Chapter 96: Why Does a Big Man Look So Good?
Wen Ling was annoyed to death by his constant nagging, and warned, "If you keep nagging me, I really won't forgive you."
Zhou Yinhe immediately shut up, rubbed the back of her neck, Wen Ling sighed, turned over and buried herself in his arms, hugging him and patting his back.
"Go to sleep."
Zhou Yinhe tightened his arms contentedly, closed his eyes and let out a satisfied sigh, her fragrance filling his nostrils, feeling reassured and full.
The next morning, Zhou Yinhe woke early, worried about Wen Ling's injury, carefully applied medicine to her, then rubbed his waist which had become sore again from last night's excessive diligence, got back into bed and held Wen Ling in his arms.
They slept until nearly noon, only to be awakened by a phone call from Wen Zhuo.
Zhou Yinhe picked up the phone, answered it, and placed it beside the still drowsy Wen Ling's ear; Wen Zhuo's voice came through faintly.
"Older sister, when are you coming? Grandfather is a little unhappy."
Wen Ling lifted her gaze to Zhou Yinhe, who was kneeling opposite her in a difficult posture, holding up the phone, she curled the corner of her mouth, didn't bother with last night's matter, pinched his wrist, and told Wen Zhuo, "Right away, we'll be there in an hour."
Seeing grandfather, Wen Ling didn't care much about her appearance, but Zhou Yinhe kept changing outfits one after another without end.
Wen Ling leaned against the headboard, massaging her sore waist and legs, helping Zhou Yinhe discuss which outfit looked better.
Zhou Yinhe was immensely grateful that he had brought several outfits beforehand; otherwise, there would be no time to buy clothes before meeting Wen Ling's grandfather.
In the end, they actually chose the outfit he had first tried on.
A loose white shirt and black trousers; because the shirt was loose, one could faintly see his collarbone and well-built chest.
Wen Ling gazed at him; each time she saw Zhou Yinhe's face, she was stunned. She reached out to him, waited until he approached, then straightened up and fiercely pinched his face, gritting her teeth with a hint of jealousy.
"You're a big man, why are you so handsome?"
Zhou Yinhe couldn't help laughing, brushed her cheek with the back of his hand, and softly coaxed, "Let me hold you while you wash up, then I'll change your clothes, okay?"
Wen Ling moved her legs, still sore, so she had no choice but to stretch out her arms to let him hold her.
The white shirt Wen Ling wore to pick him up last night had its buttons popped off by Zhou Yinhe's rough handling; after showering, she wrapped herself in a robe, looked at her clothes, and took a deep breath.
Why is the quality of these haute couture clothes so poor!
Zhou Yinhe felt a bit guilty, glanced at the time, and then carefully said, "How about you wear my shirt for now as a makeshift?"
Wen Ling glanced at him sideways, resigned; there was no time if she didn't wear it, fortunately the shorts were still intact.
Zhou Yinhe only looked tall and thin, but actually had low body fat and well-defined muscles, with plenty of chest, abdominal, and mermaid line; the shirt on Wen Ling, who was much shorter and slimmer than him, looked like a child stealing an adult's clothes.
Wen Ling had to tie a knot at the hem and roll up the sleeves a bit to barely make it fit; overall it had a peculiar attractiveness, at least in Zhou Yinhe's eyes he felt seduced, and when they got into the car sent by the Wen family, he kept his gaze down, thinking about how to coax Wen Ling into wearing his clothes more often.
"What are you thinking about?" Wen Ling glanced at him several times; seeing his dazed look, she thought he was nervous.
Zhou Yinhe shook his head and interlaced his fingers with Wen Ling's.
Upon arriving at Wen Garden, Zhou Yinhe lifted his eyes to survey the massive European-style castle ahead, raising his eyebrows.
Feng Qi Yuan and Wen Garden are actually similar in size, but Ning Qing prefers French style, so they look quite different.
Wen Lao was sitting in the garden at that moment, Wen Zhuo opposite him, laughing and coaxing him to calm down; Wen Lao had almost been appeased, but when he saw Wen Ling and Zhou Yinhe walking over hand in hand, his face turned cold again.
Wen Lao sized up Zhou Yinhe, especially noticing that he and Wen Ling shared the same hair color and that Wen Ling's top was clearly different from what she had worn when she left earlier, and let out a cold snort.
"Grandfather, this is Zhou Yinhe, my boyfriend." Wen Ling ignored Wen Lao's childish sulky expression, took Zhou Yinhe's hand, and walked up to them.
"Hmm, I'm not so old that I can't see clearly; I know he's your boyfriend." Wen Ling gave Zhou Yinhe a sideways glance, and seeing Wen Ling's obvious displeasure, he finally sat up straight, gaining a bit of an elder's demeanor.
Zhou Yinhe felt a bit nervous inside, gave a light laugh and slightly bowed: "Wen Grandfather, hello, I'm Zhou Yinhe, Wen Ling's boyfriend."
"I know," Wen Lao instinctively wanted to retort, but hearing Wen Ling's light cough, he swallowed his words and said blandly, "Please sit; a guest is a guest, standing like that isn't proper."
Wen Ling took Zhou Yinhe's hand and sat to Wen Lao's left; as soon as she sat down, Wen Lao leaned in and whispered, "What's going on with your clothes?"
"The hotel door handle snagged it yesterday and broke the button." Wen Ling had already prepared this excuse, looking at the steward she said, "Remember to find that designer; how fragile it is, a slight tug can rip the button off."
The steward suppressed a laugh and replied; Wen Lao was choked by this earnest explanation, now he couldn't find fault even if he tried.
Wen Zhuo stood up voluntarily to pour tea for Zhou Yinhe, smiling, "Fifth Young Master, have some tea; this is something my sister snatched up at the Hua Guo auction three years ago and had sent over; grandfather really likes it."
He deliberately brought up three years ago just to remind Wen Lao not to let Wen Ling's repeated remarks distract him; sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, Wen Ling glared at him.
Wen Lao then recalled the main point, his stern gaze piercing Wen Ling to fall on Zhou Yinhe, and he said coldly, "Young Master Zhou, I heard that when my precious granddaughter first arrived in Hua Guo she caused you quite a bit of trouble; I apologize here first, but you rejected my precious granddaughter back then, so why are you with her now?"
Wen Ling felt his words were overly pointed, frowned, and said, "Grandfather, what are you doing?"
Zhou Yinhe squeezed Wen Ling's palm, stood up, and said to Wen Lao, "Wen Grandfather, I know you'll surely be angry; I came this time not only to find Wen Ling but also to explain things to you."
"Wen Ling came to Sijiucheng to find me, but I was afraid deep down that she would abandon me like three years ago, so I kept refusing, which ended up hurting Wen Ling."
"I also can't forget her; when Wen Ling told me she wouldn't come looking for me anymore, I finally faced my inner self honestly and realized I was actually a coward."
"Even from the moment Wen Ling returned, I wanted to reconcile; hurting Wen Ling for my own concerns and face was my mistake."
Wen Lao lifted his eyes to look at him, only after a long while withdrawing his gaze, his tone somewhat improved: "Please sit; standing so tall makes me crane my neck to look at you, tiring me out—I really don't know how to accommodate an elder."
