully holding a string of candied hawthorn, feeding a stunningly beautiful girl; his gaze was so gentle it could drip water!
"Did I go blind? That's Jiang Ran?" Da Liu rubbed his eyes.
"That girl… isn't she the one from the Billiard Hall yesterday? Really?"
"Jiang Ran this… is just too cheesy!" The group cooed, both envious and jeering.
Lin Wei, who had come with them, saw Jiang Ran and Su Ruan at that moment, and her smile froze completely.
Especially seeing Jiang Ran so tenderly wipe Su Ruan's mouth, seeing Su Ruan in obviously new clothes, witnessing their glaring intimacy… she felt a surge of hot‑blooded rage, jealousy and anger gnawing her heart like a poisonous snake!
The humiliation from the Billiard Hall yesterday resurfaced.
That pretentious woman had stolen Jiang Ran from her!
She could no longer bear it, thrust aside Shi Tou and the others, and stormed forward with a fierce aura.
"Jiang Ran!"
Lin Wei's voice was sharp and high, brimming with uncontainable anger and grievance, instantly shattering the Alley's warm atmosphere.
Jiang Ran was listening to Su Ruan describe the tofu pudding as delicious; hearing the voice, he looked up, saw Lin Wei, and his brows furrowed automatically: "Lin Wei? What are you doing here?"
His tone carried a hint of irritated annoyance at being disturbed.
Su Ruan also looked up, saw the "good brother" from yesterday, her mouth twitched faintly, then she regained composure, even slightly shrinking behind Jiang Ran, looking startled.
That small movement further provoked Lin Wei.
Lin Wei rushed before the two, eyes blazing, finger almost stabbing Su Ruan's face, shouting at Jiang Ran: "Jiang Ran! What do you think you're doing? You just met this mysterious woman yesterday, and today you buy her so many things? Bring her here? Do you even know her? Are you being scammed and paying her money!"
Her words were extremely harsh, loud, instantly drawing the attention of many diners and stall owners nearby.
Jiang Ran's complexion darkened instantly, tightening his grip on Su Ruan, his gaze icy as he stared at Lin Wei: "Lin Wei! What the hell are you talking about? I buy things for my partner, take her wherever, none of your business! Who do you think you are, pointing fingers here?"
