Chapter 303

~7 min read 1,388 words

Mu Xin looked at her sister, whose eyes held only Jiang Liangjin, her tone tinged with a hint of grievance: "Dear, why are you ignoring me?"

Lu Yuchu took a deep breath, then replied: "Don't be angry, she didn't even acknowledge me."

Song Yan placed his hand on his shoulder, "How pitiful."

Mu Nian had nothing to say.

Qing An chuckled: "You guys don't need to quarrel, the sister is just feeling a bit better..."

Ignoring her is even better; if we first attend to one brother, later we'll start competing.

Mu Xianqi reached out and pinched Qing An hard, eyes flashing a warning; Qing An immediately shut his mouth.

""

Jiang Liangjin had already arrived before her, reaching out to straighten her askew scarf: "Feeling better?"

Mu Youyu immediately lifted her gaze, grabbed his wrist hanging at his side and shook it, her little face full of excitement: "Much better!"

The thoughts she had suppressed all day due to illness now burst forth: "Let's go out and play!"

As soon as she said that, everyone's eyes in the living room snapped onto the two of them.

Mu Nian spoke first, tone worried: "Baby, you're just a bit better; it's raining and cold outside—what if you get chilled again?"

Mu Xin also chimed in: "Spending New Year's at home is just as good; Qing Ma prepared your favorite desserts and fireworks—we can set them off in the yard."

Mainly I want to spend it together with my sister.

Mu Xi, who has spent several New Years with her sister, wasn't being greedy; she said in a low voice: "The private doctor is still here—let him examine her again first, make sure there's no problem before we talk about going out."

Mu Xianqi then walked to Mu Youyu's side, gently ruffling her hair: "Everywhere is crowded for New Year's; better to stay home, brothers will keep you company, and we'll prepare whatever you want."

Qing An came over holding Nuomi, placing the warm little milk cat into her arms: "See, Nuomi doesn't want you to go out; staying home to play with it would be wonderful."

Mu Youyu held Nuomi, didn't throw a tantrum, just turned her head to look at Jiang Liangjin: "A Jin, I just want to go to the downtown New Year's square with you—we made that plan last week."

He raised his hand and gently pinched her cheek: "I remember, I'll take you there."

""

As soon as those words landed, Mu Nian immediately grew anxious: "A Jin, she's just gotten over her cold—she can't be exposed to wind and rain!"

"Big brother, I've arranged everything." Jiang Liangjin lifted his gaze to the crowd, tone calm: "The rain has stopped now; the car is climate‑controlled, from the door straight to the plaza's underground parking lot—no wind will blow on us the whole way."

"The viewing platform at the plaza I've reserved has heating, so it won't be cold."

"I've already notified the doctor; he'll follow the convoy and can do a check‑up anytime."

"The bodyguards will stay close the whole time; there won't be any accidents."

Mu Nian pondered a moment, looking at his sister's hopeful eyes, then relented: "Since A Jin has everything arranged, you may go—keep the bodyguards close, and contact us immediately if anything happens."

Mu Xin no longer objected, only reminding: "Remember to take your medicine on time, keep hot drinks with you, and don't run off."

Mu Xianqi took a black card from his pocket and shoved it into Mu Youyu's hand: "Buy whatever you want, don't hold yourself back; when you've had enough fun, call a brother and I'll come pick you up."

Qing An slipped the prepared hand warmer into her pocket: "Take it, keep it handy, don't let your hands freeze."

Lu Yuchu and Song Yan looked at the sister; the former said: "Baby, do you want to bring us along?"

Mu Youyu shook her head: "If you go, you'll cause a stir; then the crowd will be too thick and it won't be fun."

Hearing that, everyone could only relent.

Alright, it looks like nobody intends to bring anyone along.

Everyone knows the sister's thoughts; for this New Year's outing, she's been muttering about it since a week ago, her heart and eyes set on going with Jiang Liangjin.

Mu Xi turned and went to the kitchen, asking Qing Ma to fill a thermal bucket with hot porridge and desserts.

And all the little snacks Mu Youyu loves were shoved into Jiang Liangjin's hands: "Give her these on the road so she doesn't go hungry; the medicine is in there too—remember to remind her to take it."

Mu Youyu watched everyone bustling to prepare things for her, her little face full of smiles, she sweetly told them: "Brothers are the best, I love you all!"

That one sentence made the previous unpleasantness—because she only clung to Jiang Liangjin—vanish like smoke, leaving everyone filled only with affection for her.

Mu Youyu tugged Jiang Liangjin's hand and shook it, eager: "Let's hurry up and go!"

The two were seen to the door by everyone, under the reluctant and worried gazes of all, Jiang Liangjin opened the car door.

First he helped Mu Youyu into the back seat, then placed the thermal bucket and hand warmer beside her, then sat next to her and fastened her seat belt.

The cabin temperature had been set earlier; the car smoothly drove out of the Mu residence. Mu Youyu finished her porridge, leaned back against the seat, and scrolled through Jiang Liangjin's phone.

"Why do half of your contacts have Do Not Disturb on? There are so many red dots—I feel like tapping them away."

"A bunch of uncles, plus Third Uncle, Fourth Uncle, and Xiao Ting's are at the top; from the outside they look like sent emojis..."

Jiang Liangjin turned his head to look at her, tone casual: "If someone sends too many messages I mute them; you can tap them away if you want, no problem."

"He habitually blocks people who send too many useless messages; anyway it's no big deal, though occasionally he'll still open them to reply."

"Tapping them away is fine too."

"As long as he doesn't miss her messages."

Mu Youyu laughed, put the phone down: "Never mind. What should we do first? It's only half past six."

Jiang Liangjin raised his hand to ruffle her hair, voice gentle: "Whatever you want, I've had the wish plaques prepared in advance."

"Okay, then let's go make wishes first, then get something tasty to eat..."

The car arrived at the plaza's underground parking lot; Jiang Liangjin got out first, went around to the back seat and opened the door.

He reached out to shield her head and helped her out of the car.

He then adjusted the scarf around her face before taking her hand and walking toward the elevator entrance.

The plaza was packed with people; Jiang Liangjin constantly kept Mu Youyu at his side, while the bodyguards stood nearby to separate the crowd from the two of them.

Just as they reached the wish‑plaque area, a group of girls swarmed over.

The leading girl, her face flushed, looked at the two masked figures, covered her mouth in excitement: "Oh my! Artist Name Yue Shu, can I get an autograph? And a photo together!"

"Me too!"

Mu Youyu, seeing that there was still time, agreed to both.

She took the pen the girl passed her and wrote her pen name on the signing board.

She also, in response to everyone's request, drew simple versions of Lin Yushi and Ye Yuan little figures beside each signature, her brushstrokes lively.

Jiang Liangjin waited patiently.

Several people thanked her and said a few nice words, making Mu Youyu a little embarrassed.

The last girl with twin tails took the signature, smiling and saying, "Thank you, Artist Name Yue Shu, wishing you and Young Master Jiang forever!"

Jiang Liangjin heard this, a hint of satisfaction flashing in their eyes.

Mu Youyu didn't explain, her Smile unchanged, and curiously asked, "Is there anything good to eat around here?"

The girl immediately pointed ahead: "About a kilometer that way there's a cake shop; their strawberry mousse, ice cream puffs, mini cakes, and cheese tarts are all super delicious, they're the internet-famous kind!"
