Chapter 62: His Requirements
"W-what requirements?" she asked.
Han Yangting looked at her for a moment, first kissing her on the forehead, then saying, "All of my requirements. Starting today, I will bring them up little by little. Let's not talk about it now; let's go eat first."
"Oh."
She could finally get down from his lap, and she let out a sigh of relief.
……
The food had already been set on the table, and the two sat down to eat face to face.
Today there was shrimp and fish; the meal was light overall, very suitable for Bai Shuruo's current physical condition.
She was just about to pick up a shrimp, but Han Yangting had already helped her by placing it in her bowl first.
"Thank you, Brother Han," Bai Shuruo said.
Just as she was about to eat, Han Yangting passed his bowl in front of her.
She was puzzled; what was this for?
"Help me pick a piece of fish," he said. "I just helped you pick a shrimp, so you have to pick a piece of fish for me."
She understood; this was his requirement. It was easy enough, so she hurriedly picked a piece of fish belly for him.
"I want a shrimp too," he said.
So she picked a shrimp for him as well.
Just as she was about to pick a piece of fish for herself, he stopped her with his chopsticks, not letting her pick it herself, but insisting on doing it for her.
Bai Shuruo looked at the fish in her bowl and couldn't help but say, "Brother Han, why do we have to do this... picking food for each other back and forth? Can't we just pick whatever we want to eat ourselves?"
He raised his eyelids: "Loving couples all eat like this. This is my requirement."
"……" Alright then!
That night, Bai Shuruo couldn't sleep, so she planned to come out and watch some television.
Passing by the gym, she saw Han Yangting was working out.
She didn't want to disturb him and was about to leave, but was stopped by Han Yangting.
"Ruoruo, come here!"
She had no choice but to walk over.
Walking up to him, she immediately said guardedly, "Brother Han, I've just recovered, and the doctor said I can't do strenuous exercise."
She didn't want to work out with him.
"I'm not asking you to work out," Han Yangting said, then winked at her while lifting weights.
What did this mean?
"Brother Han, what's wrong?"
Han Yangting stopped, puffed out his chest, and said, "When we were at the hospital, didn't you say you wanted to touch my muscles? You can touch the muscles all over my body whenever you want."
Bai Shuruo blushed and ran away.
It was too terrifying; when a man starts expressing his requirements, in order to prove he isn't gay, he is actually this bold!
She hurried to the living room, turned on the television, and picked a newly released suspense drama to watch.
Suspense dramas were better for distracting her, letting her heart, which was pounding like a startled deer, slowly return to calm.
After only one episode, Han Yangting came over too.
He had finished his workout, showered, and changed into dry, casual loungewear.
Bai Shuruo knew he didn't like watching dramas, thinking he wouldn't be able to sit for long.
Who would have thought that after he sat down, he would point to his own shoulder.
"?" Bai Shuruo was confused.
Seeing she didn't understand, he pulled her toward him, and just like that, her head rested on his shoulder.
Han Yangting said, "Aren't you uncomfortable? It's more comfortable to lean on my shoulder."
Bai Shuruo didn't know if this counted as a way of expressing a requirement, but it was definitely a way to prove he wasn't gay.
It was quite comfortable to have her head on his shoulder; his shoulders were broad, sturdy, and muscular, but her heart couldn't calm down. All her attention was now on him—the scent of him having just bathed, the rhythm of his breathing, the soft texture of his clothes...
She hurriedly moved away from his shoulder and said, "Brother Han, I—I'll just use a cushion."
After saying this, she took a throw pillow to pad her back and took another to hold in front of her chest.
"You don't need it, but what if I have a requirement?" he said again.
"You... what are you doing?"
He smiled, then leaned over and lay down, resting his head on the pillow on her lap.
Uh...
Although his head wasn't heavy, and with the pillow in between, it couldn't be considered a burden, but with such an ambiguous gesture, how could she still have the heart to watch TV?
She didn't dare to move at all, fearing that if she did, his head would fall off.
Yet he seemed to enjoy the chaos, turning over so his face was pressed against her stomach.
Her whole body felt as if it had stiffened; even her breathing paused for a moment.
But he closed his eyes contentedly, a trace of a smile appearing at the corners of his mouth.
In the living room, the television played the suspenseful plot with tense background music; on the sofa, the man's head rested on the woman's lap, looking very harmonious, just like a loving couple.
……
Bai Shuruo didn't know if Han Yangting had fallen asleep. After about half an hour, her thigh was almost numb, and he finally got up, saying contentedly, "Tonight was very comfortable. Ruoruo, thank you."
Bai Shuruo: "..."
Should she say "you're welcome"?
"It's late, time to sleep. Turn off the TV," he said, then picked up the remote and turned off the television.
Bai Shuruo did not object, nor did she have any reason to object; it seemed that whatever he did was perfectly reasonable.
Seeing her still sitting there, he asked again, "What's wrong? Can't walk? Did I make your legs go numb? I'm really sorry, I accidentally fell asleep just now."
He even smiled apologetically.
"I-it is a little numb," Bai Shuruo said.
It would have been better if she hadn't said that, but as soon as she did, he actually leaned over, one hand wrapping around her waist, the other supporting her legs.
"Brother Han..."
Before she could refuse, he had already picked her up.
"To show my apology, I'll carry you back," Han Yangting said, a smile playing on his lips.
Bai Shuruo had inexplicably fallen into his arms, feeling both nervous and shy at this moment.
Han Yangting picked her up and added, "My glasses are loose, help me adjust them."
Bai Shuruo reached out to push up his gold-rimmed glasses; his nearsightedness was not severe, and he only wore them occasionally when watching television or working.
After adjusting the glasses, he carried her into the room.
After carrying her to the bed and laying her down, he was in no hurry to leave, instead sitting by the bedside and looking at her, as if he were about to devour her.
"H-Brother Han..." Bai Shuruo subconsciously covered her chest.
She was worried that he would want her tonight.
After all, he had said he had needs, and he wanted to prove that he was not gay.
Han Yangting looked at her for a while, and sure enough, he leaned in toward her.
She immediately closed her eyes.
However, he only planted a kiss on her forehead, and after she opened her eyes, he said, "You aren't feeling well, get a good night's sleep."
"Mm," she nodded impatiently.
Han Yangting finally went out; after he closed the door, she let out a long sigh of relief and buried her head in the pillow.
It was simply too shy, too embarrassing.
Tossing and turning in the covers for a long time, she finally drifted off to sleep.
The next day.
Bai Shuruo woke up, and the sky was already bright.
The first moment she opened her eyes, she thought of the time she spent with Han Yangting, and she inexplicably became nervous again, worried that he would express his needs again.
Although it wasn't excessive, she was just nervous.
It just so happened that she still had two days of vacation and didn't have to go to work.
She really regretted it; she shouldn't have taken such a long break.
After washing up and changing her clothes, Bai Shuruo looked at herself in the mirror, confirming that she was dressed very conservatively, without a hint of exposure, even her sweater was a turtleneck, and only then did she walk out.
There was no one outside, and Han Yangting's room door was open; she took a look, and there was no one there either.
Just as she was about to breathe a sigh of relief, she heard him call out to her: "Ruoruo, come in for a moment."
