Chapter 69: Until I Am Satisfied
The midnight bell was about to toll; Ling Wu left Guishan Cemetery, and the rain that had paused began to fall again in a cycle. Rainwater drifted in from the edge of the umbrella, splashing recklessly onto Ling Wu's pale face.
Even the midsummer sky had begun to turn cold.
"Whoosh!"
At the entrance of the villa stood a dense crowd of bodyguards in black.
Jin Shaoyu stood in the center, his crisp black suit seemingly blending into the night. His handsome face was filled with rage, his eyes as dark as lacquer, staring at the end of the road. His lips were pressed into a straight line; he had clearly reached his breaking point.
Ling Wu saw him through the rain curtain and the night, freezing for a moment.
Then, he quickly tilted the umbrella down and wiped his face messily with the back of his hand.
After doing this, Ling Wu walked toward the villa entrance. In the span of just a few dozen steps, he had already packed away all his negative emotions, his exterior returning to a cold and steady state. His back, as he held the umbrella, looked like ancient jade eroded by wind and rain, possessing an indescribable beauty and sorrow...
Seeing him appear, Jin Shaoyu immediately charged into the rain curtain.
With hurried footsteps, Ling Wu saw a pair of long legs stride over from the ground half-hidden by the umbrella. Immediately after, the youth snatched the umbrella from his hand. The look he shot over was as fierce as a blood-weeping blade. He grabbed Ling Wu's wrist tightly, his emotions erupting: "Ling Wu! You lied to me, you damn well dared to lie to me again!"
"Do I really have to break your legs so you won't run around, or cut out your tongue so you won't lie to people!"
The villa door opened, and he shoved Ling Wu inside.
"Bang!"
The door closed, separating the world into two. Outside, thunder and lightning raged; inside, grief and indignation were intertwined.
Jin Shaoyu interrogated him: "Where did you go? Tell me the truth! You promised you would come, but you didn't answer my calls or reply to my texts. Do you have any idea how long I waited for you at Guishan Cemetery!"
Inside the room, there was first a burst of rage.
Jin Shaoyu raised his white-knuckled fist. Ling Wu stood at the door watching him, watching the youth's fist whistle through the air as it smashed fiercely toward him, grazing his neck and finally landing on the door.
The two brothers: one struck with ruthless force, without any restraint.
The other remained calm in the face of change, not even blinking an eye.
Seeing him not dodge, Jin Shaoyu's anger flared up: "Why didn't you dodge? Ling Wu, you're so fearless—do you really think I don't dare to touch you?!"
Under the light, Ling Wu's porcelain-white face appeared even paler. His eyes were red as if he had been crying, half of his shoulder was soaked through, and a few strands of hair were messily plastered to his skin. He looked incredibly frail.
Even his pant legs and shoes were wet.
Jin Shaoyu's pupils flickered.
He seemed to realize something.
The next moment, he heard Ling Wu say: "I saw that you bought the lisianthus that Mom liked most when she was alive. It's very beautiful. I also gave Mom a gift."
Jin Shaoyu gradually calmed down: "Since you went to the cemetery, why didn't you reply to my messages or answer my calls?"
"What exactly were you doing out with Yu Shixue?!"
"What is there for you two to talk about!"
As he spoke, his volume rose.
Damn it.
What was there to talk about?
Was Yu Shixue good at talking?
Was he good at pulling stunts?
Was he good at making people happy?
Jin Shaoyu glanced at his complexion, feeling that something was off in his heart. He pushed him onto the sofa, sat down himself in a lazy, casual manner, crossed his legs, looked at Ling Wu beside him, and held his hand out in front of him, hooking his index and middle fingers: "Give me your phone."
The tone allowed for no refusal.
Ling Wu honestly gave him the phone: "What for?"
Jin Shaoyu snorted coldly: "None of your business."
He took the phone, lifted his chin slightly, and said righteously: "What's the password?"
Ling Wu: "546498."
Jin Shaoyu opened his phone and entered Ling Wu's contact list in such an open and aboveboard manner. He scanned it roughly: there were Jin Liangjin, Yu Shixue, Qi Yu, Yu Tingyun... all together, they didn't even add up to ten people.
With a wave of his hand, he pinned his own contact as a favorite and set it to "special concern" on Ling Wu's phone.
Jin Shaoyu kept a straight face: "From now on, you must reply to my messages in seconds, understand?"
Ling Wu hesitated for two seconds, then nodded: "Mm."
Jin Shaoyu wouldn't give up: "Say you understand."
Ling Wu: "I understand."
Jin Shaoyu continued to check the phone. He clicked on the chat history with Yu Shixue and found nothing. He clicked on the one with Yu Tingyun and realized the other party had been muted by Ling Wu. The messages with Qi Yu were still on a very beautiful group photo.
In the photo, the background was Maple Forest Avenue.
Ling Wu occupied the main frame, his skin fair and his features exquisite and beautiful, while Qi Yu was a few steps behind him, his gaze fixed on Ling Wu, with the passersby around them blurred out.
It was... not bad.
Of course, Qi Yu was ugly!
Jin Shaoyu tilted his head to look at Ling Wu beside him, speaking vaguely: "Taking group photos, huh? Do you think you have a good relationship? And that younger brother of Yu Shixue's, he's even less of a pushover!"
"I don't know how you added them as friends, but do you think they are good people?"
"Stay away from them!"
Ling Wu went along with him: "Mm, I'll listen to you."
Jin Shaoyu raised his chin, feeling that this was about right. He then found the message he had ordered the bodyguards to send to Ling Wu and held the screen up to his face: "Take it, read it out to me three times."
People who don't reply to messages should be severely punished!
Ling Wu looked at Jin Shaoyu's serious expression and thought it was so childish, not having changed a bit since they were little. He shook his head and sighed inwardly, but still took the phone.
"I..."
Ling Wu read from the screen, and only after he had truly read it three times did Jin Shaoyu let him off.
Afterwards, he said, "Call me."
Ling Wu seemed to understand perfectly: "How many times?"
Jin Shaoyu leaned back against the sofa in a languid posture, his long legs stretched out; he raised his eyes to look at Ling Wu with interest, tilting his head quite deliberately, his expression a bit roguish and a bit provocative: "Call until I'm satisfied."
"Okay."
Ling Wu looked at the string of numbers on the phone that had turned red due to unanswered calls and tapped to call back; the ringtone soon echoed through the empty villa.
"Beep—"
Jin Shaoyu waited a long time before taking out his own phone, hung up right in front of Ling Wu, and curled his lips: "Continue."
Ling Wu tapped with his fingertip.
"Beep—"
Jin Shaoyu hung up again, lifted his eyelids slightly to gaze at him, his eyebrows and eyes full of amusement: "Again!"
The phone ringtone cycled back and forth inside the villa; after who knows how many times, Jin Shaoyu finally seemed satisfied. He stood up slowly, half a head taller than Ling Wu, and as he slowly rubbed his fingertip over the phone screen, he blurted out something that sounded like both advice and a warning: "Will you dare not to answer my calls in the future?"
【What a poser!】
【I'm certain Jin Shaoyu is enjoying this from that expression; I've finally figured it out, once the second male lead softens up, he has absolutely no way to deal with his brother.】
【Not Brother Jin, I saw you looking so aggressive like you were going to eat someone, I thought you were going to hit the second male lead, but you ended up punching the door instead, why are you so pathetic?】
【How pitiful, standing obediently at Guishan Cemetery braving the wind and rain for so long, while his brother wouldn't answer calls or reply to messages, and even went out with Yu Shixue; you must be furious, right?】
【You call this a punishment?】
Then, the comment section was flooded with the words "brother-con."
