Chapter 197: Emotional Release (Double Request for Monthly Votes!)

~7 min read 1,339 words

Ding Junyi looked at Lin Xian, a flicker of embarrassment crossing her eyes; then she gathered her composure, took a deep breath, and said, "You want to sleep together?"

"No." Lin Xian shook his head. In this environment tonight, he had no interest in matters of romance. "I heard a sound and thought you might be in trouble, so I came to check."

But from Ding Junyi's expression, it was clear something was happening—though it seemed to be something private.

Ding Junyi's face flushed red; she lowered her voice: "I'm sorry—I was just… self-stimulating. If it disturbed you, I apologize. I hope this won't make you form any negative opinions about me."

Lin Xian's eyes widened: "Huh?"

Ding Junyi adjusted her glasses, forcing herself to speak with a serious expression: "I think I mentioned to you before—dangerous, life-or-death environments give my body intense pleasure. This is how I regularly release stress and emotional tension."

As she spoke, she turned and walked inside, pulling out a strange purple rod from the bed. She held it up to Lin Xian: "But don't worry—I'm a very traditional woman in matters of relationships. Since we've already been intimate, I've unilaterally recognized you as my only opposite-sex partner. Given your current emotional state isn't suitable for sexual activity, I resolved it myself. I'm careful about hygiene, but the soundproofing in this rest room… I'm truly sorry."

"You're awfully traditional."

Lin Xian's eyebrow twitched. Looking at the purple rod in her hand, he suddenly felt a strange sense of familiarity—but couldn't recall where he'd seen it before.

"Thank you. You don't need to worry about me having physical or emotional infidelity—I have a mental cleanliness disorder."

Mental cleanliness disorder…

Lin Xian felt a headache coming on. The Infinity Train's compartments each had their own living spaces and private areas; everyone aboard except Shasha was an adult, and such things were perfectly normal. He had no grounds to object. After a moment's thought, he simply said to Ding Junyi:

"It's fine. I just came to check if you were in danger. Also, I want to apologize for yelling at you earlier—the situation was urgent…"

"No need." Ding Junyi looked at Lin Xian with serious intent, then added, her tone slightly sharper: "You can shout at me. You can be harsh—I can adapt to this way of communicating with you, because it actually… gives me pleasure."

Damn, she's a total masochist!

Lin Xian opened his mouth, stunned into silence. Ding Junyi's words had redefined "traditional" for him—he couldn't handle it. He quickly said, "Alright, rest then."

After speaking, he ran off immediately.

Ding Junyi watched his retreating back, her face flushed. She touched her burning cheeks, pressed a hand over her wildly pounding heart, and whispered:

"When you yelled at me… you were so manly."

Lin Xian made his way to Car 5, found Da Lou and Shasha organizing weapons there, and led them to Car 10 to relieve Shu Qin from duty.

Shu Qin kept refusing, but Lin Xian saw how exhausted she was—he ignored her protests and ordered her to sleep until morning.

Before joining the Infinity Train, Shu Qin had shouldered immense burdens for the Big Foot convoy, getting almost no sleep on the journey. These past two days, she'd been on edge, and with a special mission tomorrow, she finally gave in and hurried off to sleep.

Inside Car 11, Lin Xian continuously manufactured ammunition, and also crafted an additional Rainstorm A1 grenade launcher, instructing Shasha to teach Miao Lu how to use it. As for Lu Chang, Lin Xian had observed that both he and Miao Lu had undergone massive physical evolution—their speed and combat power now rivaled that of Huang Mao from the former Black Crow squad. Especially Lu Chang: though short, he moved with incredible speed, perfect for frontline assault. Lin Xian therefore crafted a GK03 electric knife for him as a close-combat sidearm.

The difference was that Lin Xian didn't need to charge his electric knife, but Lu Chang had to recharge it for a period using the train's power supply each time he used it.

After receiving their new weapons, Miao Lu and Lu Chang were ecstatic.

"Whoa, Boss Lin, your ability is so amazing!" Miao Lu stared in excitement at the grenade launcher in her hands.

Shasha giggled beside her: "Of course! My Brother Lin is the strongest! Let me teach you how to use it."

Lu Chang stared wide-eyed at the sharp, long blade in his hands, swallowing hard: "Boss Lin, this knife looks extraordinary."

Lin Xian pointed to a switch on the hilt: "Try this." Lu Chang nodded, flipped the switch—and a faint hum of electricity rose from the silver blade, which began to glow. Up close, tiny arcs of current flickered across the edge.

"Incredible…"

Lu Chang's eyes burned with admiration. This weapon was absolutely a divine tool for close combat.

Wuuu~

In Car 12, the PX05 engineering robot continuously loaded ammunition into the feed chain.

Lin Xian was now the primary supplier of firepower for the entire train. Tomorrow would inevitably be a brutal battle—he needed to prepare for every contingency. If the giant monster in the chemical plant wasn't killed by the explosion as expected, they might have to retreat and rely on the train's heavy weapons for firepower.

If mechanical manufacturing were at a higher level, Lin Xian would've split his focus to build an electromagnetic railgun.

The Infinity Train sat quietly at the Rain Town platform. Seconds ticked by, and the atmosphere of preparation inside the cars grew heavier.

Lin Xian sat in the car, continuously manufacturing bullets, while simultaneously regulating his energy drain to maintain peak condition.

At 7 a. ., after the Dark Tide receded, the sky had begun to lighten.

Lin Xian entered Car 1 and found Chen Sixuan already shouldering her A33K heavy anti-materiel sniper rifle, ready to disembark.

!

"Are you ready?" Lin Xian called out to her. Looking at Chen Sixuan, he felt genuine admiration—her growth over this journey had been clear to him.

"Yes."

Chen Sixuan nodded, her expression serious: "I've scouted the surroundings. Kiki's drone also reconnoitered for me—I'm confident."

Lin Xian conjured a pair of binoculars and handed them to her: "Good. Be careful. If you run into trouble, Shasha and Da Lou will support you from the train."

"I know."

Chen Sixuan looked at him: "You're the ones in the greatest danger. Don't worry about me."

Lin Xian tapped his communicator: "Alright. I'll communicate through this if anything comes up."

Chen Sixuan understood. Standing at the cockpit door, she took a deep breath, then opened the door and sprinted swiftly into the depths of the platform, her massive rifle strapped to her back.

She had already mapped her route. She ran without looking back, cutting through warehouse alleys, entering through the rear door, climbing the fire escape to the upper level, then reaching a metal air vent. Seeing it was locked, she pulled out a pre-prepared lock-shaker, gritted her teeth, and drove it in with all her strength—*CRACK! The sharp sound echoed through the warehouse as the lock shattered.

Chen Sixuan's eyes lit up. She opened the vent, hoisted the sniper rifle onto the roof first, then agilely slipped out herself. Once on the rooftop, she closed the vent, climbed to the tallest wind tower, and began setting up her rifle mount, adjusting her posture, using the scope to measure distance and wind direction…

She'd learned these techniques from a former soldier in the convoy—just basic fundamentals, but she'd studied them diligently. Now, for the first time using them, she handled it with surprising competence.

"Lin Xian, I'm ready."

On the Infinity Train, Lin Xian heard Chen Sixuan's voice through the communicator. He looked up—and there she was: a poised, elegant female sniper silhouetted against the height, breathtakingly beautiful.

"Chen Laoshi, you're my goddess."

Chen Sixuan heard his voice through the communicator. Her expression hardened. She pressed the transmit button and said firmly:

"No flirting during mission operations."
