Chapter 163

~7 min read 1,347 words

Again scaring Grandpa Wen.

Wen Ling hummed, righteously admitting: "I'm not scaring him; he definitely wouldn't agree. Although they all agreed to help watch over Grandpa, if Grandpa really wanted to eat those, they couldn't stop him."

Zhou Yinhe raised his hand and flicked her forehead, smiling: "Grandpa Wen surely noticed too, but he can't argue with you."

"It's fine if he noticed; as long as it works."

Wen Ling lifted her eyes and gave him a bright smile.

Zhou Yinhe lowered his head and left a soft kiss on the corner of her lips.

After Wen Ling finished her makeup and came downstairs, the doctor had already arrived, examining Wen Lao; seeing Wen Ling come, he smiled.

"Miss, the old gentleman's health has improved a lot; as long as you pay attention to dietary restrictions from now on."

Wen Ling acknowledged with an "okay," the doctor packed up his things and took his leave.

Wen Lao sighed; Qin Lao beside him chuckled, "Look at you, not taking care of your health and making the kids worry—you really have no shame."

"" Wen Lao felt guilty; if Wen Ling weren't by his side, he would surely retort, but with Wen Ling staring at him like this, he didn't dare say anything, only glaring at Qin Lao who was watching the show.

Qin Lao didn't argue with him, stood up with his hands behind his back and said, "Let's go, since this old fellow is fine."

"Let Wen Zhuo come along; he can also help you two take care of us."

Wen Zhuo smiled gently on the side, and Wen Ling said, "Wen Zhuo has something to do."

Zhou Yinhe lifted his gaze toward Wen Zhuo; a flicker of loss passed through Wen Zhuo's eyes, so brief that only Zhou Yinhe noticed. He withdrew his gaze and gave a low chuckle, saying to Wen Lao who had made the suggestion: "Grandpa, we can take good care of you; Wen Zhuo is busy."

Wen Lao didn't think much of it; seeing them say that, he let it go.

The two old men bickered; whenever they ate something delicious that Wen Lao couldn't have, Qin Lao would childishly show off, resulting in the two old men ignoring each other when they got home.

After sending the somewhat tired Wen Lao back to his room, Wen Ling said to Qin Lao, "Grandpa Qin, please don't anger my grandfather."

Upon hearing this, Qin Lao widened his eyes in disbelief, "You're playing favorites?!"

"I wouldn't dare." Wen Ling shook her head, sat beside Qin Lao and coaxed him.

Qin Lao gave a light hum, finally letting the matter drop, and leisurely returned to his room.

Wen Ling leaned against the sofa, completely out of energy.

Zhou Yinhe had just returned from a phone call; he had prepared a house for Wen Lao near their residence, so Wen Lao could choose to stay there or with Wen Ling.

Seeing him, Wen Ling raised her arm, pursed her lips, and said, "I'm so tired, carry me back to the room."

Zhou Yinhe chuckled lightly, bent over and lifted her; Wen Ling wrapped her arms around his neck and complained, "Taking care of an old child is even more exhausting than a real child."

"You've taken care of a child?"

"Of course." Wen Ling hummed with a laugh, proudly saying, "I have a sister from an old family friend who had a baby early; when I went to visit her to play, I even helped her look after the child for half a day."

"Wow, that's great." Zhou Yinhe curled his lips, feigning surprise to cheer her up.

Wen Ling indeed giggled, burying her face in his collarbone, her warm, moist breath spraying all over him; Zhou Yinhe's arms around her trembled, his voice hoarse as he warned, "Keep provoking me and I won't be polite."

Wen Ling didn't care; she opened her mouth and bit down, using some force, hearing Zhou Yinhe hiss before she finally pulled back satisfied.

"Just provoking you."

Zhou Yinhe tightened his arms, silent; Wen Ling looked at his eyes doubtfully, seeing a faint sinking in his gaze, her heart fluttered.

He sometimes had a nasty sense of humor; Wen Ling couldn't withstand it either, she hesitated a moment, then whispered, "I was wrong."

"No, you're not wrong."

"" Upon hearing that, Wen Ling knew the matter wouldn't be dropped; she bit her lip and added, "I really know I was wrong; you're magnanimous, don't hold it against me."

"How could I hold it against you, Baobao." Zhou Yinhe lowered his gaze, his eyes holding a smile, though his smile was a bit sinister; Wen Ling trembled, clung to him, acting cute: "Don't smile like that, I'm scared."

After the words fell, they had already entered the room; Zhou Yinhe lifted his foot to gently close the door, then freed a hand to lock the room door.

Wen Ling trembled even more.

Placed beside the bed, Wen Ling hurriedly crawled inward, keeping distance from him, and warned, "I, my auntie hasn't left yet, you—"

Zhou Yinhe leisurely pulled off his shirt, blinked, and asked puzzledly, "What does that have to do with whether your auntie has left?"

"I, I can't use my hands either; my wrist is still a bit sore."

"She's lying; her wrist had already healed."

Zhou Yinhe slowly nodded, bent over to take her hand; Wen Ling jerked her hand behind her back, aggrieved: "Don't be so petty; I really know I was wrong, I shouldn't have deliberately provoked you."

"What's wrong with me?" Zhou Yinhe tilted his head, explaining, "You said your wrist was still sore; I just wanted to rub it for you."

"No need!" Wen Ling shook her head vigorously.

Zhou Yinhe had no choice but to straighten up, regretfully saying, "Fine, then I'll go take a shower."

Wen Ling breathed a sigh of relief, but hearing Zhou Yinhe, who had already reached the bathroom door, turn back and softly say, "Wait for me, Baobao."

""

Seeing Zhou Yinhe walk into the bathroom, he suddenly laughed out loud before the door was even closed; Wen Ling finally realized and snapped, "You bastard, you're scaring me again on purpose!"

Zhou Yinhe inside the bathroom merely curled his lips; was he trying to scare her? No, he was serious—he had just wanted Wen Ling to relax a bit, deliberately so.

After he finished his shower and came out, he indeed saw Wen Ling swinging her legs, lying relaxed on the bed looking at her phone, looking quite pleased.

Zhou Yinhe didn't give any prior warning; while drying his hair, he asked, "Go take a shower."

Wen Ling yelped, sat up, and while still watching the unfinished funny clip, she walked toward the bathroom.

Zhou Yinhe sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, watching her back; when Wen Ling, engrossed in the video, nearly bumped into the wall, he couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle.

He thought helplessly: Usually she looks so smart and pretty, Baobao, but occasionally she acts like a ditzy little kid.

By the time Wen Ling came out, he was already leaning against the headboard, waiting like a hunter awaiting prey.

All that was missing was for the rabbit to hop right to his door.

Wen Ling, this rabbit, had no idea; she happily threw back the covers, crawled into bed, moved toward Zhou Yinhe, leaned against him to look at her phone, and even shared it with him.

"Baobao, look, this is so interesting."

Zhou Yinhe's eyes were dark as ink; he gave a deep hum, lowered his head to look at the phone screen Wen Ling handed over, his hand clasped around her shoulder incessantly stroking her cool skin.

Wen Ling didn't notice, still laughing, her laughter clear and pleasant, while Zhou Yinhe's eyes grew ever darker.

He directly took out his phone and tossed it onto the bedside table, lowered his head to look at Wen Ling, whose face was full of shock, his laughter low and muffled.
