Chapter 830: Return to 36
At this moment, Li Yi sat atop a cloud of auspicious energy, rapidly distancing himself from the site of the previous battle; the death of the Heavenly Moon Demon King and his own enhanced strength had granted him a measure of security.
Nevertheless, for caution's sake, Li Yi still needed to temporarily leave Earth, to avoid further attacks—he favored traveling to the world of incense deification, where he could use incense power to help Master Jade Lotus's primordial spirit recover, and even ask those immortal maidens to restore her physical form; more importantly, the world of incense deification was still safe, and no one besides Li Yi knew its coordinates.
But before heading to the incense world, he had one more thing to do.
The auspicious cloud suddenly halted, floating high in the sky.
Li Yi retrieved the Immortal Dao warship from the Red Gold Five Elements Bracelet.
As a sci-fi-style warship appeared before him, the previously disconnected AI Hong Ji immediately reconnected to Earth's satellite signals.
He waited a moment in silence, then spoke: "Hong Ji."
"Hello, Master."
Hong Ji's voice rang out, and a projection of a woman with short red hair and a graceful figure materialized atop the white clouds—her smile sweet, deeply respectful.
Li Yi said: "Have you received any information from Earth's defense line?"
"Querying," Hong Ji replied. "Received one unknown signal. After verification, it is confirmed to be a world coordinate. Earth's defense line has labeled this world as Coordinate 36."
"It seems Zhao Yongshan kept his word," Li Yi thought to himself, then added: "Backup Coordinate 36, and input it into the Interdimensional Device."
He then took out ten Interdimensional Devices from the Five Elements Bracelet.
Each of these devices stored a coordinate of a world he had visited—these coordinates were precious, tied to his future.
"Backup completed," the AI Hong Ji immediately said.
"Good."
Li Yi immediately retracted the Immortal Dao warship and all but one of the Interdimensional Devices.
His gaze shifted slightly as he considered whether to visit Coordinate 36.
His last visit to Coordinate 36 had been years ago, when his realm was low and his strength weak—he had nearly died there after encountering a terrifying ghost; since then, Li Yi had developed a shadow around this world.
But Li Yi had to go to Coordinate 36 for a necessary reason.
His parents' souls had once crossed dimensions into Coordinate 36 and been targeted by ghosts; his father was lucky—his soul crossed back into the incense deification world, where he used incense power not only to recover but also to become the Divine Martial Emperor.
His mother, however, was not so fortunate—she was killed by the ghost.
But Yang Wei, who had once come from Coordinate 36, had said that reversing life and death with supernatural power was not difficult.
Because of those words, Li Yi had sought to obtain Coordinate 36's coordinates and return to that world to find a chance to resurrect his mother.
After brief thought,
Li Yi made his decision.
"Hong Ji, activate the Interdimensional Device—Coordinate 36." He immediately took three complete strange artifacts from the Five Elements Bracelet and placed them into the device.
"Understood, Master." As Hong Ji's voice responded, the Interdimensional Device activated.
The immense energy from the three artifacts converged into a brilliant beam of light, striking the sky before him.
Space shattered, a wormhole opened, and the interdimensional gate reappeared.
As energy stabilized and the coordinate locked, a sudden glow pierced the darkness—revealing a corner of Coordinate 36.
Without hesitation, Li Yi retracted his gear and stepped through the interdimensional gate before it closed.
He now remained suspended in the sky.
Beneath him stretched an ocean of clouds; in the distance, sunlight blazed brightly—this place seemed no different from his own world.
But the concentration of cosmic energy here was low, the sky showed no tears, and in the distance he even saw a passenger jet roaring through the clouds.
As the interdimensional gate closed, Li Yi suppressed his aura, retracted his Red Gold Battle Armor, and his nanotech clothing shifted into a normal sports hoodie.
In this world, he feared not enemies—but supernatural forces.
His weapons and armor were useless against supernatural forces, so there was no need to wear them constantly.
The only thing Li Yi possessed capable of countering the supernatural was a cracked short staff.
After completing these preparations, he descended through the clouds.
He had expected that after years, he would find the city deserted, supernatural forces rampant, everywhere lifeless—but when he arrived above a city, he discovered this was not the case.
Traffic surged, people bustled—clearly a scene of prosperity.
"Have the supernatural forces been resolved? Or are they still the same, merely maintaining a fragile balance?" Li Yi thought, but then a figure surfaced in his mind.
That man—Yang Jian—who had opened the interdimensional gate, struck across three worlds, and nearly split the Immortal Continent.
Yet even now, he could not understand: back then, Yang Jian had been just like him, delivering letters in the Ghost Post Office—even Li Yi, as a courier, had more seniority. How, after so short a time, had Yang Jian gained such power?
Though supernatural forces were like cheating at a game—utterly unreasonable—even cheating should have some logic. This man had surpassed all normal understanding.
"Last time, Yang Wei said all couriers from my batch were dead—but Liu Qingqing was still alive. I wonder if I'll see her again." Li Yi knew few people in this world; Liu Qingqing was one.
But no rush.
He needed to slowly understand the world's changes. Though his strength was now vastly superior, he still had to be cautious—his last courier mission had left deep psychological scars.
Soon,
Li Yi appeared in a city.
Dressed in a sports hoodie, he looked no different from ordinary people—except for the lightning patterns on his skin, which others would merely assume were tattoos, not anomalies.
He reached into his pocket.
He had no money.
Before leaving this world last time, he had given away all his cash.
But this time, Li Yi had learned—he still kept a golden coffin inside the Red Gold Five Elements Bracelet, sealed with a ghost. He found a secluded corner, pried off a small piece, then visited a gold shop and exchanged it for over a hundred thousand yuan.
With this money, Li Yi bought a phone and registered a number. Though phone registration required ID, in any world, if you had enough money, it was never a problem.
He did not deploy the Immortal Dao warship or activate the AI Hong Ji.
The supernatural forces here were strange—who knew if releasing the AI and hacking into global computers might let a ghost crawl through the signal?
If Hong Ji became tainted by the supernatural, it would be terrifying—Li Yi would forever have a ghost clinging to him.
After all, he had once been a courier who reached the third floor of the Ghost Post Office on his own merit—he still had the necessary vigilance.
So in this world, Li Yi's goal was to use no special means if possible, to act like an ordinary person—only then could he hide among the crowd, unseen by strange things.
Holding the phone, Li Yi tried dialing several numbers.
As an evolved being, he had perfect recall—he remembered clearly the numbers of people he'd known years ago—but all showed as disconnected.
It seemed Yang Wei had not lied—Guo You was indeed dead.
He then tried dialing Liu Qingqing's number.
To Li Yi's surprise, the call connected—but no one answered. Either the owner hadn't heard, or was not nearby.
But as a former teammate, Li Yi sent a text: "I'm Li Yi. If you receive this, call me back."
He then dialed another number.
This was Zheng Yaoyao's number.
Long ago, Li Yi had stayed temporarily in Zheng Yaoyao's apartment, and she had helped him. When he left Coordinate 36, he left her a sum of money—if she hadn't been caught in supernatural events, she should be living well now.
After a moment, the call was answered.
"Hello, who is this?" A woman's voice came through.
"Is this Zheng Yaoyao?" Li Yi said.
"Yes, who are you?" Zheng Yaoyao asked, puzzled—this was an unknown number, yet the voice felt strangely familiar.
"It's Li Yi. I didn't expect you to still be alive."
Li Yi?
Zheng Yaoyao froze. A vivid memory surged into her mind—though years had passed, she would never forget that otherworldly visitor who leapt across rooftops and moved like the wind.
"Li Yi? Is it really you? You're back!" She burst out, excited: "When did you return? Where are you now? Where have you been these past years? Did you go train some legendary martial art?"
Though Zheng Yaoyao was no longer the naive young graduate of before, whenever Li Yi was involved, she still became wildly emotional.
"I came to this world on some business, and wanted to check if the people I knew were still alive. You sound energetic—looks like you're doing well."
"Of course I am! I've been full of energy every day—probably because of that golden nutritional liquid you gave me."
After drinking the golden nutritional liquid Li Yi had left, she had benefited immensely—her sleep improved, her skin glowed, her energy soared, and many relatives and friends envied her condition.
"By the way, Li Yi, where are you now? Let me come find you. We haven't seen each other in so long—we should meet up. Please don't refuse. I'm begging you."
"Alright, but don't come to me—I'll come to you."
"That's great! I still live in Dazhuang City." Zheng Yaoyao gave her address, then waited eagerly for Li Yi's arrival.
