Chapter 82: I Want to Do Business Too!

~6 min read 1,181 words

A few of them exchanged glances, feeling a bit awkward, yet the purpose of speaking was surprisingly the same—

They had all heard of Chongsu's reputation and wanted to slip through the Factory Director's back door to see if they could get help buying a piece of clothing, or at least learn about new arrivals in advance.

Jiang Jianguo looked at these normally decisive female subordinates, now hesitating over a piece of clothing, and thought how both laughable and pitiful it was.

His son, who used to cause trouble, and his calm, gentle daughter‑in‑law have cooked up a business whose influence has even spread into his factory?

He cleared his throat, maintaining his usual sternness: "Comrades, the kids doing a little side business is their own skill."

"But as elders and as officials of the factory, we must not set a precedent for favoritism. Purchases still have to follow the shop's rules."

The female comrades instantly showed disappointed expressions.

Jiang Jianguo shifted his tone and added, "However, I'll pass on your support for Chongsu to Su Ruan."

"As for whether you can buy anything or when new items arrive, I truly don't know; you'll have to watch the shop yourselves."

Though no firm promise was given, the Factory Director's agreement to convey the message was at least a consolation.

The few thanked him and left, looking disgruntled.

Jiang Jianguo watched the closed door, shook his head, yet the corner of his mouth barely lifted upward.

That kid and RuanRuan really managed to pull off something noteworthy.

City Hospital, internal‑medicine nurse station.

Li Huijuan had just finished a ward check and returned to the nurse station, about to write a record, when a few familiar nurses and a female doctor surrounded her.

"Sister Li! You really are low‑key!" a young nurse looped her arm, exaggerating, "Your daughter‑in‑law's shop is now the hot topic in our hospital!"

"Indeed, Li Doctor," the female doctor adjusted her glasses and smiled, "my husband told me yesterday that several female colleagues at their unit were talking about a shop called 'Chongsu'; the clothes are exquisitely beautiful and unique!"

"When I asked, I learned it's the wife of your Ranran who opened it! You're really fortunate!"

Another slightly older nurse leaned in, whispering, "Huijuan, given our connection, tell RuanRuan that next time there's good clothing we should get first dibs as insiders! The price can be negotiated!"

Li Huijuan was swarmed by her colleagues' chatter, and the flood of praise and envy made her feel as sweet as honey.

She had long worried about her son's marriage, never expecting that he not only married such a fine wife but that the two of them would be so accomplished.

"Their kids are handling it themselves; I only just learned how lively it's become," Li Huijuan said modestly, though her smile couldn't hide it, "I heard it's limited edition with strict rules, so I can't intervene."

"But if you're interested, you can drop by during a break; the shop is over at City West Guihua Alley, and the setting is quite nice."

"We'll definitely go, definitely go!"

"Yes, yes, yes, we'll go this weekend!"

The coworkers echoed enthusiastically, their eyes toward Li Huijuan filled with obvious envy.

In the past, everyone privately speculated about what would become of the Jiang Family's Chaos Demon King.

Who could have guessed they not only married a wife like a fairy but also proved so capable as a couple!

Li Huijuan truly has gone from hardship to sweetness!

That evening, back home, the family sat around the dinner table.

Jiang Jianguo casually mentioned, "Several comrades from the factory asked me today about Chongsu clothing."

Li Huijuan immediately replied, "Our hospital too! Several colleagues asked me if they could use a back door!"

Jiang Jiaojiao was sipping soup, and upon hearing that, she set her bowl down and excitedly interjected, "Right, right! Dad, Mom, you didn't see yesterday's scene! My god, it was a sea of people!"

"Those three outfits were snatched madly! I almost couldn't squeeze in!"

She puffed out her chest with pride, as if she owned the shop.

Jiang Nainai listened gleefully, repeatedly passing dishes to Su Ruan, "I told you RuanRuan is a lucky star, capable of great deeds!"

Su Ruan blushed a little from the praise, "It's the result of everyone's effort, especially Jiang Ran's excellent design."

Jiang Ran listened to his family's back‑and‑forth compliments, and looking at his gently smiling wife, the pride and satisfaction inside him nearly overflowed.

When he was still reckless, his father faced plenty of private gossip at the factory, and his mother likely received many sympathetic looks at the hospital.

But now, because of him and RuanRuan, what his parents hear at work is all envy and praise!

That feeling is more exhilarating than any amount of money he's earned.

He scooped a big mouthful of rice, mumbling yet firmly, "Dad, Mom, rest assured. If anyone asks again, just send them to the shop!"

"We'll definitely earn our living on merit, never seek special treatment! And we'll never embarrass you!"

Jiang Jianguo gazed at the long‑missing, positively charged gleam in his son's eyes, felt a flood of emotions, and nodded, "Yes, once rules are set, they must be upheld. In business, integrity and reputation are paramount."

Li Huijuan smiled appreciatively, "Do your best; Mom and Dad support you."

Watching Su Ruan and Jiang Ran's business thrive, Su Yanhua felt increasingly uneasy.

Why does Su Ruan get unlimited glory?

Why can she be held in the Jiang Family's palm and make big money?

What's the one thing she lacks compared to her?!

Liu Wenbin's salary, after daily expenses and social obligations, left barely enough for her to dress like those fashionable women.

The dispute over the skirt purchase was temporarily suppressed, yet the rift between them grew deeper.

Su Yanhua knew it was unrealistic to expect Liu Wenbin to soar to success quickly; she had to find a way herself.

She also wanted to do business; she also wanted to make big money!

She wanted to outshine Su Ruan!

But what should she do?

She can't draw like Su Ruan, knows nothing about design, and can't bring herself to hawk goods at a street stall.

She furrowed her brows, pondering, scanned the house with her eyes, and finally settled on the kitchen stove.

She recalled that the only skill she could boast of was her cooking Handcraft, especially a few small pastries that neighbors at her parents' home once praised.

How about… selling food?

The more Su Yanhua thought about it, the more selling snacks seemed feasible; the spark in her heart rose, as if she already envisioned the day she could finally hold her head high.

She calculated that the Startup Capital wasn't large, Liu Wenbin's salary had just been paid, so asking him for a bit of seed money should be easy.

She waited eagerly until Liu Wenbin finished work and came home; just as she took his briefcase, she couldn't wait to say, "Wen Bin, I have something to discuss with you."
