Chapter 45
The T-virus is a famously notorious pathogen, renowned across nations for the biohazard crises the Umbrella Corporation once fabricated using virtual imaging technology to promote it as a biological weapon, thereby catapulting the T-virus to infamy.
Everyone knows that once this viral weapon is deployed, it triggers massive panic in a nation—and even its collapse. The power of this virus surpasses even that of nuclear weapons, making it feared by all countries.
Yet precisely because all nations feared it and Umbrella Corporation fiercely protected the original T-virus strain, no country dared act, instead watching each other, unwilling to be the first to move.
To a biologist, a doctor devoted to studying forbidden substances, the T-virus was an irresistible temptation. At once, Dr. Ma Xiu snatched the T-virus from Ye Nan’s hands and began examining it closely.
But he was cautious. Before any research, he carefully reviewed the data on the T-virus’s performance in various experiments—results that horrified him. The virus’s power far exceeded what Umbrella Corporation had claimed; it was greater, more terrifying.
Especially the experimental subject known as Nemesis made him sigh. “Compared to Nemesis, the monsters I’ve created are utterly insignificant. Umbrella Corporation’s research on viruses is truly astonishing.”
“Can we create Nemesis?” Ye Nan asked, his mind stirred. Nemesis’s power had left him awestruck; in the movie Resident Evil 2, Nemesis’s performance ranked just below the heroine Alice, leaving him deeply tempted.
Now he held the data on Nemesis. If he could create and control Nemesis, his journey to the Yamaxunhe River to find the Blood Orchid would become far easier.
“No,” Dr. Ma Xiu glanced at him and shook his head. “Though the Nemesis Project is well-designed, its control mechanism is critically weak. Even if we have the data, we lack the experience. Rushing into creating Nemesis would only lead to failure.”
“But you know I’ll soon have to depart for the Yamaxunhe River to find the Blood Orchid. Mr. William Douglas is already impatient,” Ye Nan said.
William Douglas had pressed him repeatedly. He could barely hold out any longer. If he hadn’t known a terrifying giant serpent guarded the Blood Orchid, he wouldn’t have delayed so long.
“That still won’t work,” Dr. Ma Xiu shook his head. “As a researcher, data is essential—but so is experimental experience. Conducting experiments without experience yields entirely different results.”
“But if you’re in a hurry, you could begin by injecting Godzilla Junior’s cells. It will grant you strength too. After all, true power comes from within.”
“Godzilla Junior? You want me to turn into that monster?” Ye Nan pointed to the creature in the lab.
He was human, not a monster. To gain a little power and transform himself into something neither man nor beast—he refused. He had parents, a younger sister, a promising company ahead of him, and a lifetime of joys yet to be enjoyed. To sacrifice his future for such a meager gain? It wasn’t worth it.
This world was intricately linked to the movies of his past life. In those films, countless paths to great power existed—he had no need to become a monstrous thing for a sliver of strength.
“No,” Dr. Ma Xiu shook his head. “That man mutated because he injected too many cells. You only need a small amount.”
“Think about it—Godzilla Junior’s power is immense. Inject it, and you’ll undergo a qualitative transformation without altering your appearance.”
Dr. Ma Xiu spoke with seductive charm: “Moreover, I’ll inject you with an activator serum to make your cells more vibrant, allowing them to absorb Godzilla Junior’s cells under your control. Not only will your life form remain unchanged—even your cells won’t change.”
His life form won’t change! Ye Nan’s heart pounded. The thing he feared most wouldn’t happen—he had no reason to refuse this power. Yet he still harbored doubts about Dr. Ma Xiu’s words; they sounded too perfect.
“Don’t hesitate. Hesitation means loss. Miss this chance, and you won’t know how long you’ll wait for the next. Besides, we’re close friends, and you’re my biggest patron. Why would I harm you? I need your financial support for my research.” Dr. Ma Xiu, like the wolf luring Little Red Riding Hood, spoke sweetly, pulling her deeper into the abyss.
“Fine.” Ye Nan gritted his teeth, stomped his foot, and finally succumbed to the temptation of power. He would accept the Godzilla Junior cell injection to enhance his strength. If Dr. Ma Xiu’s promise failed and his life form changed into a monster, he would kill Dr. Ma Xiu the moment it happened.
Upon hearing this, Dr. Ma Xiu broke into a radiant smile. “That’s the spirit. Come on, let’s inject you.”
Dr. Ma Xiu pulled out a syringe. “This is my B521 Activator Serum. You can call it God’s Blood. Like the blood of God, it triggers transformation within the human body, enabling evolution.”
“I can’t help but feel you planned this all along,” Ye Nan muttered, rolling up his sleeve. “Hurry up, before I change my mind.”
Dr. Ma Xiu grinned widely and plunged the needle into Ye Nan’s arm, injecting the liquid, then pulled another vial of blood from a bag and injected it into Ye Nan’s body.
“I did plan this all along,” Dr. Ma Xiu thought to himself as he injected, his smile growing even brighter. “Even if you hadn’t agreed, I’d have injected you anyway.”
As God’s Blood entered Ye Nan’s bloodstream, transformation began. At an invisible level, his cells split rapidly, consuming his life force. But then, Godzilla Junior’s blood was injected, becoming an unknown force that surged through Ye Nan’s body, absorbed by his cells.
Ye Nan stared at his arm and felt alien. Scales suddenly appeared—first on his forearm, then spreading outward like a virus.
“Don’t worry,” Dr. Ma Xiu licked his lips, eyes wild with excitement as he watched Ye Nan. “These are Godzilla Junior’s blood reshaping your body. But soon, God’s Blood will activate, allowing your cells to perfectly absorb Godzilla Junior’s blood and complete your transformation.”
