Chapter 150: That's a criticism meeting

~7 min read 1,365 words

Wen Ling raised her eyebrows and shook her head.

Ning Qing, however, let out a cold snort from the side, "The Tian family was decent enough a few years ago, but now finding a wife like this is utterly disgraceful."

Zhou Yinhe pulled Wen Ling into his embrace, lowered his head to kiss the top of her hair, then lifted his gaze and asked, "What's going on?"

His tone was unfriendly; each word he spoke sounded like he was spitting ice chips.

Wen Ling reached out and tugged at his waistband, she couldn't be bothered to argue with some foolish people, and besides, it was just a few women who couldn't hold their tongues, not that they'd done anything major.

Ning Qing clearly didn't want to let this matter slide lightly—what does getting kicked out even count as? She hasn't gone to settle accounts with the Tian family yet.

The Zhou family people are all very protective of their own.

Zhou Yinhe let out a deep breath, Wen Ling looked up at him and said softly, "I don't mind, so don't get angry."

"……" Zhou Yinhe remained silent, gazing into Wen Ling's eyes, seeing her eye sockets still red, he pressed his lips against her slightly warm eyelids.

Ning Qing let out a light sigh; there were still many guests at home, she needed to return to keep them company. Before leaving, she told Wen Ling, "Ah Ling, settle in nicely; I won't bring them over to disturb you at noon. Tell Chef what you and Zhiyu want to eat, and we'll all have dinner together tonight."

Wen Ling nodded with a smile, Ning Qing departed, and Zhou Yinhe took Wen Ling's hand to his room.

This was the first time, including the night she later stayed there, that Wen Ling had never entered Zhou Yinhe's room before; this moment was still her first.

Zhou Yinhe's room occupied half of the second floor, complete with a living room, a wardrobe room, and even a game room.

Wen Ling strolled leisurely with her hands behind her back, passing the trophy wall in Zhou Yinhe's study.

Even kindergarten trophies were displayed there, along with various talent and competition awards, filling an entire wall; Wen Ling widened her eyes, stunned.

"You still dance?" Wen Ling reached out, picked up a dance trophy, and looked at the inscription from middle school.

Zhou Yinhe awkwardly tugged at his lips, his eyes darting, and said casually, "I used to, but I've long forgotten."

"Really?" Wen Ling didn't believe him, leaned in and blew into his ear, whispering softly, "Can't you dance a little for me to see?"

Zhou Yinhe felt Wen Ling was being utterly unreasonable—first making him wear a skirt, now asking him to dance those childhood dances that embarrassed him.

This time he truly couldn't; he stepped back one step, coldly refusing, turned his face away, and no matter how aggrieved Wen Ling's expression and actions were, he wouldn't see them.

Wen Ling let out a light hum; this time she didn't force him, put down the trophy, and went to explore another room.

What interested her most was actually the game room, too bad she couldn't play any of the games.

The two had barely been together for a short while when the housekeeper came upstairs to call them.

"Fifth Young Master, Miss Wen, the Eldest Young Master's wife sent me to call you downstairs for lunch."

Wen Ling wasn't particularly hungry, but she was willing to keep Shang Zhiyu company for a meal, so she went downstairs with Zhou Yinhe.

Unexpectedly, Zhou Yanqiu had also returned; at that moment he sat beside Shang Zhiyu, quietly asking whether Shang Zhiyu felt unwell or had any morning sickness.

Upon seeing Zhou Yinhe and Wen Ling, he first greeted Wen Ling with a smile, then mocked Zhou Yinhe.

"Now you know to come home, earlier you couldn't be called back no matter how many times we shouted."

Zhou Yinhe didn't utter a word, followed behind Wen Ling, allowing Zhou Yanqiu's words, inside and out, to bully him.

As for matters between the brothers, Wen Ling didn't want to intervene; she gave Zhou Yinhe a look that said, 'Even if Baobao were obedient, I couldn't help,' then went to sit with Shang Zhiyu to chat.

Seeing Zhou Yinhe's expression gradually displeased, Zhou Yanqiu thought he'd said enough, stood up, and told the housekeeper the dishes could be served.

They walked together to the dining room; Zhou Yinhe walked last, seeing Wen Ling stride ahead without looking back, walking side by side with Shang Zhiyu, he reached out and pulled Wen Ling back.

Wen Ling looked at him puzzledly; Zhou Yinhe said, "My brother just bullied me, why aren't you helping me?"

"He's your own brother, I can't interfere, Baobao." Wen Ling soothed him softly, but in her heart she thought, normally one person fights the whole family, now it's come to needing my girlfriend to back me up.

Yet Zhou Yinhe felt completely justified in this behavior—having his beloved woman protect him felt incredibly comforting.

But these were merely each of their private thoughts, never spoken aloud, yet silently conveyed through their actions.

As Zhou Yinhe's full-blooded brother, Zhou Yanqiu's inner trajectory was actually quite similar, so he completely understood Zhou Yinhe's behavior in front of Wen Ling.

He merely gave his brother face; saying a few words and giving a little trouble was enough.

After the meal, Zhou Yanqiu prepared to return to work; seeing Zhou Yinhe about to go upstairs with Wen Ling, he directly grabbed Zhou Yinhe's arm without allowing refusal.

"How long have you not gone to the company? Now, immediately, come with me."

As a perpetually busy person, what I despise most is Zhou Yinhe clearly having things to attend to, yet dumping them on others while he spends every day playing with his girlfriend.

Zhou Yinhe furrowed his brows, his voice cold: "I won't go; worst case, I merge the company into the group, and you can manage it together then."

Zhou Yanqiu forced a smile: "Say that again and I'll call Dad right now; he'll definitely rush back from out of town, and tonight we'll have to hold a family meeting."

What family meeting! That's a criticism session! Criticize whom? Mainly criticize him!

"You previously promised me a request." Zhou Yinhe was pulled a few steps by him, then suddenly recalled that last time the Shang family came, Zhou Yanqiu said he could grant him one request.

Zhou Yanqiu remained unmoved: "Why don't you go tell our dad, you're preparing to use this request to exchange for your slacking off."

Zhou Yinhe clicked his tongue, while Wen Ling from the side advised, "You and elder brother go together."

"Fine, I'll go, but you come with me." Zhou Yinhe shook off Zhou Yanqiu's hand, about to grab Wen Ling's arm; Wen Ling nimbly stepped back a few paces, inevitably a hint of schadenfreude in her eyes.

"I'm not going, I want to nap." Wen Ling feigned regret, shrugging her shoulders, and told Zhou Yanqiu, "Elder brother, hurry and take him away."

After saying that, she lifted her foot and ran upstairs to the room Ning Qing had prepared for her.

Zhou Yinhe gazed wordlessly at Wen Ling's ruthless retreating figure; Zhou Yanqiu crossed his arms, indifferently said, "Let's go, stop pretending to be gloomy—Ah Ling is already out of sight."

Zhou Yinhe glared at that good-for-nothing elder brother, "I'm changing clothes! You can't possibly let me go in loungewear, can you?"

"……" Zhou Yanqiu helplessly nodded, agreeing, yet afraid Zhou Yinhe would slack off once back in his room, he trailed him step by step.

While changing clothes, he stood at the doorway of the wardrobe room, leaning against the wall, listlessly staring at Zhou Yinhe.

"Isn't it enough that you're guarding me while I change clothes?" Zhou Yinhe thought his elder brother really had a problem.

Zhou Yanqiu, however, declared righteously, "So what? I wasn't shy about seeing you when you were little."

Zhou Yinhe was amused by his anger, then listened to Zhou Yanqiu say something even more infuriating in a light tone.
