Chapter 170: Train Upgrade Plan 1 (Request Monthly Tickets)

~6 min read 1,053 words

"Yay!"

Kiki cheered: "Finally, the train's getting upgraded."

Though Shu Qin's group knew Lin Xian had a mechanical ability, they still exchanged puzzled glances upon hearing him mention upgrading the train.

Lin Xian's heart stirred slightly; he raised his right hand, palm glowing with luminescence. Several materials shot out, condensed, shaped, forged, and assembled into one unit!

Clank! Clank! Clank!

A howler K23 electric rotary machine gun materialized out of thin air—thud! its massive barrel landing on the ground before the building.

"Building, here's your new toy."

Everyone in Shu Qin's convoy gasped at this miraculous sight—a Gatling gun like this was a devastating weapon, usually seen only in medium or large convoys.

No one expected Lin Xian to simply "create" one with a wave of his hand—they were all stunned.

"Whoa!"

Sara and Lu Xingchen stared, dumbfounded. Building widened his eyes and bent down to pick it up.

The heavy weight, six barrels radiating an aura of destruction, combined with Building's towering frame, instantly gave him the stance of a war god.

"Bro! So cool!"

"Heh." Building licked his lips, delighted as he gripped the deadly weapon. "Thanks, Xian-ge."

"What's to thank for?" Lin Xian pointed at the Infinite. "Now that we have time, let's properly upgrade our fortress train—install weapons where needed, renovate the carriages. With so many of us, shouldn't we make our living environment better?"

"Yes!" Kiki beamed. "My carriage No. 2 needs upgrading too!"

"Lin team leader."

Shu Qin's expression glowed with excitement. "Give me any orders you like."

Lin Xian nodded. "Have your people take down everything useful from these vehicles—including your own—and let Chen Laoshi tally it all up."

"Understood. I'll get on it right away."

Lin Xian turned to Lu Xingchen. "Fire God, take a few skilled people and find high-visibility spots around here for lookouts. If you spot zombies or other trouble, clear them out."

"No problem." Lu Xingchen smirked. "Leave it to me."

"Building, Sara—you two sort out all the weapons and ammo." Lin Xian pointed to an open area. "Organize our firepower."

"Got it, Xian-ge."

"Yes!" Sara perked up.

"Everyone else, help me clear out those passenger carriages. Kiki, Chen Sixuan—let's redesign the carriage layout."

"Alright." Kiki and Chen Sixuan replied.

Lin Xian looked at the Infinite. Now he had manpower, time, and space—this rare opportunity must be seized to upgrade the train properly.

At Lin Xian's command, everyone sprang into action.

This time, he planned to first produce the train's combat carriages, carriage doors, lift platforms, external blade armor, sentry systems, and the 1130. In Carriage No. 2, Lin Xian, Kiki, and Chen Sixuan were studying the carriage layout on a computer.

"We'll keep the Whale 03e heavy gas turbine locomotive as the front and the Twin Star 11r nuclear-powered electric locomotive as the rear—those won't change. But we have two problems to solve."

Kiki pointed at the rough model on screen. "Best to connect the nuclear locomotive's control system to my station so I can monitor the entire train's status. Link the sentry and radar systems, integrate water, air, heating, power, and information systems—wow! Our Infinite will become a smart train."

"What's the second problem?"

"Of course, firepower." Kiki pointed to the last carriage. "After adding five more carriages, excluding the power units, we'll have twelve carriages total. We can't keep running around with walkie-talkies for defense like before—especially since we need to protect this nuclear locomotive. So I think Carriage No. 12 should be converted into a weapons station. That's where your 1130 close-in defense cannon should go."

Lin Xian nodded. Kiki's idea matched his own: "That's exactly what I planned. With more people, if nothing unexpected happens, we'll keep the nuclear carriage shut down daily. Turning No. 12 into a defense carriage will also protect our power units."

"Should we add more protection like Longshan No. 1?" Chen Sixuan said. "I observed Longshan No. 1's layout last night—light and heavy firepower and anti-air defenses are evenly distributed, covering the whole train."

"Hmm, makes sense. Then let's make Carriage No. 5 a flexible defense carriage—install a retractable Gatling gun on the roof and personnel access points. Building and Lu Xingchen should handle the middle section without issue."

"Huh?" Kiki stared at him, eyes wide. "I thought you were going to install another 1130."

Lin Xian gave her a deadpan look. "Do you think I'm a mobile arms factory? I can't just conjure things up. I don't even know if I can finish one with the materials in this repair shop—now you want two?"

!

Kiki stuck out her tongue and glanced at him sideways. "You really have so little stock?"

Lin Xian: "..."

That sounded weird.

"By the way." Kiki pointed to the roof. "Didn't you promise to give Carriage No. 2 a Wuzhuang roof too?"

"I was planning to."

Lin Xian said gravely: "I plan to install a G3 electromagnetic railgun and a bulletproof firing pod up front."

"Whoa, really..." Kiki's eyes lit up as she rose to her feet—then suddenly froze, pointing at Lin Xian. "There's a 'but,' isn't there?"

"But..."

Lin Xian smiled. "Same as before—I can only build the bulletproof firing pod for now. The electromagnetic railgun? I'll need to wait due to material shortages."

With the fabrication center, material shortages were theoretically solved—but only in theory. For high-grade materials like Level 2 or 3, if Lin Xian had to convert low-grade ones, efficiency was terrible and output minimal. It would take considerable time to gather enough for the railgun.

"Also, installing the electromagnetic railgun on Carriage No. 2 will shrink your living space significantly." Lin Xian shrugged. "It's bulky. For safety, it must be embedded with a retractable platform, plus a high-capacity energy capacitor array underneath—this will take up a lot of carriage space."

"So what?"

Kiki sat in her swivel chair, utterly unconcerned. "Sara and I sleep in a bunk bed. Most of Carriage No. 2 is empty—it's nearly thirty meters long. We don't need all this space."

She shot Lin Xian an annoyed glance. "Do you think we're like you two, always tinkering?"

Chen Sixuan was taken aback by Kiki's sudden remark—her face flushed instantly. "What are you saying? We're discussing serious matters..."

Lin Xian smiled helplessly. "Fine. Server, drones, sentry system, nuclear locomotive control—all integrated here. Happy now?"
