Chapter 829: Immortals Retreat
The remains of the Tianyue Demon King were destroyed, and only then did Li Yi let out a long breath of relief.
A grudge that had lasted for years was finally settled today; at least for a while, he no longer needed to fear being hunted by a Demon King—but this only meant temporary safety.
Once the news of Tianyue Demon King's death reached the Demon God Realm, Li Yi feared he would once again become a public enemy.
After double-checking the battlefield and finding no other issues, Li Yi turned his gaze to the Primordial Spirit of Master Yulian.
With Master Yulian's cultivation base, even her Primordial Spirit could endure in the cosmos, though she would never regain her peak.
Yet as he looked at Master Yulian, Li Yi hesitated over how to handle her—but soon, he sighed softly and lowered his hostility.
Regardless of anything, Master Yulian had indeed saved him; had she not stepped in to block the Tianyue Demon King, he would have died without doubt. Any future conflict between them would be a matter for later.
"Thank you, Master Yulian, for coming to my aid," Li Yi said, lowering his bow and stepping onto a blessed cloud as he approached to express his gratitude.
Master Yulian clasped her hands together and said: "It was your destiny not to perish—I had no intention of saving you, only of subduing demons. But my power was insufficient to subdue this demon, and I nearly perished myself. Truly, I should be the one thanking you; had you not slain this demon, I would already be dead."
She had seen what had just transpired.
If Li Yi had been ruthless, he could have waited for the Demon King to kill Master Yulian before striking—eliminating both threats at once—but he did not do so.
This compassion in saving others deeply impressed Master Yulian.
"Regardless, without Master Yulian, this Demon King would never have died so easily."
Li Yi said: "But now is not the time to debate who saved whom. The danger here has not yet passed—we must leave quickly. If you trust me, you may temporarily reside your Primordial Spirit within the Tianyi Palace; it contains abundant life essence, beneficial for Primordial Spirit cultivation."
As he spoke, he took out the Tianyi Palace.
"Very well, then I shall trouble you," Master Yulian replied without suspicion; her Primordial Spirit shimmered into a beam of Buddhist light and entered the Tianyi Palace.
Indeed.
Within the palace lay a hidden world, brimming with vast life essence. Though Li Yi had consumed much during his own cultivation, what remained was more than enough for Master Yulian.
After retrieving the Tianyi Palace, Li Yi swiftly cleared the battlefield, gathering up the Black Gold Arrows, Crimson Gold Arrows, fragments of the Immortal Artifact, the flesh-bodied Bodhisattva statue, and the Demon King's weapons.
Then he followed his original path to leave this strange land.
Such a great battle, combined with the departure of the Sword Immortal earlier, meant this place could no longer be stayed in—if reinforcements arrived, his current state would likely mean certain death.
Soon.
Li Yi departed reluctantly; after spending over ten days here, his progress had been immense—he now possessed strength capable of confronting Immortals. If he cultivated a few more decades, he might even awaken the Three Flowers atop his head.
At that point, even a Demon King would likely retreat before him.
But the current situation forced him to leave.
And Li Yi's decision was correct.
Barely moments after he swiftly departed, several spiritual senses swept across from the Xuanxian Continent, followed by bursts of immortal light as multiple figures appeared one after another.
Immortals from the Xuanxian Continent had teleported directly here.
"Too late—the battle has just ended," said an elderly Immortal with an ethereal aura, squinting at the devastated landscape.
Merely from the residual aura left behind, one could tell how brutal the battle had been.
"Feihong Immortal is likely dead. The power displayed here exceeds the limits of what an Immortal can withstand. Why? How could a mere Li Yi possibly possess such strength?" another Immortal frowned. "It wasn't Li Yi. It was a strange and mysterious woman who followed him. She isn't an Earth evolutionist—she's a powerhouse from another world, possessing strength comparable to a Demon King."
A Sword Immortal, grim-faced, spoke—he was Qingyuan Sword Immortal, of the same sect as the wounded and fleeing Bai Xuan Sword Immortal: the Jade Sword Sect.
He had seen Bai Xuan Sword Immortal return to the sect, grievously wounded, barely clinging to life.
Fortunately, he survived.
Had he died, the Jade Sword Sect might have declined.
Even so, Bai Xuan would need centuries of cultivation to recover his peak.
"Ah, now it makes sense. The Earth evolutionists, cornered, have begun inviting experts from other worlds. But I never expected Li Yi to secure such a powerful ally—damnable." The ethereal Immortal growled.
"There's nothing we can do. Earth evolutionists love crossing realms—many do, and inevitably, a few extraordinary ones emerge. Wait—Feihong Immortal is dead, Bai Xuan is wounded—what of the Demon King from the Demon God Realm?"
Suddenly, Qingyuan Sword Immortal scanned the battlefield again, searching for the Demon King's presence.
Though they were all immortal and ageless, after dealings with the Demon God Realm, they had to admit: the Demon Kings there were immensely powerful, far surpassing Immortals in combat, nearly matching True Immortals.
The other Immortals also scanned the area, eventually discovering traces of Demon King blood and scattered fragments of jade-like stones.
These jade fragments retained intense Demon King aura.
"Tianyue Demon King is likely dead," said the ethereal Immortal, summoning a jade fragment from afar and studying it briefly. "This is what remains of a Demon King's body after death."
Upon hearing this, the other Immortals were stunned—then their expressions darkened.
If even a Demon King was dead, this matter had become grave.
"Li Yi has become too powerful to kill."
Qingyuan Sword Immortal said coldly: "He has an ally as strong as a Demon King. My sect's Bai Xuan Sword Immortal fought him before—without aid, Li Yi nearly killed Bai Xuan. Had Feihong Immortal not intervened, that blow would have slain him."
"Gentlemen, understand this: Li Yi defeated a Sword Immortal."
He added.
In the Xuanxian Continent, Sword Immortals were unquestionably powerful, and Bai Xuan Sword Immortal of the Jade Sword Sect had already forged his True Immortal Sword—among peers, few could match him.
"It's clear now that pursuing Li Yi is unrealistic. We can't send True Immortals into the fray. Withdraw the bounty. He's too dangerous for us to handle." The ethereal Immortal paused, then spoke.
"Agreed. Let the Demon God Realm deal with him. For the sake of our sect's legacy, we must stop this madness." The other Immortals nodded in agreement.
Li Yi now possessed power on par with an Immortal—enough to make them change their stance.
Bountying a warrior who crushed a Sword Immortal was foolish. Many sects had no more than a handful of top-tier Immortals—like the Jade Sword Sect, which had only Bai Xuan, Qingyuan, and Yuanming. Losing any one would cripple the sect.
Sects with True Immortals as pillars were exceedingly rare.
"Notify the Demon God Realm of Tianyue Demon King's death. See how they react. If possible, let their Demon Kings handle Li Yi," said Qingyuan Sword Immortal.
Though this scheme of using another's blade was crude, the Demon Kings of the Demon God Realm would hardly sit idle as such a threat rose.
After brief discussion, the Immortals teleported away swiftly, leaving no trace—and not a single one entertained the thought of pursuing Li Yi. They returned immediately and revoked the bounty.
Li Yi would never have imagined the people of the Xuanxian Continent would be so cowardly—abandoning their vengeance, retreating into hiding.
