Chapter 46: Press Conference Scene

Mr. Qin came out.

Mr. Qin had a well-proportioned figure, wore a neat suit, had gold-rimmed glasses, and looked refined; at a glance he was a social elite.

When Mr. Qin came out, a large crowd immediately gathered around him.

"Mr. Qin, hello, what do you think of the current domestic gaming environment?"

"What prompted you to return to the country?"

"Will you stay in the country from now on?"

Before the press conference even started, the reporters couldn't help asking one question after another.

Mr. Qin wasn't annoyed; he smiled politely at the reporters and said, "The press conference hasn't started yet; I'm here as your friend."

"Please don't rush; I'll answer all your questions later."

"For now, enjoy the banquet."

The reporters' faces lit up with smiles, they felt favorable toward Mr. Qin, and even secretly decided that after returning today they would write their articles a bit better.

Lu Yu had been standing aside watching silently, and couldn't help sighing to Chen Qiao: "This Mr. Qin is a tough opponent. Grand... this time we're really in danger."

Chen Qiao could only force a smile.

He also realized that Mr. Qin's social skills were strong, all-around and thorough.

"Yes, I will stay in the country for this period."

"I will create a game exclusively for the domestic market."

"I want to improve the domestic gaming environment and standards."

"I will strive for that!"

The press conference began, and Mr. Qin spoke at length, his words lofty and naturally fitting the topic.

He portrayed himself as a patriot, elevating the significance of his actions to a high level.

Everyone present was somewhat moved.

Then came the Q&A session.

Mr. Qin's responses remained proper.

The atmosphere at the scene was indeed good.

It hardly seemed like a press conference; it was more like a gathering among friends.

Mr. Qin is indeed a capable person.

"Director Chen of Grand, I've been noticing you for a while. May I say a few words?"

"You have always been someone I respect; when the domestic gaming industry was so sluggish, you resolutely founded Grand."

"Recently, Grand even produced the popular game Plants vs. Zombies, which added new vitality to the domestic gaming market."

As the press conference was about to end, Mr. Qin suddenly looked down at Chen Qiao seated below.

Chen Qiao smiled and said, "Thank you for the praise, but these aren't anything to boast about; I just like games, so I did these things."

Lu Yu's brows involuntarily furrowed slightly; he had a bad feeling.

Indeed...

Mr. Qin smiled and nodded, saying, "Director Chen, you really do like games, otherwise you wouldn't have persisted."

"But I want to say, Director Chen, the times have changed; those old notions no longer work now."

"Plants vs. Zombies indeed has its merits, but... it's ultimately just a small game."

"Grand cannot continue relying on such a small game."

"Of course, before I returned to the country, there were no major online games domestically."

"From now on it will be different; Director Chen can continue to follow our new company, and later you can learn from our experience."

Mr. Qin's words were indeed eloquent; no matter how you listen, they sound like concern for Chen Qiao and Grand.

But in fact?

What does "following our new company and learning from our experience" mean?

Isn't this saying... Grand is inferior to Mr. Qin's company?

Mr. Qin didn't even intend to compare with Grand.

He directly used Grand as a stepping stone!

Moreover... his words had no loopholes; Chen Qiao couldn't refute them!

Chen Qiao naturally also heard the implied meaning, but... he couldn't just break off relations with the other side, could he?

This is a public setting, with countless reporters around!

"Is it Mr. Qin? I feel your words just now..." Suddenly at that moment, when everyone's attention was on Chen Qiao, a youthful voice rang out.

Everyone was stunned for a moment before locating the source of the voice.

After all, this person is too small!

Yes, Lu Yu spoke up.

He originally intended to stay low-key; he is a behind-the-scenes strategist type.

Of course... that's just how Lu Yu sees himself.

"Oh? Little friend, do you also understand games?"

"Then you'll have to wait; my game might still need a long time before it can be released."

But you can rest assured, I won't let you down when the time comes.

Mr. Qin still had a smile on his face; he had already thought of the news headline for this scene.

Even the children were attracted by Mr. Qin! Just how great is the charm of Mr. Qin's new game.

"Mr. Qin, I think you misunderstood; what I want to say is… I feel that everything you just said is completely wrong," Lu Yu said.

A single stone stirs up a thousand waves!

In an instant, everyone was stunned, and then…

Mr. Qin shifted his gaze away from Lu Yu, arguing with a child?

Is this what an adult should be doing?

At this moment, someone with good eyesight on Mr. Qin's side had already walked over to Lu Yu, preparing to take him away.

"Mr. Qin, what do you mean by this? Are you trying to drive me away?" Chen Qiao stepped forward, blocking the person, staring straight at Mr. Qin.

Mr. Qin's brows furrowed, his expression not looking good, and he said: "Director Chen, is this your child? Well… it's fine. But Director Chen, when you go back, you ought to educate him properly."

"This isn't my child, and Lu Yu doesn't need my education; on the contrary, I now need to curry favor with Lu Yu."

"He is our company's game chief planner, the independent creator of Plants vs. Zombies."

Lu Yu said so.

Mr. Qin was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing.

"Director Chen, you really know how to joke." After laughing for a while, Mr. Qin then said.

"Uncle Chen isn't joking; what I said is also true."

"What you just said are indeed all wrong."

"Because Grand has me, Grand will also soon begin developing a new large-scale game."

"This large-scale online game will be made by our Huaxia people; there will not be a single foreigner on our team!"

"This is a truly domestic game!"

"Moreover, the games released by Grand will become the first online game in the country."

Having said that, Lu Yu didn't even glance at Mr. Qin, ignored the surprised looks of the people around, tugged at Chen Qiao's hand, and then walked out.
