Chapter 139: Burning the Squid
Hummmm!!!
The sky jellyfish emitted a violent, deep rumbling; its transparent bell rippled, causing the glass on skyscrapers to shatter in response. The massive roar made everyone in the convoy’s skin tingle, inducing a crushing sense of dread as if overwhelmed by a colossal force!
“Run! Don’t slow down! Watch the track towers! Stay in formation! Everyone else, shoot that beast!”
Xu Jin shouted, and the Gatling gun on the truck aimed upward toward the sky.
Doooom!!!!!!
Bullets rained down as countless armed personnel from the convoy opened their windows and fired at the colossal creature above.
Taptaptaptaptap!
“It’s coming!”
At this moment, the train and convoy had reached the elevated highway; on the “Infinity,” Sasha in Car 7 shouted into the radio.
The horizon seemed darkened by a vast shadow—the enormous sky jellyfish surged directly toward the convoy, its countless tentacles sweeping across the tracks.
Boom!
An SUV was Buxing swept up and flung into the track wall, crashing violently down onto the street beneath the elevated bridge; the overturned car crushed dozens of zombies along with it!
“Aaaah!!”
A woman who survived in the back seat of the SUV opened her window, screaming to escape—next instant, a dense swarm of zombies overwhelmed the vehicle; the hand raised in desperation quickly vanished amid shrieks.
“Anke! Xiao Wei!”
Shu Qin roared into the radio, eyes reddening, gritting her teeth as she slammed the accelerator. “You bastards, focus your attention!”
Thud! Thud! Splash!
As the sky jellyfish passed over the convoy, countless bullets struck its body, shredding many of its tentacles and tissues; immediately, a torrent of gray-white tissue fragments and fluids rained down like a downpour.
Sssss!
Many vehicles were hit, and people who couldn’t dodge were splattered on arms and bodies—skin instantly began to rot and burn. Screams erupted from the convoy; the entire formation nearly broke apart.
18:45. Just as the group faced dire peril—the sky… went dark!
The convoy, already deep in thick fog, now plunged into utter darkness. All vehicle headlights turned on, illuminating the road ahead.
“Lin Xian, there’s another one ahead!!!!!!”
Kiki’s voice came through the radio. Lin Xian looked up from the cockpit and saw a far larger jellyfish slowly emerging above a skyscraper!
“If we keep going like this, we’re done for!”
Lin Xian’s face grew grim, as if facing a deadly foe: “Kiki, get that fire-spitting kid and come here!”
“Got it!”
Kiki heard Lin Xian and dashed toward the cockpit. Meanwhile, Lu Xingchen still huddled in the corner, eyes vacant, muttering mournfully: “My car… my car…”
“Why are you still crouching here? Disaster’s here—come help me!”
Lu Xingchen looked up at her. “Do you know how important that car is to me? It’s my companion, my refuge, my reason for moving forward…”
Kiki’s face darkened instantly. She suppressed the urge to curse and snapped at him.
“Enough nonsense! Come help me kill that jellyfish—I’ll get Lin Xian to give you a whole car to decorate as your bedroom! Happy now?!”
To her surprise, Lu Xingchen instantly stood up, straightened his chest, his face calm and resolute.
“No time to waste. Let’s go now.”
His demeanor now was utterly unlike the pitiful figure moments ago—even Kiki was stunned.
“Come on, it’s time to show these demons my Fire God’s… Hey hey hey!”
Kiki rolled her eyes, utterly unable to tolerate his self-indulgent performance. Before he finished, she snapped her fingers, used telekinesis to grab his ear midair, and yanked him toward the cockpit.
“Lin Xian, I brought him.”
Kiki rushed into the cockpit with Lu Xingchen. Lin Xian glanced back at him and asked, “Still able to move?”
Lu Xingchen was frustrated, about to retort—then he looked past Lin Xian and saw the colossal jellyfish in the distant sky. His expression turned serious. He nodded at Lin Xian. “Yes.”
“Good.”
Lin Xian said at once: “Kiki, dump all the gasoline we stored in the rear cars onto the target. You, Mr. Lu—work with her. I’m going to burn the squid!”
“It’s a jellyfish!”
“Got it!” Kiki instantly understood Lin Xian’s intent. Before Lu Xingchen could complain, she spun and sprinted toward the rear compartment.
Splash!
Lin Xian opened the cockpit door. Clang! Clang! Clang! He constructed a steel staircase so Lu Xingchen could walk directly from the car to the roof.
Lu Xingchen stared in astonishment at Lin Xian’s fluid, bizarre abilities. His expression shifted slightly, then he said nothing more, rolled up his sleeves, and climbed the stairs to the roof.
On the other side, Lin Xian had assumed Kiki would use telekinesis to move the Shiji barrels of gasoline—but when he looked, he saw the barrels floating in midair, while Kiki stood excitedly atop them, occasionally levitating.
This girl… can definitely fly now.
Lin Xian had long suspected telekinesis had such vast potential for flight—after all, she’d lifted trains weighing hundreds of tons. How could she not move her own Jishi kilograms? It was just a matter of mastery.
Ooo~
On the speeding Infinity, Lu Xingchen stood on the roof, while Kiki floated gracefully up from the side and landed on the roof, her expression tense.
This was her first flight—her heart raced—but seeing the colossal threat above, she had no time to celebrate. She swiftly raised her arms, lifting the Shiji barrels of gasoline into the air.
“When I throw them up, you ignite them—burn as fiercely as you can!” Kiki said, her voice clear and crisp.
“No need to remind me. Burning is art!” Lu Xingchen’s face hardened. He flicked his fingers, warming up.
!
Inside the cockpit, Lin Xian picked up the radio: “Old Mo, I’m lighting up that jellyfish. Afterward, launch a few missiles. Everyone else—don’t fire. Close your windows. Watch for falling fire!”
Hearing Lin Xian’s insane plan, Shu Qin and Xu Jin were stunned, immediately replying:
“Understood! Understood!”
“Everyone, take cover!”
Meanwhile, Old Mo’s voice was excited: “Good kid! Burning the squid! You’ve got guts!”
He clicked several buttons on the control panel.
“Alright, then—let’s fire everything we’ve got. Either we live, or we die!”
Clank! Clank!
The train drew closer.
Aaawwwm!!
The colossal jellyfish in the sky emitted a massive, muffled roar—as if sensing prey. Its transparent bell rippled, speeding toward the train!
“Now!!”
Lin Xian shouted to the roof.
Kiki heard Lin Xian’s command, stilled her breath, her eyes blazing with psychic energy. She reached out with both hands, gathering the Shiji barrels into a tight cluster, then hurled them with all her strength toward the sky jellyfish.
Hum!
The cluster of barrels, carrying immense kinetic force, screamed through the air.
Meanwhile, Lu Xingchen stood atop the train’s front, stomped hard, clenched his teeth, and unleashed torrents of flame from his palms—gradually forming a massive fireball before him.
Instantly, waves of flame blazed, illuminating the entire street!
“God·Emperor of Flame!!”
His pupils trembled—he channeled every ounce of his strength—and thrust the inferno skyward.
Hummmmm!
The giant fireball rose steadily, lighting up the outer windows of skyscrapers—then collided with the cluster of gasoline barrels aimed at the jellyfish’s center!
BOOM!!
In an instant, a searing, colossal fireball erupted. Flames roared skyward; ignited gasoline sprayed outward, intensifying the inferno.
A massive fireball blazed in the sky—as if the flames would burn through the heavens—swiftly engulfing half the sky jellyfish’s colossal body.
Fire burns the sky!
The explosion’s shockwave reached the convoy below. Cars shuddered; a wave of heat slammed into them.
