Chapter 315: Gunfire in Broad Daylight (A Little Push for More Updates)
“Stop!”
Qin Yun, who had been about to start the car, immediately withdrew his hand from the key.
Scarlett’s two bodyguards stepped forward, shielding Scarlett and Emily, their hands resting on their waists, faces grim.
The five armed youths, dressed sloppily in flip-flops, strolled lazily toward them, as if they hadn’t noticed the bulges at the bodyguards’ waists.
“Joel, this white woman is gorgeous.”
A young man in a green shirt beside the leader stared fixedly at Scarlett, saliva nearly dripping from his mouth.
“Isaac, your taste is always good, hahaha.” Joel laughed, stopping four or five meters away from them.
“What do you want?”
Marcus’s expression was stern, not daring to relax for an instant.
“We just wanted to meet this beautiful lady. It’s almost lunchtime—I’ll treat you all to a meal. I know this area well; I’ll take you.”
“Sorry, we’ve already eaten. No need, thank you.”
Joel smiled: “That’s a shame. May I have the honor of knowing this lady’s name? We’re strangers in a foreign land—let’s get acquainted.”
Scarlett looked up at them, finally recovering from the emotional haze caused by Qin Yun’s presence.
Looking at the armed Black youths, Scarlett’s eyes revealed undisguised revulsion.
“Marcus, let’s go.”
Saying this, Scarlett turned and walked toward the car.
Marcus kept his eyes locked on Joel and the others, slowly backing away, afraid they might raise their guns.
“Beautiful lady, let’s get to know each other—we’re all good young men from Kenya.”
Scarlett shot him a disgusted glance and couldn’t help snapping: “Get lost!”
“No good!”
Hearing Scarlett’s words, Marcus and the other bodyguard, Kevin, instantly realized their mistake.
Immediately, the Kenyan youths raised their AKs and pointed them at the group.
“I didn’t hear you clearly. Please repeat that.”
Seeing the guns aimed at them, Scarlett’s face paled slightly; she instantly regretted her words.
“Sorry, our young lady is in a bad mood—it’s not directed at you. I apologize. We have urgent matters to attend to. Truly sorry.”
Marcus gave Scarlett a glance, signaling her to get in the car immediately, while adopting a submissive posture.
Joel, Isaac, and the others watched them get into the car, making no aggressive move.
But just as the car started and prepared to leave the rest area, Joel’s gun fired.
“Bang!”
The loud shot echoed across the entire rest area, followed by a hiss—the Chevrolet’s front left tire was punctured.
Marcus’s face turned instantly grim.
“Kevin, prepare for combat.”
He told Kevin in the passenger seat, then turned to the backseat: “Third Miss, Emily, don’t get out.”
Inside the Corolla, Qin Yun watched the scene unfold, silently shaking his head.
Damn it, if you don’t provoke trouble, you won’t get hurt. Just because you’ve got a sharp tongue, did you not see their weapons? Or did you think they wouldn’t shoot?
Qin Yun was speechless at Scarlett’s stupidity.
He’d figured her out by now—Scarlett Mellon was probably a spoiled brat. Just from her daring to bring a snake into his room alone, you could tell. Her bizarre antics were jaw-dropping.
The armed Kenyan youths, under their leader’s signal, quickly spread out, surrounding the Chevrolet in a circle.
“We just wanted to get to know you. Why speak so harshly, Miss?” Joel looked lazy, yet spoke with surprising politeness.
“Bang!”
Another gunshot—the Chevrolet’s rear tire was also blown out.
“Get out!” Joel’s expression turned vicious. “Next shot won’t be the tires.”
“Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!”
Marcus opened the car door and stepped out, hands raised.
“Make that bitch get out. Now.”
Joel pointed his AK directly at Marcus, snarling.
Marcus turned as if calling out to someone, but in the next instant, his left hand snatched his gun and fired three shots straight at Joel’s chest, then sidestepped to evade the incoming bullets.
“Ahh…”
Joel couldn’t dodge in time—two bullets struck his right chest, spraying blood. He staggered and collapsed to the ground.
Seeing this, the other armed youths opened fire.
Gunfire erupted—under the bright daylight, both sides were now exchanging fire directly.
The Chevrolet immediately suffered—dents appeared on the doors and windows.
Soon, even the bulletproof glass couldn’t withstand the relentless AK fire—it exploded with a loud “crash.”
Scarlett and Emily inside screamed in terror.
Kevin, in the passenger seat, also exited the car and returned fire.
They were professionals. After enduring the initial barrage, their coordination allowed them to wound three more attackers; the last one fled into a store, narrowly escaping.
Marcus swiftly approached and disarmed all four men, finally exhaling in relief.
“Kevin, handle that one.”
He gave an order, then hurried back to the car: “Miss, Emily, are you alright?”
“I… I’m fine.”
Scarlett was dazed, barely registering what had happened.
“Bang!”
Soon, a shot rang out from the store; moments later, Kevin dragged the last man out.
After checking, all five were alive—even Joel, the worst injured, had only suffered a lung laceration on his left chest.
At the entrances of the rest area’s shops, heads poked out curiously, watching the scene without a trace of fear.
As if they’d seen it all before!
“Emily, are you alright?”
Qin Yun started his car and drove slowly over to the Chevrolet.
Emily stepped out, shaking glass shards from her clothes, pale-faced: “Qin… Qin, I’m fine.”
“Oh, good.”
Qin Yun smiled: “Then I’m off. Be careful.”
Saying this, he was about to step on the gas and leave, but Marcus suddenly stepped forward, blocking the car.
“Wait!”
Marcus glanced at their car and chuckled bitterly: “Sir, would you mind giving us a ride?”
Qin Yun raised an eyebrow, pointing at the groaning men on the ground: “You’re just leaving them behind?”
“They fired first. This is self-defense. Isn’t it better to leave them alone?”
Qin Yun shrugged: “Fine. You can ride with us—but ten thousand dollars each.”
“You’re robbing us!”
Scarlett, who had been willing to pay five million dollars just for Qin Yun’s livestream slot, now stared wide-eyed in disbelief.
Qin Yun smiled: “Robbery’s slower than this. Miss Scarlett, are you getting in or not? If not, I’m leaving. You might want to ask locals where to get a tire fixed—it’ll cost a few bucks.”
Scarlett was furious, gritting her teeth: “Fine. Give me your account!”
Qin Yun didn’t hesitate—he rattled off a string of numbers.
Scarlett pulled out her phone and immediately transferred forty thousand dollars to Qin Yun: “Done. Transfer successful.”
Qin Yun quickly received a bank app notification. He opened it—the funds had arrived.
Emily stared in shock—someone dared to demand it, and someone else dared to pay. Only Scarlett could do this—no ordinary person in a foreign country could make a real-time transfer like this.
“Received. Gentlemen, please get in. We’re leaving.”
Kevin and Marcus exchanged glances—tempted to steal the car. After all, they’d already fired guns; what was one more theft?
But seeing Qin Yun’s calm demeanor, an inexplicable unease held them back—they couldn’t bring themselves to act.
Five minutes later…
Inside the Corolla, Marcus, Kevin, and Scarlett squeezed into the backseat; Emily sat in the passenger seat. The car slowly headed toward the A3 exit and the Sika Highway entrance.
“I paid for this. Why can’t I even choose my seat?”
Qin Yun shrugged: “Final interpretation rights belong to me. The front seat costs more. You only paid ten thousand—so you sit in back. As for Emily, she’s my friend. Friendship is priceless.”
“….”
Scarlett was livid.
“By the way, the tank’s almost empty. We’ll need gas soon. Be ready with the fuel money.”
“How much?”
“Not much—ten thousand dollars.”
“Qin, you’re going too far.”
“Then we’ll just break down.”
“I… pay…”
A free ride earning fifty thousand dollars—perfect. Qin Yun was delighted, taking it as interest from the Melon family.
