Chapter 207

~6 min read 1,074 words

"What's the difference?" Lu Zhaoye laughed and retorted, "Aren't they all just longing for someone they can't have?"

Wen Zhuo didn't want to argue about these with him, turned and walked toward the hotel.

After the proposal ended, most of the people present had work to do; after staying one night, they all flew back to Sijiucheng. Qin Lao and Wen Lao had also stayed long enough here, and they left together, leaving the leisurely Ning Qing behind, and incidentally also leaving Shang Zhiyu behind. They played for a week, then all returned home.

Wen Ling returned to Chen Yue Fu, and the first thing she did was go hug Hehe and Heng Heng.

"Ah, do you miss Mommy?"

Being hugged by her, Hehe and Heng Heng made gurgling sounds and kept rubbing their heads against her. Zhou Yinghe stood to the side holding a coffee, leisurely watching their "deep mother-son affection".

He lowered his gaze, thought for a moment, then proactively asked: "When do you want to get engaged?"

Wen Ling hummed doubtfully, then said: "No rush, I guess."

Zhou Yinghe put the cup on the table, walked to Wen Ling's side, took Hehe and Heng Heng from her arms, and immediately embraced Wen Ling.

He coquettishly said: "How about we do the engagement first? Marriage can wait."

"Why?" Wen Ling blinked, then reached out and pinched Zhou Yinghe's cheek. Hearing his speech become slightly muffled from her movement, she couldn't help but laugh.

"I want everyone besides those close to us to know we're engaged, so we won't be apart anymore." Zhou Yinghe tightened his arms, holding Wen Ling tightly in his embrace, and asked, "Okay?"

Wen Ling narrowed her eyes, feigning hesitation. Seeing that, Zhou Yinghe lost patience, directly shook her waist hard, making her vision blur.

"Okay, okay, okay!" Wen Ling patted his front, signaling him to stop quickly.

Having obtained the promise, Zhou Yinghe finally let her go, kissed the corner of her lips, then turned and jogged upstairs.

No need to think; it's either not to show off, but to inform the Zhou family.

Wen Ling watched his back, and didn't have a particularly strong reaction, probably because her parents and friends around her were happily married, making her not opposed to marriage.

But it also has to do with the marriage partner, I suppose. Wen Ling lay on the sofa, staring upstairs for a while, then finally couldn't resist her itching heart and got up to go upstairs.

At that moment, Zhou Yinghe was in the study, sitting at the computer, busy as could be.

Wen Ling poked her head in for a glance, then went back to her room to shower, changed into pajamas, barefoot on the carpet, and slowly walked into the study.

The villa was always temperature-controlled, the air warm, so even wearing little didn't make her cold.

Zhou Yinghe heard her approaching, looked up at Wen Ling; in that glance, his pupils contracted sharply, and his Adam's apple moved a few times.

"You..."

Wen Ling had already walked to his side, placed her arm on his shoulder, bent down to kiss his lips, then sat on his lap, her breathing shallow, the warm moisture she exhaled reddening Zhou Yinghe's neck.

"What are you busy with?"

Zhou Yinghe was so shy for the first time that his speech stumbled.

"I, I told him, them about that, that is, the engagement scene..." Zhou Yinghe hadn't finished speaking when a slender finger pressed against his lips; the woman in his arms shifted her body, making all his muscles tense.

Wen Ling spread her hands in front of him, eyes wide: "When did your abs get——"

Zhou Yinghe, pleading, buried his face in her shoulder and neck, his nose full of her scent.

"Don't say it, please."

Wen Ling couldn't help laughing, her body trembling with laughter.

Her deliberate provocation resulted in the situation lasting from noon until evening.

They slept through until midnight, got up to eat a bit, then returned to the room to continue sleeping until the next morning.

Wen Ling yawned as she went downstairs, and upon seeing the people in the living room, her eyes widened in surprise.

"Aunt Zhou!!!"

Aunt Zhou turned, hurried forward to catch Wen Ling as she lunged, and sighed, "I've missed you so much."

"Aunt Zhou, how did you come back?"

"There's no point going back; I stayed with the mistress for a few days, really missed you so I came back. I was originally supposed to return to Lang Po Wan, but just after I got off the plane, the Fifth Young Master called me, arranged a driver to pick me up, and brought me here."

She smiled, lifted a hand to tidy Wen Ling's hair, examined her cheek, and delightedly said, "You've gotten a bit plumper, looking much better than before."

Zhou Yinghe came downstairs from upstairs, just happened to hear that, gave Wen Ling a meaningful look, and was glared back at fiercely by Wen Ling.

His gaze was rather impure, and Wen Ling couldn't make sense of it.

Aunt Zhou ignored the ambiguous atmosphere between the two, stood up, and said, "I'll go make you breakfast."

Wen Ling responded, followed Aunt Zhou into the kitchen, and as she passed Zhou Yinghe she lifted her leg and kicked him; but because lifting her leg strained a tendon, it hurt so much she grimaced, afraid Aunt Zhou would see, so she just endured it silently.

Zhou Yinghe stood behind her, clearly seeing her reaction, lowered his head trying not to laugh, and then received an angry glare from Wen Ling.

In the kitchen, Aunt Zhou cooked noodles while glancing at Wen Ling, gently asking, "I heard the Fifth Young Master proposed to you."

Wen Ling pursed her lips and nodded slightly, a bit shy.

"The mistress sent me the video of the proposal scene; even as an outsider I felt somewhat moved." She curled her lips, a little regretful: "If it weren't for those two days I couldn't get away, I would have definitely come with the master and mistress."

Wen Ling stepped forward, linked her arm with Aunt Zhou's, and softly said, "It's fine; there will still be the engagement and wedding, and you'll have to be there then."

Aunt Zhou is different from the others; she is both her steward and, since childhood, a person who has accompanied her growth like a mother.
