Chapter 506
The air fell silent; the dormitory chamber was utterly still as several people stared at Kiki with strange expressions, while Lin Xian pulled up the data from the previous Soul-Resonance Meter and frowned at Kiki.
“It must have been then.”
“You saw that monster?” Kiki asked in return.
Lin Xian nodded: “Otherwise, this data can’t be explained. Only two possibilities exist: either Ding Director’s theory of shared origin between friend and foe is confirmed, or there’s a World-Class Catastrophe lurking in the sea beneath us or the sky above.”
Shhh!
Beneath a clear sky, the Skyline Train, dragging an intercontinental train, streaked across the ocean like a silver blade, re-entering the low magnetic levitation orbit.
Cold air swept through the dormitory chamber; Kiki rolled her eyes, then shuddered and shrugged: “Looks like it’s the former…”
Chen Sixuan looked at the two of them, puzzled: “What exactly are you talking about?”
Lin Xian paused, then gave a simplified explanation; upon hearing this, Shasha immediately stared at Kiki in shock: “Kiki-jie, does Lin-ge mean your ability might share the same origin as Bio-02?”
“We can only say the probability is high.” Kiki nodded, then gazed at her own palm; her psychic energy rippled into a faint glowing flow, shimmering softly in the dark. She sighed: “In Lin-ge’s words, this might count as… good news?”
“Good news?”
“If this connection can be confirmed with a clear target, it truly is good news,” Ding Junyi said, her eyes gleaming with astonishment. “First, it gives us a clear research direction. With a sample, theoretical and experimental progress will accelerate dramatically. Second, if a threat emerges, we can act proactively.”
Kiki crossed her arms: “Like when we hunt Bio-02?”
Lin Xian smiled: “Enough speculation. Let’s talk practically. Kiki, your combat power surged so drastically—have you felt any abnormalities?”
“Abnormalities?”
Kiki shook her head: “Actually, it’s pretty good. I felt like I slept for ages. Aside from a few nightmares, it was a decent rest.”
“It’s a very unique experience,” Chen Sixuan said to Lin Xian, serious. “Now it’s your turn and Ding Director’s. You’ll feel it too.”
Kiki added: “Yes, it’s your turn now. Don’t worry—if anything goes wrong, we can handle it. It shouldn’t take you long, right?”
“Lin-ge, Kiki-jie has improved so much—your evolution must exceed 30,000, right? Wow, I can’t even imagine how huge your transformation will be!” Shasha said eagerly.
“Yeah, Lin Captain,” Luo Yang added, full of excitement: “The ascension of a mechanical ability must be incredible!”
Hearing this, Lin Xian let out a bitter laugh, wanting to speak but holding back. Many thoughts couldn’t be judged outright—he’d just have to act first and see.
“Alright.”
Lin Xian checked the time: “It’s only 1 PM. At our speed, sunset should be around 7 PM—our farthest yet from Star Abyss #13. We’re also far from Miami #9 and Bolivia #10. Sunset should be later than usual. But…”
He paused, then continued: “Now that Crimson has descended, the Dawn Core hasn’t even crossed Alaska yet, but already, Star Abyss #12 and Alberta’s #2 have radiated vast Crimson zones. Nothing can be judged by past experience anymore.”
Chen Sixuan nodded gravely: “Understood. Since we’re fleeing the spreading zone, conditions should remain stable until tonight.”
“Mm.”
Lin Xian looked at Ding Junyi and Shizhi: “Ding Director, Shizhi—are you ready?”
“I’m ready anytime,” Ding Junyi adjusted her glasses. “After this Grid Evolution, I need to communicate with the Nightwalkers team quickly. Some data will be vital for verifying the friend-foe origin theory—and possibly other issues too.”
Shizhi nodded firmly at Lin Xian: “I’m prepared. Thank you.”
Hum~
Lin Xian pulled out three Grid Evolution Units and three Level-4 Blood Essences, then approached the three dormitory pods. All three removed their outer clothing, wore only undergarments, and lay inside. Chen Sixuan and the others then installed the evolution devices onto their bodies.
“Don’t worry—we’ll monitor your condition constantly,” Chen Sixuan said, smiling warmly at Lin Xian.
“It’s fine—worst case, you’ll have a nightmare. Just don’t wet the bed~” Kiki giggled, glancing at Lin Xian: “Hey, don’t take too long—you still have to build the Infinite, right?”
Lin Xian’s gaze swept over them, a faint smile on his lips. Suddenly, he raised his hand and swept it down—there was a sharp whoosh, followed by several metallic clangs as six heavy mechs, gleaming with cold light, appeared neatly behind them.
The three on the left were massive, like iron towers—silver versions of the Black Dragon Battle Armor, clad in ultra-carbon alloy explosion-resistant composite armor, equipped with magnetic pulse systems and electrostatic fields. Their eyes emitted shadowy glares, radiating a ferocious, untamed aura from head to toe. The three on the right resembled Xiaoqing wearing powered armor, except their hands and feet were fitted with retractable VK electric blades; the original Ballet Toe form of Dancer-1 had been replaced by two sleek, mechanical icy blades—like graceful assassins dancing in death!
“Whoa, Lin-ge, your new battle armor… oh, mechs? No—what exactly are these?” Shasha exclaimed in shock.
Luo Yang stared wide-eyed, gazing at the six war machines with fervent admiration: “These aren’t exosuits—no external hatches, no life-support systems. These are true mechs. They’re intelligent combat androids!”
Kiki stared at Lin Xian in astonishment: “These are the drones you mentioned?”
Lin Xian gave no direct answer, looking at her and Chen Sixuan: “I built six. Combat authorization is synced to Viola. I planned to test them, but everyone’s evolution exceeded expectations, so I brought them out now. Use them if trouble arises—I’ll collect combat data to improve the second batch.”
“Alright~ Don’t waste time. Start soon, finish soon. Goodnight—we’ll wait for you.” Kiki, secretly moved by his readiness, nonetheless urged him on, shutting his dormitory pod and waving to him from outside.
