Chapter 61: Offering Yourself Is the Only Interesting Thing

~8 min read 1,516 words

Late at night, Bai Shuruo could not fall asleep for a long time.

Although the two had lived together for a long time, they had never stayed in the same room; once the hospital room door closed, it meant she and he were staying in the same room.

Han Yangting took a shower, then called Ali to come over and take the dirty clothes back to wash, after which he lay down on the companion bed nearby.

Perhaps because he was not used to the bed, or perhaps because he was a germaphobe, he could not lie still, so he leaned halfway against the head of the bed to play on his phone.

Bai Shuruo turned off the television and also looked at her phone for a while.

Quite a few teammates who went to Xijiang together asked her how her situation was now, if she had improved, and also said they envied her for being picked up by a private jet; her husband was indeed wealthy.

Bai Shuruo replied to them one by one, saying that the private jet was not her husband's, but his friend's.

But everyone was still envious; birds of a feather flock together, if his friend had a jet, then how poor could he be?

He Jian from the same department also asked her how her situation was now and how many more days of leave she needed, though it was likely just a routine inquiry, and Bai Shuruo replied to him as well.

After finishing replying to all the messages that needed replying, Bai Shuruo turned her head to glance at Han Yangting.

He had actually already fallen asleep; it must have been because he was too tired from taking care of her.

When he slept, he lay on his side, his body half-curled, sleeping very quietly.

She could not help but turn over, staring at him blankly.

After watching for a while, she unexpectedly fell asleep as well without realizing it.

……

After staying in the hospital for three nights, the doctor finally approved for Bai Shuruo to go home.

Bai Shuruo's body recovered very quickly, she was no longer dizzy, and now even running was no problem.

Finally returning to 1601 at Sunshine Flower City, returning to that room Han Yangting had prepared for her, she let out a heavy sigh of relief.

Home is still the most comfortable!

She had always felt the pink quilt Han Yangting prepared for her was a bit childish, but during those days in Xijiang, what she missed most was this soft bed and this quilt printed with cartoon patterns.

She lay on the bed, rubbing her face against the quilt; it was a familiar scent.

After lying there for a while longer, she changed into loungewear and walked out.

Han Yangting really never had a moment of rest; he was busy taking care of her at the hospital, and the first thing he did after returning home was to go into the kitchen to cook.

Watching him wearing an apron and holding a kitchen knife to chop vegetables, Bai Shuruo was suddenly moved at that moment.

She walked behind him as if possessed and hugged his waist from behind.

Han Yangting froze for a moment.

After a while, he turned around, looked down at her, and asked, "Why are you hugging me?"

She lowered her head, not daring to look into his eyes, and it took a great deal of effort to get the words out completely: "Brother Han, you... you are too good, thank you for taking care of me all these days."

He looked at her, his hands suddenly passing around her waist, pulling her into his embrace.

She bumped into his chest, and suddenly goosebumps broke out all over her body; that tingling sensation came again, and along with it, her lower abdomen felt heavy, and her heart was thumping wildly.

"You were the one who hugged me first just now," he said.

She did not make a sound, burying her face in his chest, only feeling her face burning intensely.

He was not finished yet, leaning down to her ear: "Words of thanks are meaningless if said too much; if you could offer yourself, that would be best."

Upon hearing this, she subconsciously pushed him away immediately, "Han, Brother Han, you..."

She could not say anything coherent for a long time.

They were already married; wasn't it normal for a husband and wife to do these things?

She looked up and saw his expression was serious, as if he were unhappy.

She immediately felt she was being pretentious again.

She simply stood in front of him, then said with a look of resignation, "Brother Han, I... I can."

"Can what?" he asked in return, his gaze burning.

"Can offer myself," she said, biting her lip.

"How will you offer yourself?"

She bit her lip even harder, and suddenly, she stood on her tiptoes and pecked him on the lips.

"Just like that?" he asked.

She was already as embarrassed as she could possibly be, "I... how about we stop here for today, next time, next time..."

Just as she was about to escape the kitchen, he suddenly pulled her back, cupped her head, and pressed his cool lips firmly onto hers.

"Mm..." Bai Shuruo suddenly felt the world spinning.

Yet he continued to kiss her recklessly, as if eating a delicious ice cream, the kind he had been starving for for a very long time.

Bai Shuruo was kissed until she could not even catch her breath; she felt she was about to suffocate, so she pushed him hard with her small hands.

She could not push him away; he was like a wall of copper and iron, so she bit down again.

Han Yangting felt the pain and finally let her go.

"Bai Shuruo, you bit me again!" he glared at her.

The feeling of having something delicious interrupted halfway was very unpleasant.

Not until he saw Bai Shuruo leaning against the wall behind her, gasping for air, did he realize he had been too impatient.

"Ruoruo..." he pulled her over, wanting to rub her back, but she slipped away and ran out.

Bai Shuruo returned to the room and dove headfirst into the quilt again.

There was one more embarrassing thing; the relationship between the two was no longer pure.

……

He finished cooking and came over to knock on the door.

Bai Shuruo lingered in bed and would not get up, so he pushed the door open himself.

She buried her head even lower.

She only felt the bed sink in a little as he sat down beside her, then he placed a hand on her back and said, "Bai Shuruo, are you an ostrich?"

Only then did Bai Shuruo reveal a bit of her face and look at him, appearing like a primary school student who had done something wrong.

He couldn't help but pull her up.

Bai Shuruo struggled, but ended up falling right into his arms.

He stopped caring and simply pulled her over, making her sit on his lap.

Now, she didn't dare move at all; if she moved again, she was afraid of bumping into things that shouldn't be touched.

Yet with him holding her, her heart beat rapidly, thump-thump, as if it were about to jump out.

"Ruoruo, what do you think I should do with you?" he asked, simultaneously turning her face so she had to look him in the eye.

She didn't dare look at him at all; sitting on his lap like this was incredibly shameful.

"Are you still questioning my purpose in marrying you?" he asked.

Bai Shuruo shook her head, then nodded.

"You suspect that I don't actually want to marry you?" he asked again.

She nodded honestly again.

The two were so close that their breath mingled as they spoke, and she felt like her brain was about to be deprived of oxygen.

Was her altitude sickness not yet cured? Should she go back to the hospital to get some more oxygen?

Han Yangting lifted her chin, forcing her to look at him.

She had no choice but to gaze at him.

"Ruoruo, do you think I treat you well?"

"Mm." She nodded.

"Then do you think I treat others this well?" he asked again.

Bai Shuruo shook her head, indicating she didn't know.

He was also quite good to Ling Feng and Ni Xianglei, he just didn't cook for them every day.

"I was very angry that you previously suspected I was gay," he added.

"I'm sorry, Brother Han." She admitted her mistake.

He must have been angry, otherwise he wouldn't have failed to contact her for the 20-plus days she was away on a business trip.

"Having said that, I was also at fault; perhaps I was too indulgent with you before, not letting you fulfill the responsibilities of a wife, and I didn't express my own needs, which led to your misunderstanding."

Bai Shuruo was startled.

Does that mean he is going to express his needs from now on?
