Chapter 95
Sister.
Wen Zhuo remained silent for a long time, then suddenly spoke; Wen Ling raised an eyebrow and watched his back.
Why do you like him?
Wen Ling blinked, did not answer his question, and instead asked back, "Why are you asking that?"
"I just feel he doesn't really have anything particularly attractive, and I feel he's not good enough for you." Wen Zhuo lowered his eyes, trying to speak gently.
Wen Ling did not answer, slowly stood up and walked toward the castle, wiping her hair as she said, "Remember to go pick him up with me."
Wen Zhuo watched her back grow farther away, his fists trembling from being clenched tightly.
——
Zhou Yinhe's first thing after getting off the plane was to turn on his phone and call Wen Ling, his brows tightly furrowed, somewhat anxious.
The moment he saw Wen Ling, he curved his lips and strode forward, enveloping her in his arms, whispering, "I miss you so much."
Wen Ling wrapped her arms around his waist, hearing that she patted his back, her tone full of amusement: "You're so clingy, Baobao."
She had been softened by his coaxing; she pushed him away, pointed to Wen Zhuo behind her, and said with a smile, "This is my younger brother, Wen Zhuo."
Zhou Yinhe lifted his gaze to Wen Zhuo, his emotions inscrutable, but Wen Zhuo spoke first: "Hello, Fifth Young Master, I am Wen Zhuo."
Zhou Yinhe nodded, his arm around Wen Ling's waist, and softly said, "Will you stay at a hotel with me tonight?"
Wen Ling looked up at him, smiling with her eyes, reached up and pinched his cheek: "Won't you come stay at my place?"
"Tomorrow, but tonight stay at a hotel with me." Zhou Yinhe's intentions were written all over his face; he openly told Wen Ling he wanted her.
"But my grandfather hasn't slept yet; he's been waiting to see you." Wen Ling teased him on purpose; sure enough, a flicker of disappointment flashed in Zhou Yinhe's eyes, and he sighed helplessly: "All right."
Wen Zhuo smiled as he watched their affectionate conversation, but his fingertips gripping the car keys grew tighter; Wen Ling, held in Zhou Yinhe's arms listening to him talk, didn't notice, yet Zhou Yinhe captured this behavior in his eyes.
After getting in the car, Wen Ling told Wen Zhuo, "Stop at that hotel near Wen Garden later."
Upon hearing that, Zhou Yinhe tightened his grip on Wen Ling's hand; Wen Ling slowly lifted her eyelids, leaned toward him, bumping her chin against his shoulder, exhaling onto his neck.
Wen Zhuo glanced in the rearview mirror, his gaze meeting Zhou Yinhe's; upon seeing the dangerous emotion in Zhou Yinhe's eyes, Wen Zhuo looked away as if nothing had happened.
After arriving at the hotel, Wen Ling instructed, "If grandfather asks, say we'll visit him tomorrow."
Wen Zhuo smiled gently, nodded, and said, "Okay, sister."
His car remained stationary for a long time, only starting and leaving after he saw the two of them walking hand in hand disappear from sight.
After entering the hotel, Zhou Yinhe, disliking his travel-worn state, first went to the bathroom to take a shower; at that moment Wen Ling was standing on the balcony, listlessly gazing at the prosperous night scene.
He stepped forward and embraced Wen Ling, his lips brushing her ear, and hoarsely asked, "Wen Zhuo, are you blood-related to her?"
Between men, whenever one has any thought about the other's exclusivity, they sense it immediately, especially someone like Zhou Yinhe, who is extremely possessive and controlling.
Wen Ling turned her face to meet his gaze, blinked, and asked, "Why are you asking that?"
"I heard he's an adopted child of the Wen Family, and outsiders think he was adopted from another branch." Zhou Yinhe couldn't tell her otherwise, so he casually made up an excuse.
"No, the Wen Family's branch basically severed ties with my grandfather's generation, so there's no contact; moreover, entrusting such a large Wen Family to a branch's child to manage on my behalf makes it hard to guarantee they won't be greedy." Wen Ling shook her head and continued: "He was rescued by my parents in a war-torn country; two years ago I fell ill, the Wen Family affairs were too complicated, and my grandfather, fearing it would burden my health, decided to register him under my parents' names."
She extended her slender, fair arms around his neck, tiptoed to kiss the corner of his cool, mint-flavored lips, and softly said, "In his heart I am his true older sister, and he is my true younger brother, just like Lu Zhaoye, so don't be jealous."
Zhou Yinhe raised his hand to press the back of her head, deepening the kiss, his half-lidded eyes thoughtful; it seemed Wen Zhuo had not exposed his thoughts to Wen Ling.
He bent over, lifted Wen Ling and carried her toward the bed, and Wen Ling wiggled her calves, saying, "I haven't taken a shower yet."
Zhou Yinhe's steps paused; he turned with her in his arms toward the bathroom, saying as they walked, "Let's shower together."
Wen Ling blew a breath into his ear and asked, "Didn't you already take a shower?"
"I want to wash again, together with you."
Before Wen Ling returned to M Country, Zhou Yinhe's waist was just right; together they had not been properly together for at least a month, which led to Zhou Yinhe being wildly excessive tonight.
"I'm going to die." Wen Ling gritted her teeth, grabbed his hair, and pulled him away from herself.
Zhou Yinhe's eyes were deep red, bloodshot; he pursed his lips, aggrieved, and said, "But I miss you so much; can't you endure a little longer for my sake?"
"I also want to endure." Wen Ling squeezed out a few words from her clenched teeth: "Have you thought about what would happen if you killed me today, and what we'd do afterward?"
Zhou Yinhe blinked in surprise; only after standing up did he realize Wen Ling was actually bleeding; he instantly panicked, rose, and trembling, reached to embrace Wen Ling.
"What should I do? You're bleeding." His mind went blank; he didn't know what to do.
As Wen Ling moved her leg, pain shot through, draining the color from her face.
"Go call the front desk and have them help buy medicine." She struggled to push him away, lay on her side on the bed, staying still to ease the pain.
Zhou Yinhe quickly nodded in agreement, but as he got up to make the call he almost fell to the floor; this made Wen Ling let out a muffled laugh, yet it aggravated her pain and she couldn't help but hiss.
While he was on the phone, he kept looking at Wen Ling; not long after the call ended, hotel staff arrived, Zhou Yinhe threw on a robe, fetched the medicine, and carefully applied it to Wen Ling.
"Is it better now?" Zhou Yinhe pressed his lips, his eyes full of guilt and unease.
Wen Ling closed her eyes, exhausted, and hummed in response; only then did Zhou Yinhe slightly relax.
They were about to fall asleep, but Wen Ling grew angrier the more she thought; she was about to lift her leg to kick Zhou Yinhe, then remembered the last time she kicked him and injured his waist for a month before it healed, so she instead reached out to pinch the flesh on his waist.
Zhou Yinhe covered his waist, enduring the pain while apologizing; Wen Ling saw his eye rims all red, seeming even more pitiable than herself, she gritted her teeth, withdrew her hand with a cold snort, and with difficulty turned over, refusing to look at him.
"Sorry, don't be angry." Zhou Yinhe rubbed up against her and held her tight, whispering, "I know I was wrong; I won't do this again; you should be able to understand me—I just miss you too much, so don't be angry."
