Chapter 66: As long as the little dog listens, she can

"You don't want to know why I went to save you?" Wen Ling raised her chin, gesturing for Chu Yao to look at that USB drive.

"What is this?" Chu Yao hadn't reacted yet, so Wen Ling had to be more direct: "It's a recording; inside is evidence that Ruan MiaoMiao mentioned wanting to scheme against you. Does that make it clear now?"

Chu Yao widened her eyes, not expecting her to be so direct. Wen Ling chuckled lightly: "I knew she was plotting against you, but I didn't tell you, waiting until it happened to rescue you mainly because I thought it unnecessary; we aren't close, and you wouldn't have believed me anyway."

"Huh? Then why are you telling me now?" Chu Yao, still a bit dazed but understanding Wen Ling's words, clapped her hands and blinked her starry eyes, excited: "Because you want to be good friends with me, and you don't want secrets between us, right?"

"……" Wen Ling lightly furrowed her brows, not understanding where she got that conclusion, but she still nodded.

The bartender lowered his head, couldn't help laughing out loud, then after being glared at by Wen Ling, hurriedly turned and left.

Chu Yao put the USB drive into her bag, sighed, then said listlessly: "Actually my brother knows it's Ruan MiaoMiao, but I'm afraid if he goes to settle scores with her it'll cause unpleasantness with the Qin Family; after all, she's an outsider daughter of the Qin Family, and Qin Lao still likes her quite a bit."

Wen Ling curled her lips and gave a light laugh: "Still quite sensible."

"Are you praising me?" Chu Yao lifted her eyes to look at her, hehe laughed: "I also think so; people used to say I had princess syndrome, and I know I do have a bit of it, but my brother is exhausted these days, and I don't want to make him even more tired because of me."

Fu Huahua raised her paw and ruthlessly kneaded Chu Yao's carefully styled hair, then said gratified: "Our Miss Chu has become sensible now."

Chu Yao, angry, went to hit her; the two tussled together, while Wen Ling maintained a light smile watching them, drinking half the cup of liquor.

The three chatted idly here for an afternoon; Wen Ling's phone stayed in her bag, not taken out, until Chu Yao suggested they have dinner together, at which point Wen Ling remembered Zhou Yinhe.

She took out her phone and glanced at it, only then discovering a message Zhou Yinhe had sent an hour earlier.

【Lingling, I'm waiting for you in the parking lot.】

She raised her eyebrows, didn't reply to the message, refused Chu Yao and Fu Huahua's invitation, walked to the bar counter and told the bartender: "Just put it on my tab."

She turned back, waved at the two of them, and left first.

Zhou Yinhe leaned against the car seat, lowering his eyes to play with the plain ring he'd been carrying recently; his thin lips were pressed together, his dark eyes deep and tranquil.

Wen Ling directly opened the passenger door, fastening her seatbelt while calmly saying: "I didn't check my phone, so I didn't know you'd sent me a message—I said as much, didn't I? When I leave, I'll have you come pick me up; why are you here so early?"

"I had nothing to do this afternoon." Zhou Yinhe's voice was very soft; he didn't look at her, merely his long lashes trembled.

Wen Ling suddenly bent over and leaned in, scrutinizing him carefully, then smiled: "You're angry, huh?"

Zhou Yinhe shook his head; he wasn't angry, just feeling off.

Wen Ling reached out and pinched his chin, feigning dissatisfaction: "You've stayed at my place for a few days; shouldn't you go back to your own home?"

"Are you trying to get rid of me?" Zhou Yinhe frowned at her, a flicker of hurt flashing in his eyes, but it met her smiling gaze.

She was serious, but also harbored a teasing thought; Zhou Yinhe inexplicably had some excessive ideas pop into his mind, yet feared that if he actually did them he'd hurt Wen Ling.

He undid his seatbelt, leaned toward her, cupping Wen Ling's fair, tender little face, and hoarsely said: "I can go back to my own home, but you have to give me some sweetness."

Wen Ling grabbed his collar, coquettishly complaining: "Isn't it inappropriate here?"

Zhou Yinhe silently released her, reached to fasten his seatbelt, and the car drove off; Wen Ling smiled, adjusting her posture, not asking where they were going—after all, he wouldn't bear to sell her out.

The car wound along the twisting mountain road; below lay an endless sea. Wen Ling tousled her hair a bit, lowered the window, squinted her eyes, and breathed in the sea breeze.

Zhou Yinhe didn't speak the whole way, his irritated feeling bottled up inside, on the verge of exploding; the sports car passed layer after layer of checkpoints and finally reached the mountaintop. Zhou Yinhe stopped the car and asked softly: "Here, is it okay?"

Wen Ling glanced around; there was no one in sight, yet a scenic overlook had been built. The overlook had half of its surface suspended in midair; its transparent glass curtain walls could be clearly seen from inside the car, and even Wen Ling, who isn't afraid of heights, felt a little uneasy looking at it.

She swept her hair behind her, just unbuckling her seatbelt to get out and have a look, when Zhou Yinhe grabbed her arm and yanked her into his embrace.

"I want to go down and look." Wen Ling didn't struggle, lightly hugging his neck.

Zhou Yinhe lowered his head to bite her lips and neck, leaving one tooth mark after another; Wen Ling endured the pain, leaning against his chest, eyes slightly narrowed but her mind clear.

Raising a dog, getting bitten a few times is normal; as long as the little dog obeys, she can let it bite her.

"How about we wait a bit before looking? Let's stay in the car for now." Saying that, his fingers began to wander.

Wen Ling clung to him, her arms tightly wrapped around him, cooperating with his restless fingers, only whispering: "This skirt was a gift from someone else; don't wrinkle or dirty it."

Zhou Yinhe gave a low hum; upon realizing she was just as aroused as he, he stopped holding himself back.

On the mountaintop, inside the car, although there was no one else, there was an inexplicable sense of impropriety.

Zhou Yinhe obediently restrained his destructive urge, carefully avoiding the skirt; hearing Wen Ling lift her chin and let out a coquettish moan, he pressed his arm down hard on her.

Wen Ling was about to faint; only then did Zhou Yinhe release her, thoughtfully tidying her up and straightening her skirt.

He half-led, half-supported the somewhat limp Wen Ling as they walked slowly toward the scenic overlook; the setting sun shone on the glass curtain wall, reflecting a dusky golden brilliance. Wen Ling feared it would hurt her eyes, so she raised a hand to shield her view; upon entering the overlook, she discovered that the half of the mountaintop structure actually contained two rooms and a piano.

Wen Ling could barely conceal her shock, murmuring: "Why did you build a scenic overlook here?"

"This mountain was originally intended for developing hillside villas, but after a master calculated it, he said the mountain wasn't suitable for too much human activity, so it was left empty." He first explained why the mountain had no one.

"Before my grandfather passed away, he transferred the mountain's ownership to my name; idle as it was, I had people design it into a scenic overlook." He lowered his gaze to Wen Ling's cheek, still faintly flushed from their earlier intensity, and whispered: "It was first completed three years ago; back then we weren't sure of its safety, so I didn't bring you here. Later, after having people test it and confirming it was safe, you had already left."
