Chapter 132: Hum Hum
Back home, Hehe had probably already smelled the unfamiliar scent of its own kind, wagging its tail and sticking close to Zhou Yinhe, who was holding the pet carrier.
Zhou Yinhe lowered his head and looked at it several times; seeing that it was merely curious and had no intention of losing its temper, he then set the pet carrier down.
Before coming back, they had taken the cat for a checkup; probably because of its high price and good appearance, the already high-end pet store's boss paid extra attention to it, and it had no physical problems at all.
Hehe squatted in front of the cage, sniffed, meowed a few times, and Wen Ling then tried to hold Hehe and open the cage.
"This is your little brother, okay? Tomorrow Mom and Dad won't be home, so you can't bully your little brother."
Mainly because Hehe is too big in size, Wen Ling really does have some worries.
Fortunately, Hehe has a good temperament, and it quickly became familiar with the little kitten, so Wen Ling began trying to give it a name.
"What should we call it? Haha or Hehe? Or maybe Hum Hum?"
Zhou Yinhe sat to the side, sending a message to Ning Qing; hearing Wen Ling say that, he let out a puff of laughter.
"Do we really have to name it after Hehe? That feels stupid."
Wen Ling casually smacked him, fierce: "How are you talking? We definitely have to name it after Hehe."
Zhou Yinhe gestured surrender, and Wen Ling then tried calling out a few times to the little kitten squatting beside Hehe's feet.
"Haha?"
"Hehe?"
"Hum Hum?"
"Meow~"
Wen Ling's eyes widened in delight, and she repeated: "Hum Hum?"
"Meow~"
"Okay, then let's call it Hum Hum." Wen Ling bent over, lifted it up, examined it closely, and said, "It really looks especially like Hehe."
Zhou Yinhe casually remarked, "Maybe they share the same parents."
"That makes sense."
Zhou Yinhe put down his phone and said, "I've told my mom: tomorrow we won't rush to leave early; whenever we wake up and get ready, we'll take them to Feng Qi Yuan."
Wen Ling nodded, then spent some time playing with Hehe and some with Hum Hum, completely ignoring Zhou Yinhe.
Zhou Yinhe had no choice but to step forward, rub against her, lean against Wen Ling's side, and lazily gaze at her.
The next morning, Wen Ling and Zhou Yinhe together took the two cats to Feng Qi Yuan.
Hehe often rides with them in the car, lying down as usual once inside; Hum Hum, however, was a bit curious, but under Hehe's intimidating presence it still lay obediently on top of Hehe.
Ning Qing instructed the servants to clean all the cats' belongings thoroughly and place them in a corner of the living room, so they wouldn't be in the way and the cats could still find them.
Zhou Shuanglin crossed her arms, wore a cold expression, and looked at her, saying, "Why must we have two more cats in the house?"
"They are Xiao Wu and Ah Ling's sons, so naturally they are our precious grandsons." Ning Qing's reasoning was very sound.
""……"" Zhou Shuanglin let out two 'hehe' laughs, turned to leave, but just as she stepped out, Ning Qing said, "Yes, the big one is called Hehe—I didn't expect you to remember it so clearly."
Zhou Shuanglin: "?"
Just as he was about to speak, Wen Ling and Zhou Yinhe each came in holding one of the cats.
Ning Qing stepped forward with starry eyes, took Hehe from Wen Ling's arms, and exclaimed, "It's so heavy."
Wen Ling felt a bit embarrassed; Hehe's weight had indeed been rising steadily, and the cause was Zhou Yinhe, who had been giving Hehe snacks and extra meals two to three times more than before.
Zhou Yinhe made an approving sound, then placed Hum Hum into Ning Qing's arms as well.
Fortunately, Hum Hum is still small, so it's not that heavy, and Ning Qing found it not too much of a strain to hold.
"How long are you planning to be away?"
Wen Ling said, "We're not sure either."
"Going out to play is nice; you can go without worry, just leave the two with me." Ning Qing bent over, placed the two cats beside the food bowl, saw they weren't that scared, and felt very happy inside.
"They're so bold; I thought they'd need a few days to adjust."
Wen Ling stood beside her by the cats and chuckled, "Hehe has met more people since childhood, and Hum Hum was already in the pet store, seeing many people every day, so its courage has grown a bit."
Zhou Shuanglin silently watched for a while, glared at her son, then got up and went upstairs.
Zhou Yinhe showed no reaction at all, but Wen Ling, feeling a bit worried, asked, "Uncle, are you angry?"
"Never mind him, he's always like that." Ning Qing gave a soft hum, took Wen Ling's hand, and walked over to sit on the sofa.
"How about you finish lunch at home before leaving? That way I can tell you the precautions for raising them."
Zhou Yinhe was about to refuse, but Wen Ling said, "Sure, we'll eat lunch first and then leave; we're driving ourselves, so we're not in a hurry."
Ning Qing looked at him; Zhou Yinhe pressed his lips and replied, "Alright then."
"No conscience." Ning Qing muttered, rolled her eyes, and continued chatting with Wen Ling.
At noon, the chef prepared Wen Ling's favorite dishes; as soon as Zhou Yinhe sat at the table, he naturally took on the responsibility of looking after her meal.
Zhou Shuanglin hesitated about whether to scold her son in front of her future daughter-in-law, but after thinking it over she spoke up.
"I have no objection to you going out to play, but have you settled your company affairs?"
Zhou Yinhe gave a faint hum and said, "It's all settled."
He raised his eyes, asking in a joking tone, "What's up, Dad? Are you preparing to help me manage the company?"
Zhou Shuanglin had just rested for a few days; the previous two days her eldest and second sons were absent, and both conglomerates were under his management. Although his eldest daughter helped, he, a person long retired, suddenly had to shoulder such a huge responsibility, which indeed made him quite tired.
"Nice dream." Zhou Shuanglin furrowed her brows.
Ning Qing, however, said, "Sure, let your dad go; that way he won't be idle at home looking for trouble."
Zhou Shuanglin glared at her, but Ning Qing pretended not to notice.
Zhou Yinhe didn't know whether Ning Qing was joking or serious, but he took it as truth, and on the spot called his assistant to tell them to welcome his elderly father to the company for work tomorrow.
After hanging up, Zhou Yinhe glanced lightly at Zhou Shuanglin and chuckled, "I'll pay you a salary."
"Do I lack that little bit of your money?" Zhou Shuanglin laughed, exasperated by the mother and son.
Zhou Yinhe said leisurely, "Even if it's not lacking, you still have to give it to you; otherwise it's terribly unscrupulous."
Zhou Shuanglin took a deep breath to steady himself, afraid that he would lose his temper in front of his future daughter-in-law and leave her with a bad impression.
Wen Ling lifted Zhou Yinhe's foot a little, threw him a seductive glance, to make him less annoying.
Zhou Yinhe secretly grabbed Wen Ling's hand and gave it a squeeze, telling her not to worry about those things.
Wen Ling sighed, withdrew her hand, and said to Zhou Shuanglin, "Uncle, don't argue with him; he's just teasing you. How could they have you manage his company? His company's affairs are already settled."
Who said that? I am ——
Halfway through her sentence, Wen Ling lifted her foot and stomped hard on Zhou Yinhe, gritting her teeth: "Say another word and I'll get angry."
Zhou Yinhe, caught off guard by the step, yelped and had to retract his words.
Zhou Shuanglin glanced at Zhou Yinhe, then at Wen Ling, and said relievedly, "If only Xiao Wu were half as sensible as you, I would treat him better."
