Chapter 113: Releasing the Punished Tribe Members
This made Nan Qinghuan very displeased; she pursed her lips and coughed, "I'm only stating reason, I didn't speak for anyone."
Rongdi's sharp gaze fixed on her; under the moonlight Nan Qinghuan in a white robe looked ethereal like a Goddess, and his night‑vision eyes could see through her even without moonlight.
It must be said, she is a female that any male would want to conquer and cherish; though her body is petite, within that small frame lies power that can destroy heaven and earth.
She is Heaven's Daughter who knows the Four Directions and Five Elements, yet he still wants to possess her, just for that unique beauty.
Nan Qinghuan saw Rongdi remain silent and was about to ask something else, when the old wild man anxiously asked, "Ou Mu, what should we do now?"
Several tribe members were terrified by the Wolf Clansman just now; if they stay here any longer they will die, and Rongdi won't protect them forever.
Nan Qinghuan also knew how to resolve it; she looked at the old wild man and said, "Rongdi is right, the wolves will come again. You should return to the Tribe; leaving here will be safe."
The tribe members also wanted to leave, but… the old wild man let out a deep sigh, his face withered and rough as bark, "Leave? Yet we have not received Ying's permission; if we go back we will…"
"No, now the Tribe is not lacking food; there are sweet potatoes, potatoes, and pickled meat to eat, you won't go hungry. I believe after being punished for several months you have already paid the penalty. Go back, work with the Tribe to plant sweet potatoes and live a good life."
"Sweet potatoes? Potatoes? Pickled meat?"
The tribe members naturally didn't know what those were, looking at her expectantly; Nan Qinghuan didn't want to explain further, "Don't ask. You'll find out when you return. I will escort you to the forest's edge; leave early."
The old wild man was very grateful to her; guilt over his attack on her weighed on his heart—if not for her and Rongdi tonight, they would have been dead.
"Ou Mu, what about you? Aren't you going back?"
Several tribe members looked at her expectantly, wondering if she would leave. Nan Qinghuan gave a bitter smile, glanced around, and said, "I'm not going back. Take care."
She didn't even know whether the tribe members understood her words; they exchanged glances, then reluctantly departed.
After escorting the tribe members out of the Misty Forest, Rongdi glanced at a golden light streaking across the sky; dawn had arrived.
"You released them all; Ying won't let you go unpunished."
Nan Qinghuan merely gave him a glance, unfazed, "Anyway I'm not returning; I'll live out my days without any contact. See what he can do to me?"
"Live out your days without contact?"
Rongdi understood the remark; he strode over, bowed slightly, and blew on her face in a friendly manner.
"Really gone? Then come with me to the Mountain Tribe. My tribe needs your help—make us tasty Salt, cultivate those sweet foods. As long as you help enlarge my tribe, I'll give you whatever you want. Nan Qinghuan, think it over."
Nan Qinghuan knew Rongdi wanted to take her to the Mountain Tribe, but she could not go; even if she were stranded in this ancient land, she would build her own Kingdom with her own hands.
Without relying on any man.
Rongdi had harmed her and Ying not long ago; his rampant ambition to conquer all Tribes is so outrageous he could think it up with his toes. She would never fall for his scheme!
She gently turned her face away, coldly refusing, "Even though you saved me, I won't go with you to the Mountain Tribe. I have my own Tribe; have you forgotten?"
Rongdi, seeing her earnest expression, hadn't expected her to return to the Cannibal Tribe, "That Tribe has so few people; what can you do if you go back? Better help me return and achieve our hegemony."
Nan Qinghuan lifted her head, looking up at Rongdi; in his eyes she saw conquest and desire. Indeed, this man's ambition was as great as Ying's.
"That's your hegemony, not mine. Rongdi, you saved me; I will do you a favor. If you ever have trouble, come to me and I will see it done. I'm leaving."
Leaving that remark, she turned to head toward the Misty Forest. She had just seen the Wolf Clansman wield a very strange weapon and wanted to investigate. As she tried to turn away, Rongdi suddenly stepped forward, reached out, and blocked her, "Stop."
She was startled but halted. Though she lacked height advantage, her aura matched his. Raising her head, she met Rongdi's gaze, "Do you intend to kill me here, or beat me unconscious with a club and take me back?"
These wild men were quite brutish; she had already guessed his reckless intent, but she had prepared Pepper Water ready to serve him at any moment.
Rongdi saw the disgust and wariness in her eyes, which made him feel uneasy; he took a step back, seemingly afraid of frightening her, and asked meaningfully, "Do I seem as barbaric to you as Ying?"
She pursed her lips; Rongdi actually called Ying barbaric? "You all are almost equally barbaric. Move aside, stop following me."
Rongdi cleared a path but remained unsatisfied, "Let me escort you to the Cannibal Tribe; you would be in great danger alone."
Nan Qinghuan, however, was confident; she shook the Pepper Water in her hand, and Rongdi, seeing the Pepper Water, looked somewhat frightened, clearly wary of it.
Last time he almost had his eyes blinded by that thing.
Nan Qinghuan, seeing his wary expression, suddenly smiled; her laugh rang like a bronze bell, "Don't be afraid. I don't intend to deal with you. Since you're scared of those werewolves, they will be scared too. I'm leaving."
This time, after she left, Rongdi made no further attempt to stop her, watching helplessly as she entered the Misty Forest and gradually vanished from his sight.
A wind blew, rustling, and the birds in the forest suddenly fled in all directions; an instinct told Rongdi that a big creature had entered the forest.
With a splash, Ji Nü suddenly appeared behind him, "Leader, Ying's party has already caught up."
Rongdi let out a wicked grin upon hearing Ying's arrival, turned toward the forest exit, "He's quick this time; did he also believe that rumor?"
"He believed it; he's come to chase Nan Qinghuan."
Ji Nü truly couldn't understand what was so special about Nan Qinghuan. Wasn't she just the one who made Salt and could grow sweet potatoes? Heaven's Daughter—just because she's Heaven's Daughter, the leader is obsessed with her? And Ying—knowing that Nan Qinghuan belongs to the leader, why does he still pursue her? She didn't want Rongdi's tribe and Ying's tribe to clash; they had barely achieved peace, all because of a single female deemed unworthy.
Upon hearing that Ying was already in pursuit, Rongdi grinned, "Perfect timing. Let Ying know Nan Qinghuan followed me; what do you think he'll do?"
"Leader, what do you intend to do?"
"Spread the word that Nan Qinghuan has been taken by me; where will he go looking for people?"
He wanted Ying to chase a phantom; by pursuing Nan Qinghuan and accompanying her in everything she wishes, perhaps she would then walk with him.
Willingly walk.
For the first time, Rongdi didn't want to force her; he wanted her to be willing, just as she had once willingly followed Ying.
At high noon, the sun blazed fiercely.
The mist inside the forest hadn't fully cleared; when Ying arrived at the Misty Forest, it was still a veil of white fog, obscuring everything.
He, shirtless, leapt down from the Mammoth's back, "Dashan, Ji Lei, go in immediately and search; dig three feet into the ground if needed to find them."
Ji Lei, seeing he had rushed all the way, hurriedly handed him a bamboo tube, "Ying, you must be tired; have some water first."
"No, go in and find her."
Ying looked extremely irritable and angry; even his handsome features twisted. He descended and rushed toward the Misty Forest. Just as he was about to enter, he suddenly noticed… someone atop the trees.
A cold glint flashed in his eyes, "Knock him down for me."
Ji Lei lifted the Bow and arrow, aimed at a person in the tree, and fired. With an "Ah!" the hidden person fell from the tree; the Long Arrow pierced his abdomen, blood gushing instantly.
The man, struck in the abdomen, clutched his belly and begged repeatedly, "Spare me, spare me."
Ji Lei, realizing the person was from the Mountain Tribe, looked up at Ying with admiration, "Ying, you're truly impressive; how did you know he was hiding in the tree?"
