Chapter 142: I Still Like Being a Father to People
Wen Ling looked at him seriously, discovering that he really seemed not to be lying.
"All right." Her temper comes fast and goes fast; since Zhou Yinhe hadn't lied to her, she wasn't that angry anymore.
Zhou Yinhe sighed in relief, got up and sat beside her, feeling very pleased.
"The butler will bring the ingredients over later; do you still want anything to eat? I've already ordered it to be delivered, or if you want a certain cuisine today, I'll have the chef come to our house to cook for you."
Wen Ling bit her fork, thought seriously, confirmed she didn't particularly want any cuisine, shook her head, "I'm fine with anything; you ask them what they want to eat."
"All right." Zhou Yinhe could only send a message in their group.
【Besides barbecue, what else do you want to eat tonight?】
They're all at work; among the few people who have a good relationship with Zhou Yinhe, none is as leisurely as he is.
After the two finished breakfast and leaned together on the sofa stroking the cat, someone finally spoke up in the group.
Jiang Jibai: 【Whatever, mainly just want to play together.】
Zhou Yinhe casually replied with an OK sticker, then tossed his phone aside, stroking the cat while watching Wen Ling play a single-player mini-game on her phone.
Even this kind of game made Wen Ling so angry she couldn't stand it; she gritted her teeth and flung the phone away, complaining: "What a lousy game, wasting my feelings."
Zhou Yinhe pressed his lips to hold back laughter, didn't dare say anything else, picked up his own phone, opened the game he often plays, and handed it to her.
"I often play this; try it out, and if you're interested we can play together."
Wen Ling eyed him suspiciously, took the phone, and tentatively played a round.
"Fun, let's play another round." Wen Ling's eyes lit up, her confidence soared, and she never expected to lose the second round so badly.
She picked up the phone intending to throw it, then realized it was Zhou Yinhe's phone, so she took it back and gave it to him, huffing: "I'm never playing games again."
"Okay, okay, okay, we won't play anymore, don't be angry." Zhou Yinhe stuffed both Hehe and Heng Heng into her arms.
Wen Ling stroked the cat, finally not so angry, took the phone back, and in a fit of pique uninstalled all the games, making Zhou Yinhe unable to hold back his laughter.
The butler brought in several servants from outside, saw the two sitting in the living room, smiled and stepped forward to greet: "Fifth Young Master, Miss Wen."
He was considerate, leading the servants to set up the backyard, having prepared the ingredients and placed them in the fridge, then took the servants away first.
Wen Ling leaned on Zhou Yinhe's shoulder, watching their retreating backs, "Is this butler the same one as before?"
Zhou Yinhe hummed in affirmation.
His butler has been by his side since he came of age, but when he and Wen Ling broke up, the butler wasn't there, so actually the butler isn't very clear about their affairs.
Wen Ling adjusted her posture, swung her calves, thought, and asked: "If I have Chu Yao and Fu Huahua come over, do you think it's okay? Will your friends feel awkward?"
These days, the proud sons of heaven each have their own tempers; Wen Ling doesn't want her friends to come and still have to endure anger.
Zhou Yinhe said: "What's there to feel awkward about? They all know each other, just not very well; rest assured."
Only then did Wen Ling send a message and address to Chu Yao and Fu Huahua; they quickly replied, telling Wen Ling they would come.
"I'm sleepy, let me nap a bit."
Zhou Yinhe was very considerate, picked her up and took her back to the room; Wen Ling had barely fallen asleep when the downstairs doorbell rang, and his phone vibrated a few times.
Fortunately Zhou Yinhe wasn't asleep, leaning against the headboard looking at a tablet; hearing the phone vibrate, he instinctively glanced at Wen Ling first, afraid the vibration would wake her.
Jiang Jibai and the others had already arrived; at that moment they were at the door, wearing sunglasses, shouting about the heat while sending Zhou Yinhe a message.
They came too early; the sun hadn't set yet, it was just the time for evening sunbathing.
Seeing their message, Zhou Yinhe quietly went downstairs and opened the door; just as they were about to speak up complaining about his slowness, he stopped them with a glance.
"Keep it down."
Ke Chengyu glanced upstairs, lowered his voice and asked: "Don't tell me you're still sleeping."
"Mm, I didn't sleep well last night." Zhou Yinhe opened the shoe cabinet at the entryway, letting them get their own shoes and change.
Jiang Jibai pulled out a pair of slippers, put them on, stretched lazily, rudely opened the fridge in the living room, took out several bottles of water and threw them to Ke Chengyu and Qi Zhan, twisted open one and took a sip; lifting his head, he locked eyes with the two cats perched on top of the fridge, watching him warily.
Heng Heng leaned against Hehe's leg; seeing Hehe's posture, it imitated and also glared at Jiang Jibai.
As if looking at an intruder, they seemed about to swipe at him the next second.
Hehe was fine; as an adult cat, its breed and size were there, indeed looking somewhat intimidating, but Heng Heng is still small, looking completely like it's borrowing the tiger's might.
Jiang Jibai puffed out a laugh; Ke Chengyu and Qi Zhan, walking over, also saw this scene.
"So small, yet learning to be this fierce, borrowing the tiger's might, huh." Ke Chengyu stepped forward to tease Heng Heng, not expecting Hehe to be quite protective; it swiped with a paw, and if Ke Chengyu hadn't been quick, he'd surely have a scar.
Zhou Yinhe walked over, picked up both cats, carried them upstairs, opened the bedroom door, took out a wet wipe, wiped each of their paws, then put them back in the room.
Wen Ling still wasn't awake; he didn't want to disturb it, so he turned and walked out of the room.
"How did you raise these two cats to be so fierce?"
Qi Zhan strolled boredly around the villa, then told Zhou Yinhe: "We came over once when you first moved in; after that you never invited us again, we thought you didn't like people entering your turf; never expected Wen Ling to already be living here, her cat even more familiar with this place than we childhood friends."
Zhou Yinhe raised his brows: "Wen Ling is my future wife; Hehe and Heng Heng are my cat sons, so of course they can stay."
Qi Zhan rolled his eyes, but Ke Chengyu was amused by Zhou Yinhe's words.
"You like being a dad to pets that much?"
Zhou Yinhe calmly retorted: "I not only like being a dad to pets, I also like being a dad to people; if you want, I can be your dad too."
Men seem to always like being the other's dad; Jiang Jibai snorted coldly, the three exchanged glances, grabbed Zhou Yinhe and pressed him onto the sofa, giving him a moderate beating.
"Are you crazy?" Zhou Yinhe retorted while fighting back: "Running onto my turf to hit me."
"What's wrong with your turf? On my turf you still bully us." Jiang Jibai hummed a laugh, then punched Zhou Yinhe in the shoulder.
Zhou Yinhe covered his shoulder and hissed, then muttered: "Damn, I twisted it here; you really know how to hit."
The three were startled, all stopped; Zhou Yinhe covered his shoulder, sat up, frowned, and said: "You guys are really crazy."
