Chapter 52: Lu Yu's Determination!

Lu Yu actually doesn't understand these competitions; after all... such competitions have a high entry barrier.

Moreover, because they are too specialized, they are not widely known.

But within the circle, such competitions are extremely important for a certain school or a certain professor.

This is a verification of strength, and more so a symbol of honor.

"So... why did Professor Chen's expression suddenly turn bad?" Lu Yu thought for a moment and asked.

Lao Li sighed and said, "Ah... you also know Professor Chen is influential internationally, especially in the field of cybersecurity."

"So... many people regard Professor Chen as their rival. One of them is a Mi Guo person named Smith, and his relationship with Professor Chen is... both friend and foe."

"At first, they were good friends, jointly researched a project and achieved decent results."

"But later... Smith felt Professor Chen was inferior to him, so they went their separate ways."

"But... what wasn't expected was that after they split, Professor Chen kept making breakthroughs, while Smith... actually also achieved some results, but always fell just short of Professor Chen."

"Thus, some people say that the project they previously researched together was actually all Professor Chen's achievement."

"So... their relationship has completely stiffened."

Lu Yu couldn't help but raise his eyebrows at this, never expecting Professor Chen to have such an experience.

After Lao Li sighed, he continued, "Later... both of them moved into behind-the-scenes work; Professor Chen returned to our university, while Smith stayed at a top-ten university."

"It has to be said that the overall environment for electronics technology abroad is indeed better than domestically, so..."

"Smith's disciples are more outstanding than Professor Chen's disciples, so..."

"Before, every year Professor Chen's disciples who participated in the International Cybersecurity Competition were thoroughly beaten by Smith's disciples."

"Smith... I don't know if it's because he holds too much resentment toward Professor Chen, but after each competition he still makes some very negative remarks about Professor Chen."

"This also leads to Professor Chen..."

Lao Li said up to this point, sighed again, but then didn't continue.

Professor Chen's personal achievements are beyond doubt, but... there is still a gap between his disciples and Smith's.

Actually, Professor Chen doesn't care about these things; all he has in his eyes is research and projects.

But... Smith is indeed excessive; he has already elevated the matter to a high level.

He claims the domestic younger generation is a lost generation!

This hits Professor Chen's pain point.

But... Professor Chen has struggled and exerted effort, yet in the end... he still lost!

Lu Yu actually doesn't feel deeply about this, after all he's not involved.

But...

Since this is Professor Chen's matter, then...

"Grandpa Li, did Professor Chen sign up for this competition?"

"Or has the competitor already been decided?"

Lu Yu looked at Lao Li, asking with a serious expression.

Lao Li blinked, then said, "Xiao Yu, what do you want to do?"

Lu Yu smiled slightly and said, "Now I can also be considered Professor Chen's student; even if not, I personally actually hold great respect for Professor Chen."

"He has devoted half his life to advancing domestic electronics technology; he is worthy of respect."

"So... if possible, I want his life to have no regrets."

Lao Li stared blankly, then... couldn't help but sigh again.

Then, Lao Li shook his head at Lu Yu and said, "Xiao Yu, I'm not doubting you; I know your current strength is actually quite strong."

"But... frankly speaking, you don't know much about cybersecurity information; you might not even know the competition format."

"So... even if it's you... actually..."

Lao Li didn't continue, his tone full of helplessness.

Lu Yu thought about it, but didn't rebut.

In the evening, at Tang Yi Pin, in Lu Yu's room.

"Teacher Lu, I actually have participated in a cybersecurity competition before, but... I'm truly useless, not even a match for them."

"Their skills... actually aren't at the level of crushing us, but the competition differs from our usual state—time is more pressing, the atmosphere more tense..."

"We basically don't participate in competitions normally, and even if we do, it's not this kind of live showdown. But the other side is mostly accustomed to this pace, so..."

The one explaining to Lu Yu was Wang Meng.

Yes!

Lu Yu has no intention of giving up; he said he would fulfill Professor Chen's regret, so he naturally must do it.

Moreover... this is after all an international competition, and Lu Yu happens to have the time and ability, so he naturally also wants to contribute for the country.

"I roughly understand what you mean."

"Now tell me about the general competition content."

Lu Yu lightly nodded and said so.

Next, Wang Meng explained some competition procedures and also gave Lu Yu an overview of the process.

As it turns out, the so-called cybersecurity competition is actually a bit like two teams playing a game.

Of course, this game is relatively high-end.

They use code as their equipment, either to attack the opponent or to defend.

Ultimately, they crash the opponent's network, which makes them the winner.

The next day, Lu Yu arrived on time at the Computer Lab.

Professor Chen, as usual, assigned tasks to each student.

He glanced at Lu Yu one more time before leaving, but said nothing.

Professor Chen had great faith in his students' self-discipline; in his view, if they lacked even this most basic thing, there would be nothing to speak of in terms of achievement.

Lu Yu... Lu Yu had actually finished reading the documents Professor Chen gave him yesterday.

He actually already roughly understood Professor Chen's idea, and also thought of some key points.

But of course, even Lu Yu could not say he could finish the whole project right away.

So... Lu Yu was not in a hurry.

He spent his morning helping classmates with their tasks.

When afternoon came, Lu Yu took all the Computer Lab students together to Grand.

It must be said that Chen Qiao's efficiency is really high.

The request Lu Yu made to him yesterday, he had basically completed it by yesterday!

The equipment was taken directly from a friend of his, and the Office was cleared out an entire department.

Lu Yu's purpose in bringing the classmates here is naturally... training!

He already roughly knew the classmates' problems, and thus prepared targeted training.

He wants the classmates to become familiar with the competition atmosphere, so they can adapt to next week's competition.

This time...

Lu Yu must bring back a championship!
