Chapter 125: The Brawl
At this moment, Zhao Gaoyang was being pinned to the ground by a tall, burly male student, while several passersby nearby were pulling at the male student to break up the fight.
"F*** your mother, if you don't have the ability, why act like a hero? I was just trying to pick up a girl and you had to stick your nose in. Who the hell do you think you are?"
The male student cursed while grabbing Zhao Gaoyang's hair tightly and refusing to let go.
Xu Heng had a slight impression of this person; he was from the neighboring Chinese Language and Literature Class 1, and they shared the same counselor.
So, without much hesitation, he dialed the counselor's number and briefly explained the situation, saying that Zhao Gaoyang and a male student from Class 1 were fighting on campus.
Fighting is a serious issue!
A minor case would result in a disciplinary warning and a school-wide notice of criticism; a severe one could even lead to expulsion.
Upon hearing this, the counselor couldn't sit still and said, "Try your best to keep things under control and don't let the situation escalate. I'll be there immediately."
Because other students were helping to break up the fight, the situation didn't worsen, but Zhao Gaoyang was not the type to admit defeat.
The tall male student asked him if he yielded, but he gritted his teeth and didn't make a sound.
"F*** your mother, you won't yield, huh? You're a weakling but you've got some guts. I'll beat you until you yield today."
Just as the tall male student was about to land a heavy slap on Zhao Gaoyang, his entire body suddenly curled up like a shrimp, and he collapsed to the ground in pain.
Several students who were breaking up the fight took the opportunity to drag him away, putting some distance between him and Zhao Gaoyang.
The tall male student stared at Zhao Gaoyang with bloodshot eyes, wishing he could skin him alive.
This underhanded move allowed Zhao Gaoyang to successfully regain some face in front of the tall male student, and he spat on the ground in satisfaction.
"You little bastard, come at me again if you have the guts! I'll tear that mouth of yours to shreds!"
After the two were separated, they were both being held back by others and had no chance to continue fighting; naturally, a verbal war replaced fists and feet, with spittle flying everywhere.
The number of students watching the spectacle grew, and it wasn't until Counselor Yang arrived that most of them dispersed.
"One, two, both of you follow me to my office!" Counselor Yang's face was so gloomy it looked like it was about to drip water.
For news of such a vile act as student fighting to reach the ears of school leaders was a massive negation of his work performance.
It meant that Zhao Gaoyang and the tall male student fighting would implicate him for no reason at all.
When the school issued a notice of criticism, everyone would know that two students under his supervision had acted on impulse and fought on campus; where would that leave his reputation?
This was exactly what made Counselor Yang the angriest, so without another word, he took Zhao Gaoyang and the other student away.
After the parties involved left, there was no more spectacle to watch, and the onlookers scattered in a flurry.
Xu Heng, who was not far away, saw this scene and said to Jiang Mengyuan, "Let's go too."
"It seems like one of the people fighting just now was your roommate..." Jiang Mengyuan said, puzzled.
"Don't worry, the counselor will handle this," Xu Heng said. "A fight like this, as long as it doesn't end up in the hospital, is just a disciplinary warning. It's not a big problem."
"Oh."
Of course, Xu Heng only said this to comfort Jiang Mengyuan.
They were on a date today; he couldn't let other matters put her in a bad mood.
Fighting has a significant impact on a student's evaluation. The commotion from Zhao Gaoyang fighting someone else had attracted dozens of onlookers, which was a mistake that severely affected the school's discipline.
Xu Heng didn't know how the "Blue-Faced Beast" handled the matter later, but when he returned to the dorm, Zhao Gaoyang was sitting at his desk with his head down, silent and sullen.
"Writing a self-criticism, and tomorrow there'll be a school-wide broadcast of criticism," Cheng Huaiyu said, munching on an apple with a laugh. "Alright, Old Zhao, you've finally fulfilled your wish. Tomorrow the whole school will know who you are."
Xu Heng frowned and asked Zhao Gaoyang, "What exactly happened that made you fight with that guy from Class 1?"
"None of your business," Zhao Gaoyang said, as if sulking.
He didn't want to say the reason, and Xu Heng couldn't be bothered to ask, so he shook his head and returned to his own desk to type.
Not long after, someone suddenly knocked on the door.
Zhao Gaoyang jumped in a nervous startle.
Cheng Huaiyu said with schadenfreude, "Could it be the Blue-Faced Beast coming for a secret inspection in the middle of the night? Or maybe that kid from Class 1 didn't get enough of you and came specifically to challenge you to another fight?"
"In my opinion, it's probably the school leaders coming to clarify the situation," Sheng Bo said casually while scrolling through his phone. "Haven't you checked the school forum? Lots of people know about this, which means the news has spread. The school leaders must know by now; they might have rushed over overnight to make Old Zhao press his red thumbprint, and maybe they'll even call his parents over later."
The two of them were exaggerating more than the other, and Zhao Gaoyang's already nervous state was made even more guilty by their words; his face turned pale, and cold sweat streamed down his forehead.
They were all students; there wasn't one who wasn't afraid of the school calling their parents.
Especially since Zhao Gaoyang had always had a good reputation in their village since he was a child; all the neighbors knew that Zhaojiatun had an excellent young man who had been admitted to a prestigious university.
Every time he went home for summer or winter break, everyone would give him a thumbs-up and praise him.
If his parents found out now that the son they held in such high regard had violated school rules and discipline, the image of the "good boy" he had built up would be completely shattered.
"I'm... I'm going to hide. If it's the school leaders, just tell them I'm not in the dorm and went to the library," Zhao Gaoyang said, rushing to the balcony in a panic and closing the door.
Cheng Huaiyu muttered that he could hide from the first day but not the fifteenth; as long as he was at school, he would have to face the school leaders eventually.
At this moment, Xu Heng opened the door, and it wasn't the school leaders Sheng Bo had been spouting nonsense about, but Fan Xi.
"The counselor asked me to come and understand the situation," Fan Xi said.
Xu Heng met her eyes and found them full of worry.
"Why did he give you this thankless task instead of coming himself? Shouldn't you write a letter to the principal's mailbox saying our counselor is exploiting labor?" Xu Heng joked.
But Fan Xi didn't laugh; she shook her head and said, "This matter has to do with me," then looked toward the balcony: "I know you're in there, Zhao Gaoyang, come out!"
Zhao Gaoyang, who was crouching by the door, opened it awkwardly: "Class Monitor, how did you find out?"
"Your feet were sticking out; try to be more professional when you hide," Fan Xi asked, annoyed. "Why did you fight with him?"
"That guy is no good; he has a girlfriend at the nursing school nearby..."
"Do you think I'm an idiot? You think I don't know?"
"I just wanted to help you get rid of him..."
Zhao Gaoyang wanted to explain further, but Fan Xi interrupted him: "How many times do I have to say it? My business is none of your concern, we have nothing to do with each other!"
It was rare to see Fan Xi lose her temper at her own classmate; it was clear she was truly angry this time.
