Chapter 10: Bai Weiwei Finds the Lick Dog Password

~8 min read 1,487 words

As a second-tier city with a developed economy, Jiangzhou's cost of living is not low.

Especially in large, comprehensive shopping malls like Wanxiang City, where big-name brands are gathered.

In the past, Zhou Yue would often drag Lin Dazhi here to shop and spend money; when Lin Dazhi's financial situation was good, he would occasionally splurge in those first-tier brand stores, though most of the time it was to buy things for Zhou Yue, mainly big-name clothes, bags, and cosmetics.

As for Lin Dazhi himself, well, in Zhou Yue's words, a rough grown man didn't need to buy big brands; clothes costing a hundred or eighty yuan were just fine, and if they wore out, it wouldn't hurt to just replace them with new ones.

So, in the years he spent living with her, Lin Dazhi was always dressed in street-stall goods, with his entire outfit from top to bottom costing no more than two hundred yuan; over time, he got used to it.

But it wasn't until he divorced Zhou Yue that Lin Dazhi realized his frugality hadn't made the household wealthy. Having worked in education and training for so many years, he had earned at least one or two million, yet when it came time to divide the property during the divorce, Lin Dazhi discovered that Zhou Yue had less than twenty thousand yuan left in her hands.

At the time, Lin Dazhi was shocked and asked her where the money had gone; Zhou Yue was evasive and downplayed the issue, and in the end, she simply turned the tables, scolding Lin Dazhi for being incompetent at earning money and for haggling over a little bit of cash with a woman, saying she had been blind to spend so many years with him, that her youth had been fed to the dogs, and a whole lot more—in any case, it was all Lin Dazhi's fault.

Later on, Lin Dazhi couldn't be bothered to argue with her; if the money was gone, so be it—the sooner they divorced, the sooner he would be away from the mental torture of this woman.

In fact, Lin Dazhi had a rough idea; Zhou Yue was always free-spending and had no concept of saving, and coupled with her good-for-nothing younger brother who wanted to change phones today and buy a car tomorrow, Zhou Yue had secretly spent a lot of money on her brother behind his back for many years, not to mention the money she secretly gave her parents; one could only say that this woman was truly too eager to be a good sister and daughter, but never once thought about being a good wife.

"In her heart, I suppose I was just a tool man who only knew how to earn money," Lin Dazhi thought to himself with a touch of self-mockery while standing in the underground garage of Wanxiang City.

"Lin, my dear, what are you thinking about?" Bai Weiwei parked the car, very consciously took Lin Dazhi's arm, and pressed her two plump mounds tightly against Lin Dazhi, looking like a little bird relying on its mate.

"Thinking about Zhou Yue," Lin Dazhi said with a smile, his hand naturally resting on Bai Weiwei's soft waist, sliding slightly downward until it landed on a rounded curve.

Bai Weiwei didn't mind at all; on the contrary, she felt a bit smug. With the backing of one hundred million, whatever Lin Dazhi did in front of her now was full of charm.

Hearing his words, Bai Weiwei giggled and said, "What? Regret it?"

"Regret?" Lin Dazhi turned his head to look at Bai Weiwei's charming face, kissed her smooth forehead lightly, and then said, "I do regret it—I regret not divorcing sooner."

"Why? Wasn't Zhou Yue good to you?" Bai Weiwei accompanied Lin Dazhi toward the elevator and asked with some curiosity upon hearing him say that.

"You two are best friends; don't you know what kind of person she is?" Lin Dazhi sneered and asked back when he heard her.

"Zhou Yue, well... how should I put it? I feel like she's a bit overbearing, the type who is very opinionated, quite competitive, and she's a bit sharp-tongued, likes to complain, and is also somewhat vain. Hey, actually, let me tell you, women are all like that," Bai Weiwei said with a giggle.

"You're quite good at speaking well of her; you really are a good best friend," Lin Dazhi said with a mocking tone.

"Well... Lin, if you don't like me saying that, I won't say it anymore," Bai Weiwei hurriedly changed her tune upon sensing that Lin Dazhi was a bit unhappy.

"Of course I don't like hearing it. Opinionated? Is that what you call being opinionated? That's called a desire for control! Let me tell you, I hate that kind of woman the most right now. Bai Weiwei, if you learn from her, don't say I didn't warn you—get out immediately!" Lin Dazhi said with an unkind tone.

"Yes, yes, yes... Lin, you are so right. Zhou Yue just wants to control everything; people who are teachers are all like that. I actually find her very annoying a lot of the time, sometimes she's especially pretentious!" Bai Weiwei hurriedly followed Lin Dazhi's lead.

"Oh? What do you mean by especially pretentious? Give me an example?" Lin Dazhi asked with interest upon hearing Bai Weiwei's words.

Seeing Lin Dazhi's expression turn from cloudy to sunny, Bai Weiwei felt a surge of joy.

"So he hates Zhou Yue too, that makes things easy. I was worried he still had lingering feelings for her; that scared me to death," Bai Weiwei figured out Lin Dazhi's thoughts and made a plan in her mind.

"Sigh, Zhou Yue, oh Zhou Yue, don't blame your friend for selling you out; it's just that your ex-husband pays too much," Bai Weiwei thought to herself, then said to Lin Dazhi with a giggle: "It's just that she loves to show off. She always thinks her profession is particularly noble and looks down on the rest of us. Last time we went shopping together, I bought a slightly expensive bag, and she started nagging, saying I was wasting money and didn't know how to be frugal, but look at her—she doesn't even blink when buying those designer clothes," Bai Weiwei continued, her tone full of dissatisfaction with Zhou Yue.

Lin Dazhi chuckled and mocked, "She has the nerve to talk about frugality? I earned at least two million in the last few years, and by the time we divorced, she had only twenty thousand left. Heh, frugality—she really has the nerve to say that."

"Ah? Really? How could she be so wasteful? I wouldn't dare spend like that!" Bai Weiwei said in surprise after hearing Lin Dazhi's words.

"Ding, detected that the Host has made the Male God feel happy through conversation, reward: Lick Dog Value +10."

The system notification sounded right on time, making Bai Weiwei both surprised and delighted!

"I just said Zhou Yue was wasteful, and Lin is this happy? It seems he truly detests Zhou Yue, so that makes things easy," Bai Weiwei thought triumphantly, more determined to follow his wishes.

"Lin, you don't know, Zhou Yue also loves to boss people around. One time we went traveling together, from booking the hotel to arranging the itinerary, she was the only one who made the decisions and didn't consider anyone else's opinion at all. If anyone suggested a different idea, she wouldn't be happy and insisted that everyone do as she said. I was truly impressed—who does she think she is!"

"She is indeed like that; it was the same at home," Lin Dazhi shook his head.

"Exactly, let me tell you, Lin. She is also extremely selfish when it comes to relationships. Back when you two were together, she only thought about how you should treat her well and didn't consider you at all. When you were busy with work, she still insisted that you accompany her to do this and that; there were several times I couldn't even stand to watch," Bai Weiwei said with increasing enthusiasm.

Lin Dazhi was silent for a moment, then sighed. "Forget it, let's not talk about her; it's all in the past anyway."

Bai Weiwei nodded hurriedly. "That's right, Lin, let's not mention her. From now on, you have me to accompany you. Let me tell you, she will regret divorcing you sooner or later." As she spoke, she held Lin Dazhi's arm even more tightly and accompanied him into the elevator.

"Lin, let's go to the second floor to look around first; I want to buy you something," Bai Weiwei asked for Lin Dazhi's opinion.

"Fine, I'll leave it to you to arrange; I'll just wait for you to be a Lick Dog and do nothing," Lin Dazhi pinched her delicate little nose and gave it a twist, joking.
