Zhang Xian is a self-proclaimed 'lay-flat' youth who prefers a life of leisure over the grind of the modern workforce. His life takes a sudden turn when he awakens a 'Number One Lying Flat Assistant' system. This unique system rewards Zhang Xian with double the earnings of his family members' hard work, incentivizing him to help his struggling father—a former folk singer turned livestreamer—achieve success.

As Zhang Xian navigates his daily life, caring for his intellectually disabled third sister and managing his father's newfound popularity, he discovers that his path to a comfortable life involves elevating his entire family. By providing his father with hit songs and managing his career from behind the scenes, Zhang Xian transforms from an unemployed slacker into the secret mastermind behind his family's rise to fame and fortune. Balancing his desire for a relaxed lifestyle with the demands of his system, Zhang Xian finds that supporting his family is the most rewarding 'job' he has ever had.
