Chapter 90: You Actually Started a Company?
The morning sunlight filtered through the glass, stinging Dan Yuyue's eyelids slightly.
She opened her eyes in a daze, staring at the white ceiling.
Where is this? How did she end up in such an unfamiliar place, and why was her whole body aching and devoid of strength?
It's over. She couldn't have gotten drunk last night and been picked up by someone, could she!?
For a fleeting moment, a terrible thought crossed Dan Yuyue's mind; it was said that many thugs roamed the streets at night, specifically targeting women who were drunk outside bars.
But she quickly dismissed this notion, because she had been with Xu Heng last night, and it seemed he was the one who brought her back...
Xu Heng!
Thinking of this, Dan Yuyue was startled and struggled to climb up from the sofa bed; the blanket covering her was kicked to the floor, and a sudden chill emerged from below, as if something were missing.
She looked down and realized her skirt had been changed, and most crucially.
Where were her panties?
Dan Yuyue felt around below; it was clean and dry, with nothing there.
Damn it!
Damn it, this thick-browed, big-eyed Xu Heng isn't such a good person either! Her pure, innocent body had been ruined by him just like that.
Dan Yuyue felt a surge of rage rush to her head and immediately wanted to find Xu Heng to have it out with him face-to-face.
At that moment, Xu Heng happened to be sitting up from his office desk, fighting off sleepiness.
He had been terrified that Dan Yuyue would wet herself again in his office last night, so he had stayed here all night without leaving; he had spent half the night dozing on the desk, and since his sleep quality was already poor, he woke up as soon as Dan Yuyue made a noise.
"What's wrong, making such a racket."
"I'm going to kill you, you beast in human clothing!"
Xu Heng instinctively reached out and pinned the charging Dan Yuyue onto the office desk.
"Wah! You're bullying me!" Dan Yuyue had a small frame but a huge temper; she opened her mouth and shouted, "You heartless villain! Scum!"
Xu Heng was speechless. He said helplessly, "Can you stop yelling and get the facts straight first?"
"Get what straight? You already 'got' me."
"Let's sort this out." Xu Heng increased his strength to pin her wriggling arms to the desk as well. "You were drunk last night."
"Even if I was drunk, you shouldn't have taken advantage of me!"
"How much of what happened later do you remember? You were the one who said you didn't want to go back to the dorm."
Reminded by Xu Heng, Dan Yuyue vaguely remembered saying that, but she still bared her teeth and said stubbornly, "Setting aside the facts, even if I'm ninety-nine percent responsible, don't you have any responsibility at all?"
Xu Heng couldn't be bothered to argue with her and explained slowly, "Then I brought you here to let you sleep."
"And then what! What beastly things did you do to me after that?!"
"After that, you wet the bed."
"..."
Xu Heng handed her the skirt and panties he had been airing on the windowsill.
"Take a sniff, the smell is still there."
The smell of urine instantly entered Dan Yuyue's nasal cavity, pungent and foul.
With both human and physical evidence present, Dan Yuyue suddenly realized what a shameful thing had happened last night.
She had actually... wet herself in front of another boy!
She finally understood what Xu Heng meant by "social death."
At this moment, she wished she could dig a hole in the floor and crawl into it; her entire face was burning red, and her expression was incredibly mortified.
"I didn't mean to," Dan Yuyue said in a low voice.
"It's fine, it happens when you drink too much beer. I understand."
"Then my pants..."
"I changed them with my eyes closed; I definitely didn't see anything."
Not turning on the lights was equivalent to closing his eyes—no problem there. As for the moonlight shining in, that was the moonlight's fault and had nothing to do with him. Xu Heng told the lie without changing his expression.
Dan Yuyue's alcohol hadn't fully worn off, and she was still a bit muddled. She didn't even notice the massive bug in the idea of a boy changing a girl's clothes with his eyes closed, and instead said apologetically, "Thank you. I misunderstood you earlier, Xu Heng. You really are a good person."
"Yeah, yeah, hurry up and put your pants on."
"They smell, I don't want to wear them." Dan Yuyue disgustedly threw the yellowish-white cotton panties into the trash can.
Xu Heng's mouth twitched: "If you don't wear them, I don't have any others for you. Do you expect to go back to school without any pants on?"
"You go out and buy me a pair, I'll pay you," Dan Yuyue said with a cheeky grin.
After what happened last night, her attitude toward Xu Heng had become more intimate; she was now bold enough to let him handle such private matters as buying panties for her.
Considering it really wasn't appropriate for her to go back to school wearing urine-soaked underwear, Xu Heng helplessly asked a female employee outside to go to Laiponi on the first floor of the commercial building to buy a few pairs of undergarments and bring them up, charging it to the company account.
When he returned to the office with the unopened box of undergarments, he found Dan Yuyue fiddling with the potted plants in the office.
He placed the undergarments on the sofa, told her to call him when she was done changing, and then turned to leave, closing the office door behind him.
It didn't take two minutes to unwrap and put on a pair of panties, and Dan Yuyue's voice came from inside the office: "Come in."
Xu Heng yawned and asked, "Are we going back to the school cafeteria for breakfast or to the snack street?"
"Let's go back to school, I still need to wash up." Dan Yuyue's spirits had recovered quite well; aside from her hair being a mess, her complexion looked much better than the bitter face she had yesterday.
"By the way, where is this? It looks a bit like where a big boss would stay," Dan Yuyue said with a smile, leaning back in the leather chair.
"My office."
"Office? Did you find a part-time job outside?"
"I started a company out here," Xu Heng said.
Dan Yuyue clearly didn't believe him: "We're at this stage of our relationship, do we still need to joke around? Tell me where you're working; to have such a spacious office, maybe I'll come take a look tomorrow and see if I can snag a position similar to yours."
Xu Heng scratched his head, and just as he was thinking about how to explain, Tang Zhi, the balding man, pushed open the office door, holding a thick stack of documents.
"Boss, our general plan was completed yesterday afternoon. Do you think we should put the specific card design on the agenda? I suggest we start development by this week at the latest."
While speaking, Tang Zhi glanced at Dan Yuyue beside Xu Heng, but quickly withdrew his gaze and said nothing more.
As a seasoned veteran who had been grinding in society for over a decade, he knew what to do in what kind of situation, and he also knew what could be asked and what could not.
"So fast?"
Hearing this, Xu Heng was slightly surprised. The company had only been officially established the day before yesterday, and Tang Zhi and the others had completed the company's preliminary directional plan in just yesterday alone; a small team of thirty-one people worked even more nimbly than some large companies with hundreds of employees.
Should he say it was because they were young? Having vigor and drive was truly good.
Thus, Xu Heng talked with Tang Zhi for a few more minutes about the company's subsequent development matters, explaining to him some of his own ideas and concepts regarding card design.
These ideas might not all be applicable to the domestic card market in 2007, but they could still provide Tang Zhi with quite a bit of inspiration.
After Tang Zhi left, Xu Heng turned back to look at Dan Yuyue, who at this moment had her small mouth wide open.
"Holy crap, Xu Heng, you really started a company?"
