Chapter 506: Blink, Thunderbird, Polaris! (First update, please subscribe!)

~7 min read 1,265 words

The girl held her breath and looked around, but the empty, dim workshop was clear at a glance, with no figure in sight.

Where, where were they?

"On your side, how many years do you get for sending a message?"

Just as the girl was looking around in confusion, that person spoke again.

This time she heard it clearly; the voice came from above.

The girl looked up subconsciously and saw a huge silver long-blade floating eerily above her head. A man was sitting on the blade, his dangling feet swaying, looking extremely comfortable.

The girl first let out a sigh of relief—the other party's posture was so strange, they probably weren't police—then she asked nervously: "Who... who are you?"

"It is the breeze, the sunset glow, the heartbeat, the irreplaceable," the man on the blade said leisurely.

The girl was speechless. Are you sick?

I just asked who you were; why are you talking about breezes and sunsets?

There was wind, but it was the cold wind of a rainy night.

Sunset glow?

The sun had set long ago; let alone a sunset glow, there wasn't even a moon or stars today.

The girl took a deep breath: "Can you come down?"

"No!"

"Why?"

"Because the most important thing in life is to have a good posture. My current posture is very good; it's just right for listening to the whispers of the wind and clouds, and watching the glittering stars in the sky."

Fucking moron!

The girl rolled her emerald eyes fiercely and gave up on communicating with this weirdo who couldn't communicate normally.

"Watch it slowly then, goodbye!" After saying this, the girl turned around, ready to leave.

"May you be safe, happy, and get what you wish for."

"Goodbye."

The girl stopped and turned back to look at the man high above. A smile hung on his face, and his eyes overflowed with gentleness.

At the moment their eyes met, she felt inexplicably moved.

"You're a mutant too, right? My name is Clarice, what about you?"

"Su Quan."

"You..." Clarice hesitated, then gritted her teeth secretly: "It's dangerous for you to be alone like this. Do you want to... come with me?"

Su Quan's expression was a bit odd. This invitation obviously couldn't be because she had fallen for him, so that meant...

She thought I was sick?

To put it politely, she thought I was mentally unstable?

Uh, thinking about the things he had just said, it did seem a bit weird?

He was just feeling a little excited and giddy; after all, there were several people in this world he was interested in.

However, it didn't matter.

People have a thousand faces, and there's always a side that's a bit off. When he was in a good mood, wasn't he allowed to be a little whimsical?

Besides, hadn't she just asked him to follow her? If he had been his usual serious self, would she have dared?

"Someone's coming."

"Where?"

Clarice waved at Su Quan in a panic: "Quick... let's run... you remember, don't ever, ever get caught by the police, otherwise..."

"Bang!"

A loud noise interrupted her. Judging by the sound, it seemed like something heavy had hit the ground.

"Run!"

Clarice shouted, looking left and right for another escape route.

A man and a woman walked in.

Seeing Clarice trying to escape, she hurriedly raised her hands to show she had no malicious intent.

"Don't be nervous, we just want to talk."

"Pop!"

Clarice picked up a glass bottle from the ground and threw it at them. The man ducked quickly to avoid it, and the bottle fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.

"Wait, I..."

"Pop!"

Another glass bottle was thrown over.

See? This was Clarice's reaction to strangers. She was a hedgehog; regardless of kindness or malice, as long as you got close, she would prick you!

If Su Quan hadn't shown his abilities and hadn't been acting weird, those glass bottles would probably have been used to hit him long ago; they wouldn't have just shattered now.

There was only one glass bottle left, and Clarice held it in her hand, not throwing it.

"Calm down." A woman with long, straight black hair and a jacket said to her with a smile.

"Are you with the police?" Clarice didn't put down the bottle, nor did she relax her vigilance.

"We aren't police, and we aren't with the police," the man explained: "We heard you escaped from the mutant detention center, so we came to find you."

Clarice shook her head in confusion: "I don't understand, who are you?"

"Whoosh—"

A metal pipe on the ground behind Clarice swept past her and landed in the jacket-wearing girl's hand.

A faint green magnetic glow swayed slightly on her hand.

"Just like you, just a few freaks," the jacket-wearing girl said, her lips curling up with a hint of defiance.

They were mutants!

Clarice let out a sigh of relief and lowered her hand.

"My name is John Proudstar, you can call me John," the man also let out a sigh of relief and introduced himself with a smile: "She is Lorna Dane, you can call her Lorna."

"I... my name is Clarice, Clarice Fong!"

"My friend is named Su Quan."

John and Lorna were stunned upon hearing this and subconsciously looked around; there was no one else here besides them.

Clarice looked up, and they followed her gaze, then... they froze.

There was someone in mid-air!

There was a blade in mid-air!

No, it was a person sitting on a blade floating in mid-air!

How was this possible?

Whether it was John or Lorna, neither of them had noticed this person!

Especially John; he was best at searching and tracking, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to find this place precisely just by knowing the news about Clarice.

Yet he hadn't sensed this person's existence at all!

"Hey, why are you hiding and not speaking?" Lorna asked curiously.

Hello, Miss Polaris.

Su Quan gave a brilliant smile and chuckled: "The doctor said I have low blood sugar and need a few sweet words."

???

Lorna's eyes widened slightly, her lips twitched, and she said to Clarice with a smile: "Your friend... is very interesting..."

Clarice grinned; what could she say? She was helpless too.

"Whoosh—"

Su Quan leaped down from the blade and landed in front of Lorna.

Close at hand, eyes meeting.

Lorna's gaze was sharp and aggressive; the feeling of someone who only advanced and never retreated was very strong.

Su Quan waved his hand, and the silver long-blade in mid-air flew down with a *whoosh*, blowing Lorna's hair.

She didn't even blink.

Su Quan leaned on the blade and said with a smile: "I like you!"

"Too bad you aren't my type."

Lorna glanced down at his blade and reached behind her with a smile.

"Hum—"

Green magnetic energy flashed, but the silver long-blade didn't budge under Su Quan's hand.

Lorna's expression changed; she strengthened the magnetic field and pulled again.

The silver long-blade still didn't move.

"Impossible... this blade of yours..."

"There is no standard for aesthetics; what I love is high-class."

Su Quan slowly raised his hand, and a mass of identical green magnetic energy lit up. Immediately after, all the metal magnetic fields on Lorna were controlled, pulling her directly in front of Su Quan.

Truly close at hand!

Su Quan looked at her shocked little expression and asked with a smile: "Now? Am I your type now?"
