Chapter 171: Train Upgrade Plan 2 (Request Monthly Tickets)
"Hehe, that's more like it."
Clearly enjoying the feeling of control, Kiki grinned and continued, "What about the remaining cars? How do you plan to arrange them?"
Lin Xian looked down the train corridor: "My idea is this: Cars 1 and 2 stay unchanged. Car 3, I promised Director Ding as the research car—so it stays too. Car 4, I'll modify slightly into a cultivation car. Car 5 is where Da Lou and Lu Xingchen live; I'll turn it into a defense car, stocking part of the vehicle's weapons there and installing an explosion-proof automatic door for easy access by armed personnel."
"Then there's Car 11, for tools and storage. We can keep two high-spec vehicles from our armored car and Shu Qin's group. I'll design a large lift gate for easy vehicle unloading—we sometimes need these cars and motorcycles for exploration mobility."
Lin Xian turned to Chen Sixuan: "The remaining cars are mainly for living quarters. Chen Laoshi, what's your opinion?"
Chen Sixuan's expression brightened slightly, touched by Lin Xian's trust. She didn't hesitate and began seriously: "Cars 6 through 10 can all serve as living cars. But I suggest converting Car 6 into a dining car, and Car 7 into a supply storage car. Shu Qin has several women who know cooking—they can handle logistics. With our current numbers, we can organize full-train meal service. Consolidating all food supplies in Car 6 and Car 7 allows precise tracking of our rations and prevents hygiene issues."
"For Cars 8, 9, and 10, we'll directly modify the passenger train's sleeper cars. Each has twelve compartments, each holding at least four people. With our current population, everyone can have their own compartment."
Chen Sixuan continued: "Also, shift duty. You said you'll set up a sentry system, but I think we still need daily rotations. Nights hold too many unknown dangers—sometimes humans are more sensitive than machines."
Lin Xian and Kiki listened, astonished.
"Wow, Sister Chen, you thought of everything."
Lin Xian nodded: "Good. I agree with this arrangement. Each car has door systems and internal communication units—we'll manage scheduling more easily. With a dining car, no one needs to scramble for food, and supply control becomes simpler."
"One more thing." Chen Sixuan looked at Lin Xian. "You haven't assigned Director Ding a place. Are you leaving her in the lab?"
"I'll go ask her later," Lin Xian said after a moment's thought.
"Oh," Kiki added, "I have a suggestion—shooting ports. We have too many people and guns to install lift-up firing pods on every car. For the rear living cars, design some closable shooting ports for defense. By the way, Chen Laoshi can use a sniper rifle now—Car 1 should have one too."
Chen Sixuan quickly waved her hands: "Car 2 has a rooftop bulletproof firing pod—I'll use that. It's more convenient. Besides, I'm not yet… very skilled, so no need to specially equip me…"
"Not skilled?"
Kiki stared in shock: "Sister Chen, you turned that psychic into a phone stand—how is that not skilled?" Phone stand…
Lin Xian froze for half a second, then realized—it was oddly accurate.
After much discussion, Lin Xian preliminarily confirmed the train's upgrade plan. Many problems remained, but you can't eat a whole elephant in one bite. Modifying twelve cars was no simple task—but with sufficient manpower, ample time, and all the tools available, it was perfect for retrofitting.
The final plan: Except for the front and rear power units, Car 1 would be Lin Xian's living quarters. Its current space was too empty, so he decided to replace the old car with a new luxury cabin. It contained a private, enclosed first-class living area with good privacy, a clean, bright large bathroom for several girls to bathe, and ample storage space for important supplies.
Car 2 already housed the information center and remained unchanged. With many systems to integrate, the empty spaces could be fully utilized. Kiki and Shasha's beds would be converted into tighter, ship-style cabins. A bulletproof firing pod would be installed on the roof, and space reserved for an electromagnetic railgun—this car was the most complex in the entire retrofit.
Cars 3 and 4 were originally Cole Type-3 biological research cabins, highly advanced. Lin Xian only needed to build a series of plant cultivation chambers or soilless growing racks for Car 4, while integrating the water purification and air circulation systems here—this was the second most complicated car.
Car 5's main modifications: installing an automatic explosion-proof door and lift-up weapon platforms to support Da Lou's fire suppression, plus designing weapon racks to store the convoy's firearms.
Though Cars 6 and 7 needed conversion into a dining car and storage car, for Lin Xian this was simple. They'd acquired many kitchen tools and appliances in Yuchicheng; Shu Qin's former team had some too. Lin Xian only needed to build simple dining tables, chairs, and food storage cabinets. He also had the blueprints for the Jiang City's Ice TG-56 commercial freezer—he could build several to store perishable food.
For Cars 8, 9, and 10, Lin Xian would directly modify the passenger train's sleeper cars—adding armor plating to the exterior was enough. Shu Qin's team could live here, with plenty of spare space—no crowding yet.
Car 11 was Lin Xian's original Tool Car No. 5, used to store tools, motorcycles, and three modified armored vehicles. With an automatic door and large side lift panels, personnel and vehicles could enter and exit flexibly.
Finally, Car 12: Lin Xian planned to install an 1130 Close-In Weapon System. He still lacked materials, but they'd towed two intercity transport train engines and cars from Jiazhou, plus over thirty parked vehicles and Shu Qin's fleet. If they devoured all of them and converted them through the Fabrication Center, it would be enough.
!
If they completed this weapon, the Infinite Train would face zombie hordes or Class C or B anomalies in the dark with far greater ease.
Also, the survivors' convoy equipment—Shu Qin was still organizing and collecting it; the haul should be substantial.
Beyond these, Lin Xian planned to install explosion-proof surveillance cameras and a front-mounted active phased-array radar to form a sentry system, providing 24-hour external monitoring. He'd also integrate the blade module from the GK03 electric knife onto the train, mounting it near the wing armor to strongly deter zombies and climbers.
With this, the external armor, sentry system, external electric-blade array, combined with the internal defense marvel—the Hetero Cube—and the Soul-Resonance Detector, the Infinite Train's defense and safety would reach an entirely new level.
