Chapter 2: You've stolen all the bamboo shoots

~7 min read 1,214 words

"Friday." Su Quan called out after closing the safe.

Light and shadow flickered, and a holographic image of a young girl appeared before him.

This was the artificial intelligence created by Iron Man Tony Stark, which took over Jarvis's work after Jarvis was destroyed by Ultron and eventually transformed into Vision.

Obviously, this was also something Su Quan had scavenged in the Void!

"Good evening, Boss." Friday greeted Su Quan with a sweet voice. ===== CHAPTER 4 =====

This version of Friday was more human than the one in the movies, and compared to Jarvis, she was no less capable, and she even had her own unique holographic image that Jarvis lacked.

"Any situation?"

"Everything is normal."

Su Quan nodded and then asked: "How is the person I asked you to investigate?"

"Isaiah Bradley, Super Soldier Serum recipient, codename: Captain America. Current residence: Baltimore, Maryland."

Friday pulled up a holographic map, marking the detailed location and the target's real-time whereabouts.

"Jessica Campbell, currently known as Jessica Campbell Jones, lives in Midtown Manhattan with her adoptive sister, Patricia Trish Walker."

The holographic map also displayed the marked detailed location and her real-time whereabouts.

Somewhat unexpectedly, the red dot representing her real-time location was nearby; to be precise, on the same street.

"Luke Lucas..." Friday continued to report the investigation results without pausing.

Su Quan interrupted: "No need to report the others for now."

He wanted to become stronger and gain more abilities, but there weren't many targets to choose from at the moment.

Bruce Banner hadn't turned into the Hulk yet, Tony Stark hadn't become Iron Man, and the future Scarlet Witch, Wanda, was still just a thirteen or fourteen-year-old child.

Besides, to deal with the Time Variance Authority, power-based melee combat was the first choice.

Because magic is forbidden in the Time Variance Authority; even the Infinity Stones can only be used as paperweights or left to gather dust in a drawer there!

However, the Time Keepers responsible for capturing time criminals and maintaining the security of the Time Variance Authority were all ordinary people.

They were all former time criminals who, after being captured, had their brains washed, their original identities forgotten, and their memories tampered with, suddenly becoming guards who capture time criminals.

On the home turf of the Time Variance Authority, those who play with magic or energy are not necessarily more threatening than ordinary field agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Outside their home turf, the Time Keepers rely mainly on equipment.

Weapons that prune you to the Void upon impact, controllers that can travel to any timeline and location in the multiverse, time collars that prevent targets from escaping, timeline resetters, and so on—

Relying on these devices, they can wantonly prune time criminals and branched timelines.

What if the opponent is too strong to beat?

If you can't beat them, don't fight.

Just prune the timeline branch, reset the timeline, and you can solve the opponent without anyone knowing!

Returning to the topic, Su Quan, having collected his thoughts, had already arrived outside and saw Jessica Jones arguing with a blonde girl on the side of the road in front of a bar not far away.

Unfortunately, the blonde girl was her "sister" Trish Walker, so no matter how fierce the argument was, they wouldn't resort to violence, leaving no chance for him to be a bystander and gain a drop reward.

"You know what? Jess, I'm proud of myself tonight, even if you don't think so."

Trish Walker looked at her with dissatisfaction and turned to get into the car to leave: "If you don't want to come, that's fine; I'm going to be with my friends."

"You think they're your friends? They're just leeches, they just want to suck your money, your drinks, your food." Jessica Jones didn't want her to get lost and degenerate in such vanity.

But this annoyed Trish Walker, who was already worked up, and she retorted directly: "Aren't you? Why don't you pay your own tuition?"

Jessica Jones looked at her in surprise: "Because you insisted on helping me pay."

Trish Walker: "And pay your own damn rent, instead of mooching off mine."

Jessica Jones was also worked up by what was said and retorted anxiously: "Do you think I need you? Do you think I can't get what I want?"

"I don't need anything from you!"

Jessica Jones turned and strode toward the automatic teller machine nearby, easily pulling it open and taking out the money inside.

Seeing this, Trish Walker looked helpless.

"Look, it's all done." Jessica Jones held up the money to show off to her.

"Great, that's just great, don't call me when you get arrested and need bail!"

"And don't call me when you overdose and need to go to the hospital."

Jessica Jones retorted tit-for-tat, but Trish Walker didn't want to say anything more, shaking her head and getting into the car.

"Bang!"

The car door closed, and the car drove away.

"Damn it!"

Jessica Jones cursed in a low, weak voice, squatting down to pick up the scattered money.

As she was picking it up, a pair of feet stopped in front of her. Looking up, it was an Asian boy with short, messy hair, looking a bit cool and rascally.

Su Quan glanced at the boy holding a beer bottle across the street. This scene was in Jessica Jones's personal show; the two of them started becoming boyfriend and girlfriend from here.

This guy was a scumbag, later hammered to death by her mother-in-law, Jessica Jones's mother.

"Why argue? Can't you just calmly give each other a few slaps?" Su Quan said lightly, his tone—full of regret.

Jessica Jones: ???

When I put out a '?', it's not that I have a problem, but that I think you have a problem!

"She's my only family." Jessica Jones was a bit angry.

"Not anymore."

Jessica Jones almost couldn't help but ask him, are you polite?

You've stolen all the bamboo shoots!

Su Quan blinked, your biological mother is still alive, isn't that unexpected, isn't that a surprise?

He looks quite handsome, but his personality is so nasty—

Jessica Jones got up, put the money back into the automatic teller machine, forcefully pressed the pulled-open part together, and turned to leave.

"Hey."

"What?" Jessica Jones turned her head to look.

Su Quan pointed to the sign of [Where-It-All-Goes Express Logistics Company, New York Branch] not far away and asked with a smile: "A job that provides food and housing, want to do it?"

Jessica Jones looked at the company sign, then at Su Quan, and nodded decisively, being bold because of her high skill: "I'll do it!"
