Chapter 93: You weren't clingy as a child, but now you're clinging to your girlfriend
Zhou Yinhe tugged at the corner of his mouth, impolitely throwing a mocking smile at his own old father.
Zhou Shuanglin clenched his fists, enduring but still not losing his temper.
"Why did you come back?" Zhou Shuanglin asked with a fake smile, "You don't even return to your own house, yet you have the time to come here."
Zhou Yinhe lifted his highball glass, took a sip of red wine, and said lightly, "I'm going to M Country tomorrow afternoon, probably for over ten days. I came over to say hello."
"Hmph." Zhou Shuanglin snorted, set the empty glass on the table, gesturing for Zhou Yinhe to pour him wine, "Anyway, you're just in Sijiucheng; I and your mother can't see you anyway, no need to greet."
Zhou Yinhe ignored his father's snide remarks, leaned over to pour his father's drink, then got up and prepared to go upstairs.
He walked while stretching, and as he reached the second floor, he tossed out a sentence.
"Go to sleep early; at your age, staying up late isn't good."
Zhou Shuanglin laughed in anger.
Zhou Yinhe returned to his room, sat on the balcony, head down, scrolling through his chat log with Wen Ling, and pursed his lips.
He really isn't clingy; he's just afraid—afraid Wen Ling won't come back, afraid he'll be abandoned like three years ago.
He grabbed his hair hard; the slightly curled strands became even messier, a few sticking up at the top of his head—if Wen Ling were there, she'd definitely find it cute.
Early morning, Ning Qing heard Zhou Shuanglin say her precious little son had stayed home last night, so she had just woken up and went to Zhou Yinhe's room to knock.
Zhou Yinhe lay on his side in bed; hearing the knock, he irritably pulled the blanket over his head. Fortunately, Ning Qing didn't keep knocking, but Zhou Yinhe's sleepiness had already faded considerably.
He sat up and saw the message Wen Ling had sent him before bed.
【Baobao, remember to tell me when you board the plane.】
He rubbed his face, curled his lips, and sent Wen Ling a cute "hmm" emoticon.
Zhou Yinhe got up, left the bed, pulled open the curtains, stretched toward the sunlight streaming in, then lowered his gaze and discovered his parents leisurely watering the flowers downstairs.
"Hey, beauty." He was in a great mood, clouds turning to high temperatures, because of Wen Ling's "baobao" and reminder.
Ning Qing looked up at him, her heart blossoming at her son's "beauty" comment, and called out, "Baby, come down for breakfast."
Zhou Yinhe nodded, raised his hand toward his father, and said with a curved lip, "Dad, take care of yourself; standing next to Mom, you look ten years older than her."
Zhou Shuanglin was so angry he wanted to squirt him with a water gun, but Ning Qing snatched it back.
"Why are you bullying my son?" She glared at Zhou Shuanglin.
Zhou Shuanglin: "……"
Isn't it the time when you can't stand being angered by your son?
Since Zhou Yinhe returned home last night, Zhou Shuanglin's frequency of being angered has greatly increased.
"Just go, leave me and my wife alone at home—how nice." Zhou Shuanglin sighed and followed Ning Qing back to the villa.
Zhou Yinhe yawned as he went downstairs, lazily sat at the dining table; the butler smiled while serving them breakfast, his gaze toward Zhou Yinhe full of affection.
"Xiao Wu hasn't been back for a while; what have you been up to lately?"
"Nothing much, just playing."
Zhou Shuanglin heard that, looked up at him, frowned, and said, "How long do you plan to keep your company open?"
"It'll close when it's supposed to." Zhou Yinhe drawled, "Why? Aren't my older brother and sister enough?"
Zhou Shuanglin's face sank; he usually doesn't react much to jokes, but as soon as business is mentioned, he looks ready to lecture.
Ning Qing tugged at his sleeve; Zhou Shuanglin pretended not to feel it, and said coldly, "We don't care how you usually mess around or play, but you need to have some sense about your own future."
Zhou Yinhe put down his chopsticks, locked eyes with his father, and said lightly, "What sense do I need? Dad, you already know the situation of my company."
"You—" Zhou Shuanglin was about to continue lecturing when Ning Qing reached out and twisted his waist hard, gritting her teeth, "Shut up, old lady; my son finally came back for a visit—what are you planning? Are you trying to overturn the heavens?"
Zhou Shuanglin hissed, and had to swallow the words about to escape his mouth.
Ning Qing looked at her little son and said gently, "Don't mind your dad, eat quickly, and later keep me company at the mall?"
"Sure." Zhou Yinhe nodded, "I'm flying to M Country tonight, so I can only accompany you until this afternoon."
Ning Qing stared for a moment, puzzled, "Why are you going to M Country?" She didn't know Wen Ling had returned to M Country.
"To find Wen Ling." Zhou Yinhe said bluntly, "She's been back three days; I'm worried."
Ning Qing sprang up, startled, "What? She left again?"
She began to panic, still thinking Wen Ling had abandoned her son again.
Ning Qing walked over, sat beside Zhou Yinhe, took his hand, and comforted him, "Baby, don't be upset; this time we can't——"
Zhou Yinhe pulled his hand back, frowned, and said, "What are you talking about? She just went to see her grandfather; she'll be back in a few days."
"Then why are you going too?" Ning Qing still wasn't reassured, her expression somewhat pained, thinking her son just didn't dare to face it.
"She's been back three days and plans to stay another ten days or so; I want to go find her."
Ning Qing's originally sympathetic expression instantly turned to disdain; thinking it was just missing someone, she got up and returned to her seat, walking while still unable to accept, saying, "You weren't clingy as a kid, but now you're clinging to your girlfriend—no ambition."
Zhou Shuanglin gave a cold chuckle, having long been mentally prepared for his son's lack of ambition, and casually said to his wife, "You already knew his stubborn temperament; what's there to not accept?"
"……" Now it was Ning Qing who was speechless.
After breakfast, Zhou Shuanglin voluntarily took on the driver's duty; needing to go to the company, he dropped off the mother and son at the entrance of the Zhou Family's shop.
The few luxury accessory stores Ning Qing often visits are on the fourth and fifth floors; she didn't bother browsing other levels, heading straight there, while Zhou Yinhe followed listlessly behind her.
Upon seeing Ning Qing, the boss lady, the manager respectfully stepped forward to greet, smiling as he led the two inside, saying along the way, "Madam, the bag you requested earlier has been readied for you; here it is."
"Good." Ning Qing nodded; the manager glanced furtively at the expressionless Zhou Yinhe, then continued to Ning Qing, "Madam, you're truly blessed—your kids take turns accompanying you on shopping trips."
Ning Qing also glanced back at Zhou Yinhe, curved her lips, and said, "Indeed."
Mother and son sat on the sofa; the manager brought over the bag, and with white-gloved hands meticulously introduced every detail of the bag to Ning Qing.
Zhou Yinhe leaned against the sofa edge, eyes down on his phone; Ning Qing called to him, "Xiao Wu, help Mom see if this bag looks good."
He could only lift his head for a glance, nodding, "It's okay."
Getting just his "it's okay" shows the bag is fine; Ning Qing told the manager, slightly embarrassed by Zhou Yinhe's evaluation, "Ignore him, let's wrap it up."
