Chapter 25: , First Love vs. Current Girlfriend

~7 min read 1,362 words

The moment the words left his mouth, Zhang Xian immediately realized he had said the wrong thing.

But then again, it wasn't really his fault—Chu Yourong was his girlfriend in name, so if she were staying over, sleeping in the same room as him was perfectly reasonable, right?

Yet both of them knew the reality: even if Chu Yourong agreed to stay, she would never share a room with him.

"That won't do!"

"Yourong and I already agreed—she's sleeping in my room tonight."

Before Chu Yourong could speak, Zhang Pandi quickly jumped in, teasing with a grin: "You two can spare one night, can't you?"

"If it really won't work, sleep with me for the first half of the night, and with him for the second half..."

"Fifth Sister~!"

"I'm not sleeping with Zhang Xian!"

Chu Yourong called out "Fifth Sister" with a touch of shyness. After this one meal, the title was rolling off her tongue more and more naturally.

"I was just asking casually—you two go ahead and sleep!"

Zhang Xian quickly waved his hands, then turned and stepped out of his family's small courtyard, heading to the convenience store at the alley entrance to buy toiletries for Chu Yourong.

When he came out of the store with his purchases, he saw in the distance Liu Dongxu sneakily pulling Wang Jiajia into the back seat of a Tesla.

A moment later, the car started moving...

The next day.

Zhang Xian didn't get to sleep in.

Because Chu Yourong had booked a wedding-photo shoot, he was forced to get up at seven to wash up.

"It's just a photo shoot, not the real thing—does it really have to be this early?"

Stepping out of his family's small courtyard, Zhang Xian complained between yawns.

"You have to do makeup before the shoot—makeup, you understand? For me alone it could take two or three hours!"

"What a hassle."

Zhang Xian stretched lazily.

"You didn't say it was a hassle when you were collecting the money!" Chu Yourong shot back.

Just as the two were bickering, the "NPC" Liu Fusheng respawned at their front door.

"Xiaoxian, why are you up so early today?"

Though Liu Fusheng was speaking to Zhang Xian, his eyes were on Chu Yourong. The girl had come out of the Zhang Family's place first thing in the morning—she had clearly spent the night there.

But that wasn't what shocked Liu Fusheng the most. What shocked him was Chu Yourong's looks. Yesterday, when Zhang Xian brought her back on his little electric scooter, she had been wearing a mask and a sun hat, so her face was hidden and he had no idea what she looked like.

Now, without the mask or the sun hat, her delicate and exquisite features were fully on display. Liu Fusheng's eyes went wide—twice their normal size—even though Liu Dongxu had told him that Zhang Xian had landed a celebrity girlfriend.

But Liu Fusheng hadn't taken it seriously at all. If she were really some big star, how could she possibly be dating Zhang Xian? So instinctively he had assumed this so-called celebrity was the obscure, no-name type, just like Zhang Dongshan had been.

Now he didn't know whether she was famous or not, but one thing was certain—her looks were undeniable, more beautiful than any star he'd seen on TV.

How on earth did this kid Zhang Xian trick such a gorgeous wife into his hands??

A giant question mark popped up in Liu Fusheng's head.

"Grandpa Liu, I'm off to make some money."

At that moment, Zhang Xian gave his reply.

Hearing him say that, Chu Yourong instinctively rolled her eyes. His answer made it sound as though taking wedding photos with her was some kind of miserable chore.

"Make money?"

"Then you'd better work hard!"

Liu Fusheng gave a slight shake of his head, silently muttering to himself: Make money, my foot. If you really had that kind of drive, you wouldn't have been lying around at home for so long.

The "Time Imprint" photography studio.

It was a high-end photography company.

Specializing in wedding-photo shoots.

Chu Yourong's assistant, Sun Yuanyuan, had already booked the photographer and the shoot time in advance.

When the two arrived, the studio's owner, Tian Dan, personally came out to greet them.

Although their studio catered to a high-end clientele, they had never taken on a shoot for a major celebrity like Chu Yourong.

And a wedding-photo shoot at that—it would give their studio's development a massive boost.

From now on, when the marketing staff pitched clients, they could hold up Chu Yourong as an example.

"Please head to the makeup room first, you two!"

"Ms. Chu, I'm your makeup artist today. If you have any requests, just let me know."

When Time Imprint first started out, it was just Tian Dan and her husband—she was the makeup artist, and her husband was the photographer.

Now Time Imprint had grown to a certain scale and enjoyed a solid reputation and name recognition in the industry, so Tian Dan, the veteran makeup artist and owner, only served important clients herself.

As she spoke, Tian Dan had already led the two into the makeup room.

At that moment, a woman was sitting on the sofa in the makeup room, looking down at her phone. Hearing the door open, she quickly stood up.

"Mr. Zhang, this is Lin Xiwei, a renowned makeup artist in our industry."

"Your styling today will be handled by her."

Tian Dan introduced her with a smile.

However, the moment Zhang Xian laid eyes on this makeup artist, he froze on the spot.

"Zhang Xian??"

Lin Xiwei was stunned for a moment too, then called out Zhang Xian's name.

"Xiwei, you know Mr. Zhang?"

Tian Dan looked between the two, somewhat surprised.

"Uh, we're... classmates."

When describing the relationship between the two, Lin Xiwei had an obvious pause.

At this moment Zhang Xian also came back to his senses. What Lin Xiwei said was right — the two of them really were classmates, only, besides this one layer of relationship as classmates, the two also had another layer of relationship.

They were each other's first love!

And Lin Xiwei was precisely that girl whom Liu Dongxu had also liked, but whom Zhang Xian had "stolen right out from under him."

Their romance had lasted from high school all the way to freshman year of college — three years in total.

The reason for their breakup wasn't anything melodramatic; it was simply because of the long distance, and added to that, back then both of them were still very young and easily swayed by emotions. After one big argument, they really did break up.

Later, Zhang Xian got another girlfriend in college, and the two of them lost contact.

Regarding news of Lin Xiwei, Zhang Xian had heard it all from his high school classmates. The last time he heard any news of Lin Xiwei was that she had gone to Yangcheng to develop her career.

Now the two of them had run into each other in Beijing.

"Of all things, classmates — this world really is too small!"

Tian Dan laughed heartily and gave voice to the sentiment.

Chu Yourong, off to the side, curiously sized up this classmate of Zhang Xian's. A woman's intuition told her that the relationship between the two was definitely not as simple as ordinary classmates, because the expressions on both their faces just now had been very off.

"Yeah, this world really is small!"

Zhang Xian chimed in, then turned to Lin Xiwei and asked, "I heard you went to Yangcheng — when did you come back?"

"Been back half a year."

When Lin Xiwei replied, she couldn't help glancing toward Chu Yourong. Yesterday the boss lady Tian Dan had excitedly told her that the shop had landed the wedding-photo shoot job for Chu Yourong.

In order to serve this big star well, Lin Xiwei had arrived at the shop early and done thorough preparation work.

But who would have thought — the man who was going to take wedding photos with this big star was actually her own first love!
