Chapter 279: Gazelle, Eaten Five Ways

~7 min read 1,349 words

"Gazelles are animals with exceptionally tender and flavorful meat. Even with no seasonings, just marinating them in honey and grilling them makes a delicious dish."

Watching Qin Yun swallow his saliva on camera, viewers could already imagine how delicious the gazelle must be.

"But catching a gazelle is nearly impossible for ordinary hunters," Qin Yun crouched low, hiding himself in the grass. "First, the gazelle’s burst speed reaches 90 km/h—Bolt’s top speed is under 44 km/h, which is nothing compared to it; it would leave you behind in a single second."

"Second, gazelles have extremely sharp senses. Their vision is so keen they can spot me from 300 meters away. Their hearing is equally acute—any rustle of wind or grass triggers immediate alertness, and they turn and flee. My current position is still relatively concealed; moving forward would almost certainly get me detected."

"Third, gazelles don’t just run in straight lines—they change direction, zigzag, stop abruptly, veer off. Unless you have a few specialized animals to suppress or surround them, you simply can’t catch them."

After hearing all this, the livestream audience felt utterly hopeless.

"Then how do you catch one?"

"Sounds like there’s no chance at all."

"Master Qin is building up the tension—soon he’ll say you can’t do it, but he, Qin, can."

Qin Yun smiled silently: "This friend understands me well. I said all that just to set the stage for how hard it is to hunt gazelles. Alright, I’m starting now—but I’m not certain I’ll succeed. Whether I get to eat gazelle meat depends on what happens next."

At this moment, both drones had long since stopped spinning and lay quietly beside him—one aimed at himself, the other at the distant gazelles.

Through the camera lens, viewers watched the trembling dry grass and saw three Thomson’s gazelles thirty meters away, heads lowered, nibbling sparse blades of grass. Their bodies were slender, limbs long and finely sculpted, backs flowing in smooth lines, coats a blend of light brown and white.

Qin Yun’s breathing was so shallow that, unless listened to closely, it was nearly undetectable.

He was positioned upwind, his leg muscles taut, inching forward slowly—each step preceded by a careful toe-test to avoid loose stones, terrified of producing even the faintest rustle.

Qin Yun did not advance directly toward the gazelles; instead, he moved in gradual curves, carefully avoiding their occasional glances.

Time passed slowly; the blazing sun scorched his back, sweat sliding down his temples. His gaze remained locked on the outermost gazelle—the one he’d chosen as his target. It was medium-sized, between adult and juvenile, perfect in both meat quality and mobility.

Just as Qin Yun quietly closed the distance to around thirty meters, one gazelle suddenly froze, snapped its head up, ears twitching toward Qin Yun’s position, its expression sharply alert, nostrils flaring rapidly.

Qin Yun instantly froze, holding his breath, pressing himself even tighter to the ground, his eyes averted from the gazelle—daring not to provoke even the slightest chance of detection, for once the gazelle suspected anything, it would bolt without hesitation.

All his long effort would be wasted.

The livestream audience, as if present on-site, felt the atmosphere solidify into stillness.

The wind ceased. The dry grass stood motionless. A few vultures circled overhead, emitting low, mournful cries. The alert gazelle stood rigid for over ten seconds, its head finally turning slightly, then slowly lowering again to resume grazing—yet its ears remained erect, vigilance undiminished.

Qin Yun slowly exhaled, his back now soaked in sweat, clinging damply to his skin.

"Damn, that made me so tense."

"More nerve-wracking than killing a few spotted hyenas."

"Master Qin has his flying dagger technique—just throw one and the gazelle’s dead."

Qin Yun, of course, couldn’t see these comments. He continued his previous movement pattern, inching forward. After over ten minutes, he finally crept to within twenty meters. He could now clearly see the gazelle’s fine fur and hear its chewing sounds.

At this moment, the gazelle that Qin Yun targeted was still lowering its head to graze, its vision blocked by blades of grass.

Now!

Qin Yun’s eyes sharpened. The suppressed, terrifying explosive power surged from his body—he pushed off the ground, launching forward like an arrow released from a bow, kicking up chaotic clods of yellow earth.

"Shing—!"

The gazelle instantly panicked. Almost simultaneously with Qin Yun’s lunge, it snapped its head up, let out a short, sharp cry, then kicked its hooves hard, transforming into a brown blur as it fled wildly in another direction.

The other two gazelles had already scattered the moment Qin Yun appeared.

Qin Yun ignored the other two. He sprinted at full speed, arms pumping, relentlessly chasing the fleeing gazelle.

The gazelle’s speed far exceeded his own—he could only rely on this sudden burst, forcing the gazelle to change direction, then predicting its turn to close the gap.

The gazelle’s legs alternated so rapidly they left no visible trail. But Qin Yun’s ambush and sudden approach terrified it into erratic changes—zigzagging, veering, each turn seemingly random.

Yet Qin Yun always seized the exact moment of its turn, giving the gazelle the feeling of being relentlessly hunted. The distance between them shrank with every change of direction, nearly within reach.

But that final stretch felt like an impassable chasm, holding him back. If the gazelle opened distance again, all was lost. Normally, the gazelle could simply run straight—it would be impossible for Qin Yun to catch it.

After a few breaths, Qin Yun’s speed inevitably slowed. His eyes hardened—he hurled his right-hand dagger, it flew through several meters, and plunged straight into...

"Pthsh—!"

"Auuuugh—!"

The violent pain caused the gazelle to let out an unnatural cry, its legs stumbled, and it collapsed, rolling far away.

Qin Yun took two quick steps forward, panting heavily, bracing himself on his knees.

"Fucking... fucking exhausted."

Qin Yun hadn’t felt such exhaustion in a long time—this sensation of pushing his body to its absolute limit was strangely exhilarating.

"Alright, the title 'Anus-Slicing Master' is permanently mine."

"Gazelle: Damn, why stick it there? Why not anywhere else?"

"Hahaha, the dagger went in all the way—you can’t even see it anymore."

"6666."

Qin Yun caught his breath and approached the gazelle. It now only emitted faint "yoo-yoo" cries, utterly motionless. A dagger had been plunged almost entirely into its anus—no wonder it couldn’t move. It wasn’t fatal, but the pain was unbearable.

Pinching the exposed part between his thumb and forefinger, he yanked hard—the dagger, smeared with something, was pulled free from the gazelle’s rear.

He wiped it clean on the grass, then gripped the dagger firmly and drove it deep into the gazelle’s neck, twisting sharply. Soon, the gazelle went still.

Carrying the gazelle’s corpse, Qin Yun returned to where the drones lay. The screen was flooded with animated gift effects.

"Thank you all for the gifts. Lucky break. Now I need to find water to properly process this gazelle. But before that, I’m completely drained—so..."

He pulled out a honey container and a water flask, cleaned and disinfected the dagger, then easily sliced open the lower back and severed a strip of red meat.

Holding the strip of red meat, Qin Yun drooled as he held it up to the camera.

"This is the gazelle’s tenderloin—safe to eat raw."

He shoved it straight into his mouth. Blood even dripped from the corner of his lips. This wild, primal scene left viewers stunned.

After chewing a few bites, Qin Yun’s eyes lit up.

"Mmm, delicious—warm, tender, only a faint metallic tang, no gaminess at all."

"Ugh, I know tenderloin can be eaten raw, but still... it’s bloody."

"Gross—using a dagger that just went up the anus to cut meat."

"Hahaha, Master Qin’s moves are insane—I couldn’t even bite into it."

"666, if you’re only eating the tenderloin, Master Qin didn’t even need to kill it."

Qin Yun glanced at the comments and grinned.

"Don’t envy me—this is the purest wild game. Alright, let’s go find water. I’m starving—I’ll cook you a five-way gazelle feast and show off Master Qin’s culinary skills!"
